Hello everyone
Kerfuffle I love Robin Hoods Bay too, when we go to Scarborough we use our bus passes and go up to Whitby it passes through Robin Hoods Bay but we no longer get off there due to DH mobility problems.
Salasava yes thats exactly why we like going to Caravan Parks so we can do as we please. We used to hire cottages but they got so expensive and our income became less, but his way we still manage to get our little breaks and I get the use of the pool too.
Yesterday was a knitting day at this end and I think is will be today, I woken up with a rather bad cold. Being diabetic things like this effect my blood sugars so I have to be careful and monitor more often.
The weather is very mild today but dull and overcast much better than the snow we had last weekend.
At the start of a new year I go through the paperwork and dispose of an earlier year, I always keep them for 'reference it scary to see how much gas and electric have gone up, but we've minimised the family last year when DS moved into his own place. Now there's just the two of us we can control the bills more. It's almost 4 months since I too early retirement, it's taken some getting used too after 45 years of working life. I don't feel odd and guilty that I should be at work anymore.
Have a good day MMM'sWhy pay full price when you may get it YS0 -
I've minimised the filing pile! It's taken all afternoon but everything is in it's place, paperwork is ready for the letters /phone calls etc to sort a few things out tomorrow, really can't be arsed tonight!
Minimised the house insurance by over £200 so really chuffed with that.
Onwards to tomorrow. Have a good evening everyone .0 -
Thank you Mrs CD re icing
for not getting my act together and freezing there and then, December I didn't know whether I was coming or going in the end.
Today I have reduced my craft stash by making fabric envelopes to hold our guest towels. Aiding easier storage in an overhead cupboard, keeping contents dust free and the material I reckon over 40 years old, which I love yellow with white lambs, flowers and doves. Now on display rather than hidden away.
Dinner is chicken in breadcrumbs with heal of a block of Parmesan, greens, sweet potatoe and mushrooms, all used from freezer or fridge.
NSD !
Lastly sorted towels out and some old ones gone into garage to take to Battersea Old Windsor - cats and dog bedding
So I reckon three M's today completed :T
Oh and not forgetting HM bread and butter pudding - from s cutting my mum made as a child - Prince Charles favourite it has banana and black treacle in. Except the milk/cream - all used up from freezer and store cupboard. The am& C I Had from entertaining book club on FridayAs a dear MSE friend says “keep plodding” or

Knitted two more little hats yesterday and sewed them up tonight, that was another small ball minimised from the stash, watched a DVD that will now be given away.
A bit more used up from the freezer today during meal times, so slowly getting there.SPC~12 ot 124

Evening, hope everyone has had a good weekend. I have been busy at work so haven't been doing much else. I've been eating at work so that has been minimising my food bill - I brought some leftover veg home from work today so will have it for tea tomorrow night with some sausages that I've taken out of the freezer. I wasn't particularly hungry tonight so just had some poppadoms and mango chutney. the chutney had been hanging around the fridge for a while so good that its now finished.Mortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500 1.9.25 - £106,033.77

well I am minimising my book stash today! I was inspired by the lovely pic posted of the 'book folding' (due to age I cant remember which thread or which poster!), and spent a couple of nights looking for tutorials on Utube. so, had a go this morning and turned out a very nice 'heart'. had another go with a different tutorial and my fairy house turned into - A Saxon Roundhouse! or I may just have them on the brain as have been helping grandson with his homework on 'The Saxons'.
So thank you to the lovely lady who posted her pics of her folded book art (she is so much more talented than me - I think hers were wonderful). It was such a change from knitting - I found it really relaxing.
only about a thousand more books to minimise!0 -
Make do: used the water from the cooked dried peas to stretch the soup leftover from lunch to be served at dinner, then half the peas served with brown rice and veg. The other half will make another meal in the next couple of days.
Mend: darned 2 pairs of gym socks, lovely ones so am well pleased.
Minimise: looked at my textile and knitting stash and got rid of broken and unusable bits and pieces, then having made space I tidied up the boxes and checked my stats. Most York ok but sadly had to throw away in the compost (as it is pure untreated wool) the front and back of a jumper I had started and not finished as it was infested with old moths and fell apart in my hands, and had to throw away the old and half broken knitting bag thst contained it, as it might have been too contaminated with moth eggs.
A good day overall but now I need to find a new knitting bag - when I say new I really mean from a CS or gumtree or the like! Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Hiya All
CathA - what brilliant instructions for Pom Poms - really great!
Not been around for a few days - Friday was just so busy and exhausted from work and popping over to take DIL out to Hobb!craft. I had given her a Martin's promise token because she loves crafting but does not have the money to go shopping in HCraft but she got loads in the sale for beading and card making etc!!! :j
We then went for 'lunch' (at 3pm) to a fab cafe situated in a kind of antiquites centre (not as posh as it sounds!! more vintage/second hand). This cafe is FAB, reasonable, and a small business which I am glad to support! I had a courgette cake (sweet like - a Victoria sponge/carrot cake) - really yum filled with lime curd!!
I still count this as making do because we did not go into a chain which does not pay its taxes and instead went somewhere with fresh wholesome food!
Then on Sat went to London with some friends - as there were 4 of us we could do the 4 traveling together ticket so we went for £10.50 each.
Today was NSD and started to use up (Making Do) some out of date ground rice - I had forgotten about Clafulti - it is an excellent low cal nutrition dense way of using up older fruit or slightly under ripe fruit. you make a kinda porridge with the rice and add ground almond and not much sugar. Will post recipe if anyone wants!
Minimised a very large budllia bush in the garden (yes, it should have been done in the autumn but its well established so it will survive the onslaught!). Also minimised filing of bills pile! :j
Mend - humm nowt really! (sure if I looked around I will find some!)
Well done all you knitters and crocheters out there! Your amking stuff sounds great! Especially those of you doing for charity are: :A
Now back on MM&M as entertainment budget was a bit blown this Saturday! Will not need to shop until at least Friday as there is just so much food in the house!! Where did it all come from???

Caterina  what an awful thing to find. At least you got it sorted before they got in anywhere else.
Just done meal plan for this week, will have to buy fruit and vegetables, milk and bread. I have quite a lot in the freezers to use up, so I am trying to work through systematically to use up by oldest date first.
Had a fairly lazy weekend so ready to start moving rubbish in the garden tomorrow.2025 Fashion on the ration

Hello everyone.
I've not been well for the past 5 days and have spent most if my days in bed.:(
I'm on the mend now and looking forward to the week ahead and getting back to MMM
Luckily I had portions of soup in my freezer to sustain me through my illness, that's when I felt like eating, so I made do with that.:)
It also ment that my washing up was to the minimum and I haven't had a full washing load to wash so that's cut the water and electricity down. So something good came out of not being well!:D
I haven't been mending anything but I'm on the lookout for something to tackle.;)Living a frugal retirement without treading on the planet :T
