I shall be reading this thread with interest. There are so many interesting OS threads, that's it's difficult to keep up with them. So my minimize is to pick only 1 or 2 to follow regularly...and this will be one of them.;)
Make do: tonight we will be having the remains of yesterdays roast chicken... cold chicken and salad made of lettuce, radish, beetroot and welsh onions from the garden/allotment and some chopped peppers from Aldi
Mend: hhmmm not sure...will have to think about that one!0 -
Hello MMMers and welcome to imataloss and Crochet Flower
Lyn fab news, so happy for you!
Continuing to minimise things in the old flat, took 3 bags to the CS on Tuesday. Getting there slowly. Minimised most of the freezer stuff so have now defrosted it.
I've managed to get bleach on my favourite pair of jeans. Was hoping one of you lovely people would be able to suggest a dye to save them. They are burgandy so maybe not the easiest colour to dye.Mortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500 1.8.25 - £106,362.86

Hello MMMers and ex lurkers
Lyn congrats on having your own home again so glad the light at the end of the tunnel came sooner rather than later.
Not posted for awhile been busy, DD has now finished work for mat leave so I've been busy catching up on jobs that I've let slip.
I've booked another 4 night break for next year at my usual £41.28.
I'm currently pet sitting for DS we've got his cameleon and he's fed on live locus, I've given that job to DH yuk.
Make do: still using items out of the freezers.
Minimise : a lot of baby items are now at DD ready for the new arrival.
Mend : the bathroom window upvc had to take the tilt and turn handle off and reset after a quick google fault finding mission.
Hugs to all those who may need one. xWhy pay full price when you may get it YS0 -
Hi all!
Sorry for the delay in posting this - still can't remember my login details!
Went Eid shopping on Tuesday evening at @sd@ and completely re-stocked my store cupboard for under £40! 20kg of basmati rice for £18 (cheapest I've been able to find it is £1.20 per kilo and this is less than £1 a kilo). We only used 10kg last year (just finished the last of it, so should have more than enough now) Stocked upon on the spices I was running short on - all at 50p a packet for 100g (they had 300-500g bags too for around the £1.50 mark) and wheatfree flours (rice, proper corn flour and maize) for between 50-70p for 500g and loads of snacks (bombay mix and suchlike) all wheatfree and all less than £1 for 300-500g bags!!!! I am all stocked up until next Eid now
There was LOADS of other stuff - especially if you wanted the breads and suchlike so if you're in a high Asian area, might be worth popping in.....especially as this branch is a relatively small one so you may have even better bargains in a bigger store....
Apologies for any errors - one handed typing at the min due to recovering from my carpal tunnel surgery!
Take care of yourselves xxx0 -
Thanks for the reminder Celtic - I always use the Asian stores for my spices as they always seem to have much larger quantities at a much cheaper price - and the flavours often seem more intense.
managed to clear a load of paperwork yesterday but it doesn't seem to have had much impact:( DH has been chopping logs for the last three days to stock the woodpile up for winter. There's always loads of sawdust from the chainsaw so I'll text the chicken lady for her to collect - at least that will be something out of the way!
Busy weekend ahead - out tonight with the 'girlies' and a charity BBQ tomorrow with DH - probably spend Sunday recovering lol
Have a good evening all xSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
I too try to us the asian shops for spices, far better value than those tiny shwartz pots that dry up far too quickly0

Thanks Celtic I may pop over to the Asda in our Asian peeps area going near there on Monday. xWhy pay full price when you may get it YS0

I find that our spices all keep their flavour & intensity as they're all kept in a dark drawer, and tightly packed together2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

I buy all the asian spices in our Mr M. We live in an area where there are lots of Asians. I stock up with somethings for Christmas too. Nuts for example they keep well in sealed tubs.
Where do you keep your rice celtic_moon? I always look at the big sacks but I don't know what to get to keep it in. Will have to keep it in my bedroom. Would save us a lot as we use more than a kilo of rice a weeks.
I keep meaning to go to our nearest Asian supermarket, it's about a mile away. What puts me off is, it's uphill all the way home. I have stocked up on tinned tomatoes too as they are four for £1 and as good quality as the Italian ones. Well they are Italian, packed in Italy and labelled in Birmingham. Probably the same ones as the very expensive brands.0 -
So pleased for you Lynplatinum. I hope you will have many many happy years in your new home. I am amazed at the way you have managed over the last few weeks/ months. Well done, you are an inspiration to us all.:j:j2025 Fashion on the ration
