Of course, one could quibble as to whether this means "paid out ever, once per customer", or "paid out under this offer, once per customer"

Where's a cunning and tenacious lawyer when you need one?

If those are the T&C's from the co-op cashback offer page, then it's rational to assume it's relating to that specific offer, unless explictly stated otherwise?

Any keen and obsessive MSE'rs got the terms and conditions of the TCB £105 Co-op current account cashback offer?

Pl can someone kindly post these, or pm me them?

A very initial response to my query about the "confirmed" changing to a "declined" is that only one account is allowed ( I got £157.50 cashback for my first coop account)

That'll be me, though I used the ancient method of printing a copy:o

To clarify what Co-op told you:cool::

There is nothing in the £105 cashback offer which ended 10 April, about 'only one account allowed'

As others have posted, it does however say "Cashback paid through TopCashback is only paid once per customer"

So, while I am claiming the cashback in relation to my 2nd Co-operative account, I have not previously, or since, received any incentive from TopCashback, Co-operative, or elsewhere. So I await TopCashback/Co-operative's response with baited breath.

It seems that I am one of the keen and obsessive MSE'rs I was enquiring about!!

I had saved the terms and conditions of the £100/£105 cashback offer, which I have pasted below in case it helps anyone.

When one queries the decline with TCB, following the usual manual claim will not work (presumably as the transaction date was more than 6 months ago).

Instead, you have to submit a general support ticket , and they'll then "unlock" the missing cashback claim form so that it can be completed

If 5 twenty pound notes fell out of your wallet/purse on a windy day would it be worth chasing after them?

    I don't agree.

I think its rational to assume that "only paid out once per customer" means "only paid out once per customer" ever:cool:

I'm not actually sure whether you think TCB will pay up or not?

Surely it can't be "only paid out once per customer ever" as that would entail that that customer would NEVER get any cashback from TCB again?
If not, then surely that particular criteria is ONLY for that specific offer, therefore the statement "paid out under this offer, once per customer" must be true.
If so, the critical consideration is what "this offer" actually entails.
I would assume a product/service has varying amounts of cashback throughout the year, and this is classed as "an offer".
The alternative is each different amount of cashback, available throughout the year, is classed as a separate "offer".

Good luck with getting TCB to pay you twice based on that reasoning, as I am afraid you would not qualify under either circumstance. ;)
  • If Co-operative current accounts did want to be clear whether an applicant was eligible to receive CB through TCB 'only paid out once per customer' then they should be expected to qualify this open to interpretation statement by adding a few words such as ever/per lifetime.

Ambiguity encourages more applications for accounts that are opened successfully but then may not qualify for CB so perhaps it suits Co-op to be ambiguous as they are so keen to get current accounts opened seeing as they are losing customers overall.

How previously Confirmed transactions can become Declined on Sunday 25th September who knows, certainly not TCB, they have trouble explaining anything in a form anyone can actually understand or act upon.

Another anomaly that has recently occurred is that tracked applications through TCB for a recent offer for Co-op current accounts that were at about £52 subsequently became £42 only the £42 offer was a new offer and £52 was correct for the previous offer. This is wrong and the chances of TCB sorting it out seem to be poor, same with Co-op.

People using TCB have to wait MONTHS AND MONTHS for anything to be sorted out.

Complain direct to Cooperative Bank and contact TCB to appeal against the decline.
