sounds the reason that UK suppliers have given up on this item is because the only ones available are substandard and don,t work , and they have to offer refunds , whilst the Chinese laugh at us , knowing we will not return the stuff due to costs
I got one under £1 from a major UK retailer through a third party site so I'm good now on the sound card adapterSo half an issue solved for me lol.
The ones I found actually have amazing reviews, especially for less than a couple of quid. One person spent over £50 (I think it was ) on a similar item then found that and said it worked just as well as what they'd bought and they could have saved loads had they known. So quality doesn't appear to be an issue for this.
Actually some other items I looked at had great reviews too, but aside from shipping times had it gone wrong and set on fire or something I'd have been seriously injured so...avoided them lol.0 -
In live 2 miles from CPC , 60% of there stock is now from china , with no UK certification
I visit there place on average about 4 times a week and see the containers arriving , uk manufactures supply by wagons NOT sea containers
I can link you to product after product , like for like (same mfg) that is 25+ % cheaper from UK suppliers on ebay/amazonSave a Rachael

I avoid Amazon and Ebay for these things as even if the seller is in the UK, often it is a front for a Chinese seller. The only time I will buy is if it is a genuine well known brand item (although again they are often fake). I normally stick to companies like cpc.co.uk They are often as cheap but the quality is far better.
I've looked up so many sellers to see where they're actually from for that reason lol.
I'm careful about what I buy and where from so as to avoid fakes too. Problem I've had recently with cables and then this adapter is that shops either haven't had them or I'm looking at £10-£20 for something that's a quid or two on ebay/Amazon from a UK seller, once you can find them.
For all I've bought I can't afford £10+ a time and seems silly to pay far more than I have too. For example, could have paid £30+ quid for an adapter with worse reviews than what I bought for less than £1. I quite like having that £29+ :rotfl:
If it means spending a bit more time searching then that's what I'll do, it's just sad that it's not easier to find the genuine UK sellers.0 -

British sellers can't compete in Britian.

Sadly.
Well there's at least a few of us on here alone that don't buy from China and a lot of people who won't buy outside of the UK (largely due to lack of understanding regarding extra charges it seems) as I've seen posts on the Internet about it numerous times.
Lot of people think Chinese products are bad.
For everything I've struggled to find and eventually found a UK seller for, there's no reason why other UK sellers couldn't sell them.
However, they can't make money if they don't try in the first place. I do think there's been a big thing over the last year or two about working for yourself and selling on ebay being a quick and easy way to make money (not helped by news stories), but I think people all thinking it's a good idea, failing to do it right and all trying to go for the same products (phone cases I'd say have been a main one) hasn't helped anything.
Then ebay and Amazon don't help things for all the points above.
I think British sellers could sell and do well, but things need to change. As it is, you're right, they can't compete but I don't think it's entirely down to the Chinese sellers (although they most certainly don't help and I think it is getting worse. Plus I bet a lot of people of unknowingly buying from China which they wouldn't do if they realised).0 -
a lot of the bits on ebay from china simply do not work or are advertised with false info , how many fake pendrives or storage cards do you see?, the brit sellers on ebay are stuck with stock that does not work , and do not want the agro of returns on ebay , so this stuff works its way to boot sales
ebay (china) dealers do not bother , they have subsidised postage and very little worry or returns , when there feedback goes bad they re emerge with a new user nameSave a Rachael

Indeed. Some items are just quite simply dangerous. Not all are bad though (like I say, the items I looked at all had good reviews).
British sellers could sell better quality stock. Might cost more but many will pay more for it, a lot just to avoid Chinese sellers and/or get the item much quicker.
Some (many?) would do better if the selling platforms would just sort out their filters and stop allowing sellers to mislead buyers.0 -
We have so much choice these days when looking to buy anything but it just seems to make life harder sometimes rather than easier...0

Probably my fault, so much stuff from china lately. How can anyone else compete?
Arduino Uno boards for under £1.50 delivered. UK sellers need a large margin of profit to cover themselves for non working ones where Chinese sellers will say send it back for a refund which you probably wont on low value items.
Unless the audio adapter is mains powered then i dont see the issue with chinese ones?
Just bought a load of electrical items, the only thing to watch is the current capacity. I run 10amp items at 1amp or less and your fine.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

I don't get the whole thing of just not bothering if it fails and it was cheap from China. So many people waste money that way and still don't end up with the item they wanted in the first place. Even if they keep buying them because they're really cheap so how long it lasts doesn't matter you've just got a pile of rubbish items and are probably paying out more long term.Unless the audio adapter is mains powered then i dont see the issue with chinese ones?
Because I want the item asap. That doesn't happen when shipping from China. Plus, as above, if it doesn't work I won't just shrug and say ah well. I need the item and if it doesn't work it's going back for a refund! I don't care how cheap it is.
If it's originally from China, fine, but I don't want to buy it direct from a Chinese seller.Just bought a load of electrical items, the only thing to watch is the current capacity. I run 10amp items at 1amp or less and your fine.
I'd rather avoid electricals from China, especially those that plug in, and buy ones that are to our safety standards and with no doubt over currents. I find what I want cheap anyway and things arrive quicker.0
