Hello everyone, not much MMM today just more knitting, I'm doing what is called a baby bunting basically is like a sleeping bag with sleeves and a collar and buttons up the front. So only minimised some wool from my stash and evening meal was using some HM lasagna and the last if my Aldee super six salad from just after Christmas only thing that is left is cucumber which will be used with a tin of salmon I bought in for Christmas and didn't get used. I've also still got 4 vacuum packs of beetroot.
It's been mild again today so I put a gillet on and no heating at it was 17.8 degrees in the lounge.
Why pay full price when you may get it YS ;)
  • Evening all

When did it get to this time of the day - does anyone else find time just flashes past???

FPK - own lunch - bussing it - definitely sounds MM&M to me!
FunBrum hope you feeling better now

Well today was gonna be an NSD but I went down town to put monies into the bank (I often get paid in cash/by cheque) and my instinct said to me to go into the CS just across the road from the bank. Dunno why but I followed instinct. Got in their and thought 'what is currently on my CS list?'. You see I always have a list in my head of what I need from a CS then when pottering I dont end up buying stuff I dont need (no matter how pretty it is). On my list @ mo is small white side plates. Nope they weren't in there. 'So what else is on my need list?' I asked myself - jeans came the answer - a pair donated to me by a mate who has lost weight are coming to their end and are now a bit big for me TBH. Now I rarely get stuff that fits in CS - other than blokes jumpers. But I have lost weight and there waiting for me were a pair of Per Una dusky purple jeans! Size 16 - would they fit??? They fitted :j even better they were £1.99!! So that saved me some £18 for a new pair. they need taking up so that is tomorrow's chore!!
So making do - food from stores + getting a very cheap pair of jeans
Mending - not yet but lined up for tomorrow
Minimise - food stocks + also have managed to declutter a bit more paperwork today :T

Other good news - car only cost £70 to mend but she needs to go in again and that may be more but at least I now know that strange noise is nowt to worry about safety wise.
    Nite all

Thanks for that silva she's very talented.
I'm still working on DGD cardi, have a pair of jeans to take up and need to take apart and alter a roller blind I got from a cs to see if I can get it to fit my bathroom.
I've been going through my kitchen cupboards and trying to use things up. I have food in 3 cupboards and want to reduce it down to 2.
Leftovers for lunch today and hm meatballs in sauce with pasta tonight.
I'm having problems with my grill, it's a combined oven and grill and every time I switch it on it smokes something awful. Does anyone have any tips on cleaning the element without breaking it or am I better switching it on and leaving it to burn everything off. Thanks

Minimise: looked at my textile and knitting stash and got rid of broken and unusable bits and pieces, then having made space I tidied up the boxes and checked my stats. Most York ok but sadly had to throw away in the compost (as it is pure untreated wool) the front and back of a jumper I had started and not finished as it was infested with old moths and fell apart in my hands, and had to throw away the old and half broken knitting bag thst contained it, as it might have been too contaminated with moth eggs.

Caterina, I would put any other wool or fabric bags that were near the moth-eaten jumper into a freezer for a couple of weeks. That way if there were any eggs or stray moths hanging around, they would be killed. Moth attack is very common here - slightly warmer winters, - and I believe are becoming more frequent in the UK with the warming there too :(

  • Morning all,

lollyfin, I've heard of people using a bicarb paste and leaving it on overnight then scrubbing the next day to get the fat off of the element. I've never tried it, so can't say if it works. Make sure the oven is unplugged or switched off at the wall.

Lynplatinum- well done on the jeans find! I have a list too--a bit more vague things like 'skirts for work.' I also have a rule that I can't buy any clothes that I can't think of at least three outfits they'll go with. This not only saves money, but my own sanity when I'm staring at a wardrobe full of clothes that don't go together wondering why I can't find anything appropriate.
Work from home day today and I'm so glad. Yesterday was a long day. I'm a bit sore from yoga yesterday, so may do the gym tomorrow rather than today, we'll see. Leftover carrot and kidney bean stew for my lunch today and I can't remember what is scheduled for tea today, will check when I go downstairs.

Make do - Trying to use food stuff up from the cupboards and minimising my grocery budget to £40 a week. Currently £6.56 over budget for the month, but I've bought a big bag of pasta which will do into next month and lots of condiment type things to make BBQ sauce, sweet & sour sauce etc instead of buying jars/packets. I also spent £4 on a jar of organic coconut oil as I couldn't find it cheaper anywhere else atm without going hunting in the Asian/European supermarkets which this week I just don't have time for.

Also kind of make do - My daughter bought me an filofax style organiser for Christmas and I'm using it for shopping lists and various budget tracking with the intention that eventually I can take it out with me when I go shopping. However, it has a huge calender section (a week on 2 pages), an address section, and then 2 small sections for notes and to dos, so doesn't fit my needs very well. Yesterday in wilkinsons I had my usual mooch in the clearance section and there's the refills reduced to 75p so I picked a set up. I'm going to use the calender sections for scrap paper, the address section I'll turn into a password section and keep my eye out in charity shops for a file to keep that in and I can add the notes & to dos in this one. I'm going to use some stickers I have to recover the tabs and label them up for A$da, A1di, H0mebargains, Charity, celebrate, school, town, Misc. Then I can add to lists as and when and hopefully start tracking how often I need to buy things and when those things go on sale.

Mend - I broke the main zip on my (blokes) day to day across body messenger bag I've had for about 8 years. I was looking at replacements before Christmas but they were £10+ or that scratchy polyester material. I don't like bags made of that material, ladies ones are generally too small or the bag doesn't zip shut. So I popped into a haberdashery yesterday while in town and picked up a new 18" zip for 88p! I started stitching it in with strong thread last night and 2mm stitches. I'll tackle some more of it later hopefully but I had to stop as it was gone midnight :rotfl:

Complete opposite of minimising though. Lots of shopping done, and my work delivery arrived. However 95% of the work stuff will be leaving the house again very soon. ;)

    Morning MMMers

I've had a lovely lie in this morning as I don't start until 1 today. Was planning to go out and get a few bits but then had a look out the window and changed my mind. We don't need anything that can't wait until tomorrow. So instead I'm going to give the flat a wee clean and catch up on the washing.

I've made a card for my friends birthday tomorrow, got 3 birthdays in February so need to get cracking making some more cards. I also want to plan what I'm getting for gifts so that I can look around for bargains in advance.

Hope everyone has a good day :)
