how about altering the title of the thread , you have now proved that your original question is wrong , by virtue of finding one .

you have been given ideas how to reduce the hits down to people who post in the UK , what more can MSE do for you?

How about I leave it as it is with my original point that still stands and my original question that was not based just on that specific item and you learn to read what the posts actually say? Yep, I gotta say I prefer my idea.

Well that's certainly one way to end that!

Just because items are sold within the UK and have CE marks does not mean they passed any type of test.

A lot of the CE marks are claimed to be China Export and others are just fake.

True, but some have passed tests.

If it isn't genuine and it goes wrong/is rubbish at least it's easier to do something about it if sold within the UK by a UK seller.

Have the new postal rates kicked in for China? I bought some potentimeters a few weeks back and just realised there are no securing nuts, will have to make some tomorrow, have a nice alloy disc instead or a rubbish cheapy nut.

I paid £1.20 for 10 of them, price now is almost double. Maybe they wont be so competetive anymore? Or just a delayed effect before UK prices also increase?

Possibly. I know I read about that, but can't remember when it was supposed to start. I bet UK prices will rise soon enough :(

I was going to say I hope so to not being as competitive, but that's not really the issue. Even if their prices so go up, while ever they're still selling it still means searching through to find UK sellers for numerous items where there's far more Chinese sellers compared to UK sellers. Plus location is still misleading on both ebay and Amazon. So the main issue I have will still be there.

If they were removed from the search upon selecting UK only then how competitive they were wouldn't matter, I wouldn't see them and many other people wouldn't either.

Also, just to add, it was mentioned at the start of this thread about selecting Prime on Amazon to remove Chinese sellers. I tried that and it didn't work at all for the items I've been searching for. All it did was greatly reduced the number of items found.

I've all but given up on Amazon, having been stung more than once with false estimates and a false location I won't use marketplace any more. As above, I look at Prime only first, and then usually go to ebay and buy there on price. At least with ebay I can double check exactly where seller is, on Amazon it is hidden. The worst example was an Amazon seller who had the 'buy box' showed a delivery estimate of 5 working days, a dispatch address of Portsmouth . I bought it and a week later I checked the status, the delivery estimate had passed but when I checked the tracking it showed as coming from the Far East with a 5 week estimate.

Complained to Amazon who said the delivery estimate was just that and nothing could be done as seller obviously had to bring more stock in from overseas (or something) but of course I would be entitled to return it at my own cost once it did arrive.

I looked at something last night, Amazon had a seller with a week or so delivery estimate but feedback suggested this item actually took a month as it came from China. Did a search on ebay instead and paid about the same price (we are talking a sub £3 item here) for a UK TRS seller. I think it was something like £2.65 on Amazon and I paid £2.75 on ebay and my delivery estimate is Friday/Sat.
