    No, they aren't, nothing like.

My point being that this is a money saving site.

    Give Origin Broadband a look.

Thank you - I have indeed looked at them.

I found Origin intriguing and liked the fact they have their Yorkshire based support. Pricing was not at all bad but not as good as Talk Talk. The thing that scuppered them for me was the problems they experienced in 2014. I'm not interested in who was to blame - I just can't afford to be without service for any extended length of time. This event was simply too recent for me to consider them.

Hence, my shortlist was remain with BT or move to Talk Talk.

I called up BT to see what they could offer me to stay. Spoke to a perfectly polite chap but the best they could do matching the TT package cost £45pm without line rental saver. The equivalent TT was £31pm.

Hence, I have signed up with TT today.

I'll let everyone know how that goes and whether I'll soon be regretting (or rejoicing - hopefully!) this decision.

Plusnet were cheaper than BT when i upgraded to fibre.

Not many deals when it comes to unlimited fibre it seems.

I'm currently with BT for phone and BB. I pay £50 for Infinity 2 with weekend/evening calls.

My contract expires in exactly 1 month from today.

TalkTalk are currently the cheapest, PlusNet next (although they don't offer true unlimited) and BT are the most expensive by a mile.

I want to go with TT but am very worried by all the bad reviews.

I would be OK with Plusnet if I could figure out whether it matters to me that they do not offer "Truly Unlimited" broadband.

In a perfect world, BT would do a deal but it seems they aren't so willing...?
  • Well, I have a go live date with TT of 26th Jan and I will keep the thread updated with how it progresses.

I may well regret moving from BT as I had pretty much trouble free years (at a cost).

I would have liked 200Mb Virgin Cable bb but sadly not available in my area...
  • BT ended my service promptly on the 26th (it wasn't functioning at 5am in the morning) and the TT line didn't go active until 7:39pm in the evening (to be fair though TT had warned it might take up to midnight to activate).

So far, no problems at all and wifi seems appreciably faster (although I think this is most likely down to newer router technology from TT).

On the transfer day (yesterday) kids were distraught not having internet. I walked in from work literally at the same time as the broadband became active - kids are now convinced I am a God of computers/technology given the coincidental arrival/activation! Something for me to thank TT for :)

Why did you rule out PN? Same network as BT, but vastly better CS, and invariably cheaper.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

The impression I got from reading recent reviews was that they had had very good customer service but that it had slipped in the relatively recent past. They also remained more expensive than Talk Talk for what I was looking at.

Well yes slipped from the peak of excellent CS but still miles and miles in front of TT .
