Morning everyone. It has been a busy but productive morning so far as I was up early. So far, I've made a vegetable soup for lunch, using the sorry looking veg in the drawer. There's a loaf of bread on the go and I've prepared a chicken lasagne for tonight's tea :)

All the ironing has now been done and put away. Sadly the wm is on the go :( so it won't be long before the iron is out again!

Can I ask, I froze some cooked meats - roast beef and ham - as they were reaching their use by date. They haven't been opened and I didn't want to waste them. Are they on to use on sandwiches still when defrosted?

Hope everyone has a good day. Wet and dreary here but might go on a trip to the park if it dries up a bit.

Thanks. That will save me nipping into Aldi to buy some for school lunches :)

It is so comforting to me that so many of you are still thinking about my family.

Yes and will continue to do so, even after the funeral. As we do with Elona in the early days of her widowhood. We dont mention her grief every day but the fact she is still posting and her family is so supportive has been well and truly noted.
GD is still going to the undertakers every day to 'talk' to her dad.

Such a shame she feels the need. The viewing of my daughter 10 days after she had died still haunts me to this day.

    Morning everyone,

Hugs to everyone in need & Csarina,Floss,Hester, unfortunately the list seems to get longer :(

Got the dehumidifiers on full belt so everything seems to be drying out, apart from the cellar.DH got out everything from down there that was being stored and its all in the back garden waiting for the council to provide extra bin wagons or something similar.Spotted my steam cleaner amongst other things:mad:The council are now being very helpful & we have a support worker who is visiting every day to see if we need anything.Mind you,it was their drains & culverts which were blocked that led to all the water building up in front of us,the stream is about 125' down from us so it wasnt that.

Sadly we hadnt got round to doing the insurance as we couldnt do it when the house was empty for the renovation. The support worker has said there may be an emergency fund for white goods for people who arent insured-fingers crossed. Its only the dishwasher that isnt working now out of the main appliances, poor DS1 bought us that as an early Crimbo present.

My DB was texting last night saying we should have gone out with them on NYE as he didnt like to think of us sat in fed up in a damp house while they were celebrating, but we couldnt have left Lyla, she's a nervous wreck as it is.The workmen started up the diggers at the front before we got up and she shot upstairs to us and cowered in a corner. She's just like Scooby Doo-a giant doggy coward! We've not been out for a walk yet & I'll prob have to drag her past all the machines :( Its raining again.

DGC came last night for tea along with DS2 which was nice, and I found some more presents so they were happy enough.Did roast pork and all the trimmings, felt like it was the 1st proper meal since the flood on Boxing Day.Some of that left so I think I'll put some BBQ sauce in and have it with fajitas.

Ok better get the lead out.Have a good day all xx

  • Good morning everyone, I have had eight hours sleep, been up since 6, a major lie-in for me.

Have achieved very little, read a bit, knitted part of a little boy's jacket, ate some toast, had a bath and got stuck on the crossword.

DH has been to Mr M in hunter-gatherer mode, seems grumpy again, no idea what about, and if asked will deny it, he needs to have a word with himself. nmlc you are not alone.

Pouring rain off and on, neighbour's cat has got in the rubbish again, thank goodness it is the much-delayed rubbish collection on Monday. I shall soon be moaned at for over-consumption of black bin bags but the alternative is rubbish strewn to the winds and it is hardly a high-end expense.

DH is cooking tonight so no idea what that will be, usually vast amounts of meat for them and a piece of fish for me, there is some leftover salad in the fridge and i might have that for lunch.

Thinking still of Deleted_User and Floss and those struggling with flood damage.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

    Morning all,

Raining here and has been most of the night, the wm is on but will have to go on airer or TD today.

Can I join in with the moan about OH's? mine is driving me mad he wants to go out everyday and gets in a huff when I start doing jobs !! yesterday I cleaned the fridge out and a corner cupboard which smells very damp and mouldy, I asked him to have a look and see if he could find the cause, he moaned and huffed so much that I told him not to bother, my wrists hurt so much that I cant take the baseboards off the cupboards etc and I cant lift anything heavy at all, last night I had had enough so took myself off out for a few hours went for a long drive and sat up the seafront for a while. This (and more) has been going on for a long while and has made me question everything, its just not how I want to live my life :(

Sorry for the rant :o I have a lot of thinking to do !!

Might take the decs down today am fed up with them now, also dd has got a massive torn blister on the sole of her foot just under her toes, she wore the wrong shoes on NYE and is suffering, it goes right across the sole of her foot, might go to the chemist and see if I can get her something for it, she cant put any pressure on it atm, I was going to get her to soak it in salt water, but does anyone have any other ideas ??

    Right better get on xx

    Hugs to csarina xx

Rosyred I do feel for you and wish I could help xx

Reading about all these grumpy OH's makes me thankful that I went through eight years of hell/solicitors/court battles/depression/heavy drinking etc. etc. to get a divorce. Now, blissfully happy. Remember that life, as so many have found here, is too short.

DD is flying home from her ski holiday this afternoon. She has requested beef stew and mash for dinner as she has been 'living on pizza, cheesy chips and Coke' all week!!:)

I have a little bit of ironing to do - will find something on i-player to accompany me! I was reading about Nella Last, Housewife 49, last night and googled her to find out about her family history. Warning: do NOT google images for 'housewife 49'
I have some paperwork to prepare this afternoon for a U3A committee meeting on Monday. I'm about to take on the role of Events Organiser - any suggestions for days out in the South East welcomed!!

Thinking of you all facing difficult days ahead and also those dealing with the aftermath of the floods.

  • If it's any help to those of us who have our very own Mr Grumpy's at home.
I used to work with a very abrasive woman, who was always boasting that her husband never ever moaned or whinged about anything.
She thought nothing of dragging him out of bed to come and collect her from a night out, even though people had offered her a lift home.
She thought nothing of insisting he gave up his time to organise events, food and entertainment etc to events that he couldn't attend as they were 'no partner' events.
She always insisted that 'Good old Alan' would do all these things and more.
One day she came to work looking absolutely dreadful, it seems her husband had told her he was leaving, when she asked him why he said 'I'm sick & tired of being Good old Alan'.
I do love my Mr Grumpy very much and wouldn't change him for the world.
    Chin up, Titus out.
  • Good Afternoon everyone, very wet and windy here this morning but after the monsoon it seems to have just decided to be damp and overcast and the rain has mainly stopped. Just been to W8rose for everyday supplies and to the butcher for some of his old English sausages and some beautiful lean shin of beef to make a chilli, also picked up green veg as we were short. He Who Knows and I rub along pretty well but he does occasionally get grumpy, thankfully it doesn't last long and is only when he feels under the weather or has been stuck in the house because of the weather. I can forgive him that one because I know I get grumpy when I can't get outside too!!! Looking forward to walking the hound this afternoon, washing now up in the utility room, fire laid ready to light sounds good to me!!!

Have yourselves a nice rest of your day everyone, Lyn xxx.
