Rumour has it the 70% will be in store only
Bet you're just itching to say 'I told you so!'I checked online early in the morning and found most of the stuff out of stock. Went to my local store and there was waaaaay more stock than in previous years. I asked the SA about this and she said that they had sent their online stock to the stores to clear, so looks like you were right!

The one thing I'd like to see next year is Boots making the shelves further apart ,,,,, and spreading the stock out ,,,, instead of 'pile em high'
That way more people can move about and less greedy tactics ( thankfull not seen that )
Only for the 70% day , it would mean less damaged stock as well!
We need to send this request to Mr Boots for next year!!!!!!
The Taunton store was brilliant when I went, they spread everything out upstairs, over several aisles, and many endcaps as well. You could walk around the whole upstairs and keep finding bits. They separated the beauty/toiletries sets from the food/home sets and these were across the room from each other.....most of the toys/kids stuff were on endcaps around the room. It was brilliantly laid out and I hope they do it every year as it reduced the congestion a lot and made for a good experience!0 -

Oohhh did I see you there?? Me and DD were at the back door waiting. Thought it very civilized this year, great that it was spread out and couldn't believe the amount of soap and glory she bangs was left.0 -

The thing is they want the room in the rest of the shop to start putting their new range out eg sun cream etc. I don't think they really care who buys what as long as it is got rid of.
Our local store had 4 aisles at the start of the day full of stuff, 2 of them were S&G star gifts and by the end of the day they were cleaning the shelves putting sun cream out to go with the sun glasses and swim stuff that was were the rest of Christmas had been.
One thing to note about the S&G star gift is that a few people were bringing them back later in the day complaining the make up was all missing, no one knew if they had been stolen or if it was a production issue so would be worth people checking. If you find you are drinking too much give this number a call. 0845 769 75550 -
Cor, every year there are complaints about how unfair the sales are, and how the shop should limit how many items people can buy, etc.
People seem to forget that the point of clearance is for shops to clear stock!0 -

My point is that during the year the staff will not let me buy more than 6 of any one item from the clearance counter (they have a bit of a vendetta against me but that's a different story). Yet I know they let other people do it in the sale and colleagues have witnessed other people being allowed to "clear the shelves" during the year. The staff know I'm a MSE fan and they claim I know all the loopholes which is why they even open my online purchases if I collect from store so they can check the invoice and make sure I'm not "scamming" them! My argument is if it lets me put it in my basket online who am I to argue? If I buy something and am given a free gift online I cannot take it out my basket so it's there problem not mine.
I would agree - clearance means they want rid of it so does it matter whether the money in the till comes from 1 person or 10 people.0 -

Totally agree, in my local stores they don't seem to care who buys what from the clearance section, plus they reduce things to really low prices just to clear them out.If you find you are drinking too much give this number a call. 0845 769 75550 -
Expired already?
There's still stuff available online (not a lot, but it's there)
I was coming to let people know about this manicure set down to £19.50 from £65:

there was a 70% off sale online, if you read back on this thread it started at around 2.45am on Weds morning and was sold out pretty much by 3.15am :rotfl:. If previous years are anything to go by, online will still be available for a few items, on and off, for the next week or so, as the warehouse sorts through their online orders and updates their stock levels.0
