Evening. Been Missing in action due to real life and work being mega busy with deadline after deadline coming along.
Bargain huntress, I used mine to stuff a draught excluder thingy along with an old cushion that was too flat to be comfy any more.
The poor garden and house have been neglected, but I did manage to make lots of cakes from stores for the celebrations for the queen the village held last weekend. I think that says more about my stores rather than my generosity!
Pudding tonight is yoghurt and 29p melon from wait rose earlier this evening.
We are challenging ourselves not to use the car tomorrow so we will be either cycling or walking into town tomorrow, to pay some money into the bank and to return a couple of bits I had got for my mum which weren't suitable. Not using the car does require a fair bit of planning when you live in rural areas, and while we have a bus it's not very regular.

Hoping to minimise the washing pile and weeds from the garden as well this weekend.

Have been busy with work recently.
Been minimizing the freezer and not been shopping for over a week now. It helps that DS2 is away for a week. Have also tidied his room to make room for all his stuff from uni which is all coming home in a couple of weeks. Been using veg from the garden before the slugs eat them.
I have mended a couple of tops with tiny holes in but otherwise great condition.

    Hi everyone,
Good luck claire1a, I officially finished working last week after 32 years teaching - a great job and I really loved it but I'd had enough and felt it was time to go.

Minimising: I've been busy decorating the kitchen and DD1 has been decorating her room - so stuff everywhere but it also gave us the chance to get rid of some stuff which has gone in either the CS box or car boot box. We finished the kitchen just in time for our Macmillan summer lights party last weekend when we raised over £100 with friends and family.
Mending: a huge pile is looking at me as I speak.
Make do: using up some YS bread buns/fingers/burgers/sausages from the freezer this afternoon. It's warm and sunny here so we thought we would chance a BBQ.

    Hiya All

Many thanks for the viewpoint on dried milk - it might be better than it used to be (I haven't used it for about 10 years!) so I might well give it another go. Was thinking of the UHT stuff before hand and havent used that for years either but your comment about bulk being an issue was one I had not thought of thank you. :A

Treasurequeen - minimise minimise minimise - I know that I have moved with a load of rubbish. (for those that dont know I am currently between houses and staying with a series of friends) Moving around really emphasises how little one actually needs! :D

So today I was repacking my car - and realised that I should throw more stuff out that is really old - such as a battered frying pan that has seen better days and paper work that I had never looked at for ages!! (not stuff that is to do with tax etc that one has to keep for 7 years).

Make do today: Food from small stocks that I have bought - still living on the 10 t-shirts (2 long sleeved and one strappy other short sleeved) I packed 2 months ago! (I am doing one wash a week and ironing nothing - makes life so much simpler!!.

Mend - have taken up some trousers bought in a sale for summer!

    Nite all
    Fruggal onward! :D
Aim for Sept 17: 20/30 days to be NSDs  NSDs July 23/31 (aim 22) :j
NSDs 2015:185/330 (allowing for hols etc)
LBM: started Jan 2012 - still learning!

  • Afternoon all! And another week begins! :j
    Plan for this week...
Make do...things in fridge and freezer as won't be able to go shopping until next week.
Mend....a top of mine has a few seams that need fixing so hoping I have the right thread in for that! Also making a wool phone case thingy from a knitting book I found on my bookshelf..so I suppose I'm 'mending' the wool into something useful? :p
Minimise...going for lunch in Morecambe tomorrow, so hoping to take some bits to the charity shop on the way.

Hope everyone is having an ok monday so far! xx

Minimising and making do at the same time DD gave me some left over bits from last nights dinner so tonight I shall minimise it by eating it and making do by not using hardly anything except some gravy powder to make the gravy :):):) I have some slices of roast lamb, several roast spuds, some cooked broccoli and carrots and even a cold mad small yorkshire pudding so all of that will go into my remoska for reheating and I will just make up a little gravy to pour over the top. Instant dinner and hardly any cooking :):):)

Mending I guess will be my knitting for my charity blankets :):)

Spent the day in the garden yesterday harvesting some rhubarb the second yield already this year. Made it into a rhubarb and cinnamon crumble which I have popped in the freezer for another day. Went shopping today and had a free M&S drink. Have been umming and ahhing about a top I saw in there and had a £10.00 voucher from surveys and 20% off so got it at a better price. Still minimising for my flat a few more paperback thrown into the charity bag. Tea tonight was stir fry using up the leftover veggies. Nothing needed mending today.
