Issue re paying off card and direct debit - Help!

OH has a 0% interest on transfers credit card. He did a transfer and then after a lush time working away he paid it off.
We have had to use it again to balance transfer (was still at the 0% rate) HOWEVER.......as we paid the card off they cancelled the Direct Debit (I assume THEY cancelled it as it still shows in our account under direct debits and we have not cancelled it as it would show) that was previously set up to cover it
. So he has a missed payment now and they are saying that interest is to be applied to the whole amount.
I am freaking out as its 18.95% and its a 5k balance! We could cover the min repayments till OH went offshore again when it was 0%, but not now.
Has anyone had a similar issue and had any luck in having them put it back to the 0%?? I am going to get OH to call them and argue it, as I was there when he called to clear the balance and at no point was he told he would have to set up another direct debit should he use the card again.
I am raging! And also freaking out!

It is normal for a CC to cancel a DD after a period of inactivity, normally quite a few months though from what others have said.
Many others have also reported about getting their 0% deal back but not necessarily by arguing it, more about ringing and explaining the confusion and asking nicely.
Make sure you make the missed payment ASAP, set up the DD, check the date the DD will leave for the first payment as you may need to make one more manual payment due to the timescales of setting it up versus statement due date.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Budgeting & Bank Accounts, Credit Cards, Credit File & Ratings and Energy boards. Yes, sorry he will probably nto argue it as such. But I have told him to query it and ask for it to be reinstated.
The last DD was taken September, then October statement was a £0 balance there was a £0 balance, then end October and a week later transfers were done again and as he was away out of the country he didn't manage to check his statement - though I see now it does give advice to set up a DD - But I assumed that was just generic bumph as we had one set up!
We have made the payment last week.
Just so annoyed

Hopefully it will be reinstated for him.
Do come back and let us know how he gets on, it's always handy for other forum members in the same situation.
I hope it gets sorted for him
