    Hello Chums,
I am back from my adventures.Had the nicest time in Amsterdam with my eldest daughter. It has been too long since we spent time, just us two.The weather was sunny and I surprised myself at how much walking we did.I haven't been able to walk far for years because of my bad back, but I can say my back is cured.THANK YOU NHS!

I almost have my house back.I have a kitchen,no tiles or anything or flooring but at least I can tidy up and get rid of the banana boxes out of my and OH's cars. Our bedroom plastered, hall, stairs and landing plastered.Just front bedroom and porch to go.The whole house will then need painting.

Mr V was in panto yesterday afternoon,oh yes he was!We had a party last night for friends who came to see it and the new kitchen proved to be a very good party room.As usual I over catered so we will be eating up for ages.

I am so pleased to be able to get back to normal life,we have been in limbo for weeks with all the work in the house and I can tell I have put weight on,gotta get back on the sensible eating horse. When the trifle, bannoffee pie, apple pie and lemon meringue are used obv!

    Laters Vx

  • Hi there,

You all sound like a lovely friendly bunch on here. Ive been lurking for a while and following your thread. Could I please join as I have lost my MSE way this last year and need a good kick up the bum :eek::eek::eek:

Yesterday DD1 and I made a drop off to Oxfam as DD2 had sorted her wardrobe out and had loads of clothes to donate.

Today I made do with left over salad and some left over smoked salmon to make a lovely open sandwich for my lunch. Also SW friendly as lost my way with that too :o

Nothing mended yet but do have a skirt to re attach the elastic in DD1 skirt. She is at work so will have to do that in the week as dont know where she has put it!

What is the NBI thread, probably obvious but having a slow day :rotfl:

    Have a great day everyone

    Welcome mumof3,
I've not done a lot today
Did food from the freezer and used up some YS veggies
Sashed some more patchwork squares, plan to cut more out this afternoon.
A couple more DVDs went in the CS box.

Wet and murky here so not going anywhere.

    Have a good day all.

Hello all, thanks for the welcomes!

Lyn - I have put 'Now You See Me' on to record - I'd seen the trailers for it but had thought it was just another Ocean's 11 type thing, hadn't fully realised how the plot went, but based on your description, I'll def watch it now!

Well: 'Made do' with the kids' left-over burger/chips and squash from DD's bowling party for breakfast/lunch, with slice of birthday cake for afters, so no money spent on food (although obviously none of my 5 a day either!) Also good that kids' lunch was included in party price so didn't have to cook for them at home - they're right fussy so-and-sos, so meals are always a bit fraught!

Minimised: some of DD's too-small fleecy onesie jamas - they were spilling out of her drawers, so have quietly removed some to the CS bag (we keep one on the go at all times, and secrete stuff into it when kids not looking!) - no point asking her about it as she would just want to keep them all!
Mended/customised: turned DS's vampire cape (he adores dressing up) into a wizard's cape and sewed on ribbons to tie it at neck so he could wear it while we watch Harry Potter.

Hello MMMers, hope you are all well.

Finally had the fridge freezer replaced, so have been shopping to refill it, a necessary spend.

Minimising my yarn stash as crocheting a stripy baby blanket using all the bits.

Mumof3 the NBI thread is the Not Buying It (A Consumer holiday) thread, also on the Old Stye board.

Welcome mumof3plusoh your user name reminded me my mum used to call my ex my other child.
  • Thanks for the lovely welcome.

I like the idea of a charity bag on the go, may set one up under the stairs so that it is out of the way. :)

Been doing my finances this afternoon and it is not pretty. Just in credit but have to seriously cut down on my grocery bills. Think I will just draw out cash for the week and leave my card at home to see if that helps. Also going to bake more treats for kids but will have to hide them as DS aged almost 16 will scoff the lot. He is about 6 foot now, very athletic, trains 3 times a week at the athletics club and goes to the gym most other days. He is just an eating machine.:eek::eek: Dont know where he puts it all. He eats more than his dad. He is very good as eats lots of fruit and veg as well as the usual teenage carp!!!!

Talking of food better go and put the chicken in. DH working till 7 but doesnt get home until 7.45ish so pressure is off till later and DD1 working until 8 ish. DD2 just made herself some tuna and pasta. Might just go and make a brew at the same time. :coffee: x

  • Mumof3 - I def have 3 children, but only 2 are my actual children!!!

Forgot to add re minimising above, we have minimised 2 internal doors via ebay, as we are going to replace them all eventually - our house was last decorated in the 80's I think (we've only been here 18 mths) and most of the actual fittings are poor-condition originals from the 60's, so we're slowly replacing the lot. Made 30 quid on the doors which is very pleasing as they cost us nothing!!! Although the new ones will cost a pretty penny, so we'll do without for now...

MrsLurcherWalker I've just been given a trio of 'grow you own' herb pots, one of them being Basil. I didn't know that they grew so big! Thanks for the tip.:D

Lynplatinum I had to laugh! I love it when idiots get what's coming to them!:rotfl:

I've got of pile of mending to do this week, including repairing a pushchair for my sister. It needs a few stitches. Sewing a new ribbon on my BIL Sun hat, and 're-fixing my sister's sitting room pelmet.:A

I've been making do with pounds and pounds of tomatoes, turning them into soup and pasta sauce. If there are any ideas anyone has to use up these Tom's. I often get batches of them from a restaurant, as they would otherwise be thrown in the bin!

I'm minimising my friends clothes and taking them to the chazza shop.:T
