silently lolled to myself this morning remembering number 21...while queueing with my purchases, when I turned around and saw the person behind me was an elderly lady. looked to see what she was buying ....and the poor thing was holding a tub of cotton buds. I told her to go before me and she was thankful and said she was contemplating going downstairs to pay.
yes there was a very bemused looking lady with a solitary bottle of shampoo in among all the sale-goers with baskets and armfuls in the Vic Centre this morning.0 -

1st chance I've had to post. When insomnia kicked in the previous night I logged in and double checked boots on-line sale was ahead and thankfully checked the opening time of my town centre Boots, which was half an hour earlier than I'd realised.
Went back to sleep, informed DH on waking that I was leaving earlier than planned. Resisted the urge to look up hit man or at the very least a divorce lawyer when he said 'as long as you help get both kids ready with me'. Let me clarify our children are at Secondary school, if they'd been 18 month old twins, I might have seen his point!
Drove into town, loads of traffic for before 8am. This is the route I take to work and it's not usually as congested. Had several panicky thoughts that it was because everyone was off to the Boots sale. Abandoned my idea of heading for free parking due to volume of traffic that way and instead paid for 3 hours in an empty car park as I was worried about the queue to the till.
Joined the queue at the same time as another woman, a Boots Veteran. She was a mine of info which of the double doors opened first and which till was quieter to queue at and she was correct! She also told us standing nearby there was a limit of 6 items per product. I saw this mentioned earlier on this thread but posts about people's experiences seem to suggest this isn't a nationwide policy. Perhaps it is true at my town or maybe she was just good at crowd control.;)
Got in picked up, a Jack Wills rucksack for DD. She has been asking for a new rucksack and I bought DS his on OOTW for Christmas. I have snaffled away all the contents, except the water bottle, to use as stocking fillers. I also got 2 make up brush sets for DD and Neice and a pineapple gym bag with toiletries. Police gift set for DS and a couple of other bits. Checking out on the quiet till, I had enough time to get back to my car and drive to the outlet Boots which opened at 9am. In there I just picked up a soap and glory bag which were oos in the town centre.
Returning home, pleased with my selected hoard, I discovered that the pineapple bag the zip is faulty.:( Too late to take back, they wouldn't have had any more in, there were only 4 on shelves. The puller part of the zip i missing, so as I want this as a present for a relative, I think what I'm going to do is spend the rest of the year looking for a zipper chain, as I'm pretty sure DD has had them before and 'customise' the bag, so it doesn't look as though I'm giving faulty goods. Lesson learned though, considering I bought 3 bags, in future check that the zips on them are ok before purchasing.0 -
Been going every year for last few years after going one year by mistake:D
got there for 8am open, got there at 7.40 as finished night shift(i must be mad) i was about 25th in the que at this point. by the time the doors opened there was about 130 of us in four rows.
it was maddess and at one point i was trapped in an aisle and asked someone to phone for the fire crew.
there were people with suitcase, yes actual suitcases. people clearing whole shelfs but i managed to get most the bits i wanted.
i then went to the smaller boots to meet my sister as i said i would help her as she is dsiabled and wanted a few bits to save some money. she was the first there on two crutches, poor woman had no chance  saw some women from earlier who had cleared the shelves at the other boots turn up(only about 10 of us there).
when doors opened they rushed in pushing my sister out the way to find two very small aisles. The women then put there trollies in the way to stop others getting past. so i whipped round the back and picked one of anything i could carry just so my sister could have a choice of something. thankfully i did this as when i got back to her she had two lynx sets in her trolley, looked empty by the time we paid.
went home knackered, shaking and really think i'm too old for this and then informed my hubby that he has to come next year as i need a man to hold my stuff whilst i shop like i'm one supermarket sweep for stuff i don't really need.:rotfl:0 -
Sorry totally different note. I bought Hubby totes mocassin slippers 29/12 half price. After 2 weeks fell to bits, all stitching snapped, I cant find receipt, but used advantqage card, any chance of taking them back?
(wasnt lucky enough to get to sale due to working, nothing left online either)0 -

Hi have you got a credit card statement which may help in the absence of a receipt ? If not I would certainly give it a try. What have you got to lose.0 -

So annoying when you get home to find item's damaged; I had the same issue with some boxes which were open/ torn etc... like you I'll work round this and just take out of boxes etc but I was mad with myself for not noticing; unfortunately there's no time to spend inspecting items.
Also checked my receipt to find I'd been charged twice for one item; I nipped in the smaller store on my way home & explained to the assistant who was really good and refunded one without issue; i also picked up a couple more bits.0 -
The one thing I'd like to see next year is Boots making the shelves further apart ,,,,, and spreading the stock out ,,,, instead of 'pile em high'
That way more people can move about and less greedy tactics ( thankfull not seen that )
Only for the 70% day , it would mean less damaged stock as well!
We need to send this request to Mr Boots for next year!!!!!!:money: I will never be rich but I'm happy :rotfl:0
