Hello :) I'd like to join this challenge please, I just spent £15.48 on crafting supplies yesterday on the spur of the moment :o

I've just moved from my own flat back into my mum's house. DM has given me a crafting room :j but it's currently a bathroom so need to wait until the builders have been before I can use it as a crafting room :rotfl: Most of my supplies are currently in storage but I have LOADS to use so that shall be my goal this year. I know that if I go cold turkey, I'll fall off the wagon and revert to splurging needlessly, so I'm going to budget £20 a month to spend, that'll include essentials to finish off projects and any bargains that pop up :D As I use my stash to handmake gifts for birthdays etc I think it might be the fairest option?

Hello and welcome. Lucky you getting your own craft room :D

I have a habit of falling off the wagon and going on spurges so I know exactly what you mean.

Good luck with your quest and don't forget to keep us posted with your progress and makes :)

Sounds like you've all been busy :)

A craft room sounds good Selene, hopefully you won't have to wait too long for the conversion.

I need to really get motivated to use up my mountains of stuff (another splurger) I have lots of plans and projects but never seem to finish them ........

Managed a full three things. One is the home made and decorated notebook insert - one is me using up stickers for my planner and one bag of rubbish bits out the door. Not a full black sack it's a small pedal bin size - but it's a slow start.

I NEED to fix my sewing machine - semi industrial singer. It can't possibly be that hard. Haha

that way I can crack on with some purses for gifts and some pencil cases. I have some beautiful zips I need to use up but my normal sewing machine won't stand up to sewing leather for long and I don't want to break it trying if I don't have to. It was a gift from mil so would feel terrible if it did bite the bullet doing something silly like sewing a thick leather bag.

I have over 50 leather hides taking up way too much space in my craft room - and need to do something about them. I'd feel really wasteful throwing them - but at some point I need the space back. So fixing the Machine is priority number one. And if I manage it it gets counted - it's saving me money in the long run if I finish as a service is about £60. But there is no way I'm getting the machine in the car - it's set in its own bench and Moving it is a nightmare. it's not rocket science.

I'm already regretting setting this target - I've spent hours researching how to do it and so far have managed to figure out how the change the sewing foots pressure. So if I quit work and doing it full time reckon I'll have it figured out but june - and then fixed by October. simple really.

  • I'm counting my 100 as items completed (I'll be keeping tabs on actual products used too) despite a horrendous cold and morning sickness I've managed something.

Item 1... Greeting card for SIL's birthday. Used up an envelope, scraps of pretty papers and ribbon.

Item 2... Still under construction, a quilt for best friends new wee man. 8 separate half metre cuts of Very Hungry Caterpillar fabric, lots of plain white cotton sheeting fabric for sashing and backing, 1 roll of waddling. Next mission is to use oodles of thread and quilt the layers together before binding. Might have to buy the binding but will be rummaging through the sewing box to check first.

Also started the very beginning of stash taming. Have packed up lots of my crafting gear in labelled boxes. Have between now and March to work out exactly what I need/want to keep. If it comes out of a box before then it's a potential keeper. If it hasn't then I'll be letting my artist sister have first dibs before she takes the rest to her local church for the youth clubs to use.

    Morning all
Welcome to the new craft stash busters
Managed to make a total of nine patchwork squares this week and last night I cut the sashing out for them so will get that sewn on today. This is a very time intensive project so I back think it will be complete till much later in the year. But it was such an absolute bargain I couldn't resist it. I saw a lady selling what I thought was a pack of wadding at the carboot last summer, it was sticking out of a bag that had a label "complete kit £3" stuck on. Turns out she was clearing it for a friend who bought the whole world of patchwork, I got all the magazines in binders, the backing fabric, the wadding, all the patchwork and sashing fabric, scissors, cotton loads of extra bits shed picked up in prep of doing it and shed even cut out a full set of the templates backed them onto card and laminated them. The magazine was advertised again just after Christmas and I think it's about £500 to buy them all!!!!!
I'm currently using my small oddment balls of baby yarn to make hats for the local prem unit, I've made a few but will wait till nearer the end of the month to weigh them in.
I'm also cracking on with a Wip I bought form the car boot last summer, I can't weigh this till the end when it's finished. Got an absolute bargain someone sold the mags fabric, wadding backing and loads of other stuff.shes even cut out and laminated all the templates! She wanted £3 for the lot!!!!! The mag was readverrised just after Christmas it's a scary price.
I've made about 28 squares so far, these are the ones I've made this yearbuUO2T.th.jpg

  • Made some mini paper bunting using pages from a book that I am trying to use for crafting. 1 and a half pages used so pretty much no impact on my crafting mountain, but on the plus side no cost involved.

I have finished DGS cardi and started DGDs and am getting on with the squares for their blankets. I have said I will put their names on the blankets but now need to write up patterns on square paper as I'm not good enough to work it out in my head as I'm knitting, it would drive me nuts.
