So...we’ve done the debt shuffle for 2016. Getting a bit more organised bit by bit. Trying not to kick myself too hard about the past 2 yearsAiming to pay around £800 a month to debts and we’re finally getting some savings behind us for yearly expenses/insurances etc. Hopefully all will got to plan this year and OH will get a job and our tenant will not leave.
Trying not to worry about what ‘might’ happen...

I once spoke to a financial adviser who said he recommended salary was split 3 ways – 1/3 to mortgage, 1/3 to debts or savings and 1/3 to monthly expenses. I’m paying out roughly that – around 28% to mortgage, 39% to debts and savings and 33% to monthly expenses... The real challenge is finding ways to squeeze extra out of the 33% for monthly expenses... That’s what the small things help with!

Candy – from yesterday – what app do you get points/vouchers for steps? OH does about 20,000 steps a day so I’m thinking this might be good for him!! 0 -
So it's all glamour here again. Just one more shift at work before the 'weekend'. It's been a difficult week. I don't exactly work for a cuddly touchy-feely employer. If you make a tiny error you are treated as though you've commitment mass murder. Weekend can't come soon enough.
* Housing Association have been out to fix the new-ish boiler for the third time this week. They're coming again on Friday to replace a part. We've been telling them for a year that something isn't right. Why else would it repeatedly lose pressure and stop working? At least we're not paying for it.
* Car heater is still not working. £10 temporary heater has arrived from an interweb supplier for the time being. It's not very powerful but it's better than nothing.
* Homemade fancy coffee made with condensed milk.
* Checked all loyalty points.
* Contemplate a cheap treat for the weekend.
* Eat leftover homemade soup.
Back tomorrow.

Hi Frugalistas,
Busy day so far, mostly quite routine householdy stuff, getting back to normal after all the festivities, but some tiny bits of money saving too:
*Did the ironing - not money saving in itself but only one big basket for the last fortnight, as so much stuff didn't actually need it.
*Made tomorrow's packed lunch (defrosted some home-made soup from freezer)
*Remembered to take tomorrow's turkey chilli out to defrost. Back in the bad old days, forgetting to defrost things was one of our biggest causes (apart from being greedy pigs) of buying takeaways. Don't know how I used to manage without meal planning.
*Making veggie fajhitas tonight. Tortilla wraps are near their use-by date so will freeze some for another time.
*Not an NSD as one of us will need to pop out for milk later, but that's all we'll be spending.
*Updated grocery budget which took much longer than the 5 mins I'd anticipated as there was an error & I just couldn't see it. Finally sorted it out. It was very boring.....stemming from some concert tickets we bought & transferring some savings piggy funds. 3 more grocery shops this month at £49 each, so that should be fine.
*Filled in my HQ desk calendar with all the dates for bills, policy renewals, holiday balance to be paid, when cattery fees are needed, cat's annual vet bill, all that sort of thing so I can see it at a glance on my big budget days. It's all on there now (free calendar) so I shan't waste money buying a filofax annual planner page this year.
*No downstairs heating on till 5pm.
*Did a few Onepoll surveys.
I think that's about it. I'll also be doing a task from my Annoying Jobs List No.1, but it's not a money-saving one so I won't bore you with the details.....which relate to a massive twin IT meltdown we had before Christmas.
Best Wishes to all. Wish it was bright & cold. Can't bear this endless soggy grey nothing.

Thanks for the birthday wishes. Had a lovely walk up the hill this afternoon and OH felt well enough to come along. We're going to the cinema tonight using our unlimited cards. I think this is my first adult birthday that'll be a NSD and I'm really proud of that - I think it shows a real shift in my attitude to debt and spending

Hi All
Well back to work yesterday and a new job to boot so didn't get chance to post, but have managed two NSD's. All B/L/D's from stores and planned for the week.
Will post properly tomorrow but wanted to check in and get out of the habit.
Take care all,
Cally0 -
Evening all,
Haven't posted here for a while though I often pop in for a lurk!
Congratulations callyhoops on your new job - great way to kick off the new year - hope you enjoyed it too.
I'm still in leave till next Monday so have been cooking from scratch all week with stuff from the freezer. Tonight we had cottage pie and have made one for the freezer which I'll be grateful for once back to the 9-5. Ate too much of the one we had tonight... I'm ashamed to say i went back for thirds! Still a portion of it left for me tomorrow.
Got my hair cut & coloured by a friend of friend who is a qualified hairdresser for £15 + the cost of my hair dye. Much cheaper than going to a proper hairdressers and at least I can face my work colleagues next week without looking like an unkempt hobo!!0 -
Thanks Ziggy.
Ally same here. I made a mistake at work yesterday, I gave a customer the wrong price. I tried to rectify it straight away but its a tricky customer and I think he is going to make a massive deal out of this. I felt really bad (and yes I agree it was careless) so I didnt need my boss blowing it out of all proportion. Sigh.
Happy Birthday PrincessPea!
Have handwashed DS2s sweaty PE top - I am reluctant to spend £30 on a spare. Other washing over the airer. Stew and dumplings for tea, bought some YS bread for freezer.
Oh and it looks like DS2 might have got himself a job. Fingers crossed it works out because this takes the pressure off us and means he can pay for some of his own things himself. The downside is that we are going to have to ferry him there and back - but we will work that out.
Right, need to tidy this kitchen.0 -
Hey everyone :hello:
CCL is dead on her feet tonight... but there is good news. More hospital meetings tomorrow and the Head has let me have the whole day off work. Which is fantastic, and I'm really overwhelmed about.
Happy birthday princess_pea, and lambda - I think £970 is a massive amount to pay in a month.crazy_cat_lady wrote: »
