Oh come on, yes they may legally be his property, but only someone quite unreasonable goes to all the effort of removing carpets, spindles, blinds etc which are a pain to store and hardly guaranteed to fit into their next property. Unreasonable people may just be petty jobsworths, or they could potentially be violent- we don't know on the basis of the information given. They are an EYESORES!!!!0

Potentially anyone can be violent.
As I said, did the MIL offer to buy the property from him? Or was she expecting it as a gift?0 -
the stuff which would be a safety issue such as stair spindles the council will replace and send him a bill.. they can be replaced by tenants but at the end of a tenancy the house has to be a safe place to live. they wont replace blinds but plug sockets/light switches/light fittings etc would be replaced as again it is a safety issue.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0

The problem is the tenancy is not ended... Otherwise yes correct.0 -
I don't think he's mental or childish. If he spent money on those stuff and leaving the house he is entitled to take back all the stuff he has paid for.
He is not causing any harm, just taking things he's paid for.
I don't see anything wrong with that.
Looks like he set up the whole house, and he can use all those stuff to his new place or sell and get some money back.
She had a whole house before he moved in. They got rid of the stuff as a couple and got new stuff.
I'm sure he'll use the spindles etc. at his new home..
And the damage he has caused is fine?0 -

but it will be tomorrow according to OP which means notice has already been given as you have to give 4-6 weeks notice in most areas.
and there is no way that he paid for all this stuff.. who paid the bills? who bought food?
He is being a !!!! and the MIL is allowing it, although she might have been hellish to live with.. I'd be there kicking his behind .. the police would have no choice but to be involved.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

The council said he can turn up at any time and sign it over, no notice has or needs to be given. Whilst he has *said* he'll be out Saturday no-one knows, they might be only open Mon-Fri so whilst he might be out I don't know if it'll be official then or not.
And yes, she contributed towards rent, bills, living expenses - no idea whether it was towards any of the furniture - it was always him saying "No, I'll pay for that" he'd boasted about doing the same to his ex-wife and he even went bankrupt on purpose so she got nothing - so whether he paid for all of this on purpose so he can take it away in the future I can only speculate.0 -

No, the Op is hoping the tenancy will be altered. - Which I doubt.
Bills and food are irrelevant, if he bought the property and he solely paid for it, it's his. Regardless of any other purchases.
So you'd want to get arrested? - seems counter productive0 -

Of course it's not official. It wont be until He, the council and
your MIL all sign.
So everyone accepts it's his property?0
