  • I have had a phone call from a family member who always manages to make me feel like the worst person in the world and I always feel totally drained after speaking to them, but this time I remained strong and positive and wouldn't let myself be dragged down and do you know what I feel so proud of my self.

I picked up the phone and straight away I got told off for not going to see them on DD birthday, I replied with she has been really busy doing lots of fun things with her friends, but it would of been nice for you to have rung her to wish her happy birthday, I was also thinking you could have sent a card but didn't, I just got stoney silence and then a barrage of I have been ill I've had to go back and forth from the Dr, you don't know what its like, I just replied oh well its a good job we didn't come up if you havn't been feeling up to it, but it good that the docs are taking good care of you etc. I then got more about her being ill, I replied with do you need to go into hospital and will you need an operation, to which I got no they have given me tablets, again I was really positive and said that's good news.
I then wittered on about the kids and all the fun things they have been doing and how well they are doing at school, I told her that DD was taking her options and how she wants to be a nurse, she replied with what does she want to do that for, I just replied with well we'd be lost without doctors and nurses, look at all the help you have had recently, again a stoney silence. I just then said a cheery goodbye and said I had to go as I was going out.

OMG it felt soooo good not to be dragged down.

:) I don't usually post but I do read. I'm planning to copy your tactics with your relative. Sadly, I know a few just like her! Well done. Brilliant

Well done with how you handled that situation.

I too made a chocolate cake today too. It's the first time I've made a chocolate cake, so fingers crossed it tastes okay.
