If the Kings of the frozen potato can freeze baked potatoes so can you iamsalt. Why not put them in the spaces between other things when you have the oven on.

When you take them out of the oven cut your crosses and put some butter in. I would suggest you wrap them in kitchen towel and put them in a plastic bag individually. When you want to use them put them in the microwave for a few minutes to warm them up and make sure they are defrosted. You could use the grill to crisp them up again if you need to. I have frozen them when I lived alone. They were fine.

I too have frozen jacket spuds when I get space in the freezer as I am running it down to defrost.empy space in a freezer costs money to keep cold, when I have enough room to do a complet defrost I run what I have left round to my Dds five minutes away and chuck in her spare box freezer until my freezer is clean and ready to refreeze again .I defrost a spud and microwave it to reheat throughout & and crisp it up in the remoska for 10 minutes once it almost ready

Minimized a frozen pizza that I can't remember buying. Sometime last year but when? It was fine. I added hamburger (beef mince) onion and green chile that I had scrambled. Threw extra cheese on top and OH wolfed it down.:D
Overprepare, then go with the flow.

    Morning all.
adam ant was brill last night, did all the good stuff and venue was packed.
Thank you for the comments about the dress, I was a bit too big and kept slipping off my shoulder so I'm going to see if I can put some pleats in the waist band to pull it in. It was a pattern that came with a recent sewing magazine. I rarely buy them now but really liked this pattern.

Afternoon all. Managed to coral puss this morning and get the cone collar on her. I had to cut it down as she's quite small otherwise she wouldn't be able to eat. She's now in a huge sulk under the bed after trying to get this one off. I expect she'll come out when she smells the tuna that I've got for her tea ;)
All downstairs windows cleaned on the inside, including frames and windowledges, mirrors and glass doors. Just need to summon up the energy to do upstairs - might do it in a bit as there's not so much glass. Dinner tonight will be a chilli from the freezer as its grey here and the temperature has dropped by about 10 degrees.
Thanks for the info on freezing baked spuds. DH likes the biggest I can find so in the summer when they're quite sparse I'll will freeze some for him

Morning everyone can't sleep so I thought I would get on with my day instead of lying in bed waiting to go back to sleep. The light mornings tend to mean i wake earlier in summer anyway, and I am working in the big city today so might nap on the train.
Thanks for the potato advice, it's given me the confidence to cook a number and get them in the freezer. Need to remember not to buy huge sacks of potatoes in summer as they don't last as long despite the money saved by buying in bulk.
Minimised, a bag for the charity shop. Oh should be passing there today and it will get it out of the house.
Mended- well more decided a pair of jeans I love aren't fixable to wear in public any more, they have worn through on the inner thigh and although I redid the seam before it needs patching and they will become gardening trousers, while the current ones will be retired for rags.
Made do - have weighed out ingredients into bags to take to holiday cottage, as I ring they don't often have scales, so I have a ready to mix with butter bag for twinks hobnobs, Yorkshire pudding mix, and a Victoria sponge mix. They can come back if we don't use them but I think the kids (niece and nephew) will enjoy making them as a distraction if they start needling each other.
silvasava , hope the cone stays on puss,
Jackieo always interesting to experiment with freebie food, even if to rule it out for buying yourself
MrsMP - sounds like you had a wonderful time
    Have a lovely day all

iamsalt :) best way to experiment I think as you have gained insight into different products :) I will eat the stuff I have made for lunches over the next few days and the rest of it will get used as an addition to other things.I must say I do prefer the fresh veg soup.

Great way to use up Y/S stuff as well.
Today I have a white cabbage that will be used as the main veg for other meals.
I also have four sweet potato's in the veg rack and two small ordinary spuds.I am trying to use up what I have in store before buying more On my shopping list at the moment is tomato's,lettuce and cucumber, bananas and a pot of ground black pepper , so nothing I can't live without just for a day or so its use it before buying theme this week.In my fruit bowls I have 6 gala apples five conferance pears and an orange, so again I can use them before buying more. I am going to have a good delve amongst my cupboards and see what I can find to use up today.

I spotted a packet mix of Birds instant semolina at the back of one cupboard last night so that will get dug out, and see if I can use it for a pudding tonight. Can't even remember buying it, or why, as I usually make rice pud in the SC a huge 2 pint one:)

Meals this coming week will be hopefully from my store cupboards
and /or freezer as I want if nothing else to get some space in the cupboards as they seem to be very full of odds and ends.

Earlier this week I had my friend to lunch and I had said to her 'Oh I must get to the shops at some point this week as I'm running short of food' :) and she looked at me and said 'Never in all the 46 years I've known you have you ever run short of anything. Your cupboards are always full.

She was right so I bet her that I could eat my way through at least one of my 6 cupboards and buy as little shopping as possible this coming month so that's my task for the next few weeks minimising my over-large food stocks :):):)

I have made a list (I am an inveterate list writer ) and my menu's for the next month will hopefully be from what I have indoors and I shall only buy the very minimal amount of fresh food (fruit and veg, milk etc) Its going to be an interest month ahead :):):)

    So Today's meals will be

Breakfast two weetabix and milk and a cup of tea

Lunch HM soup (from the stuff I made yesterday) three rice cakes with pate from the fridge on top, an orange plus a cuppa

Dinner: Sweet jacket potato with a venison burger from the freezer and some steamed white cabbage and some mushrooms also form the fridge,
pudding will be the semolina from the packet.

I have told her I will prove it can be done and what I don't spend on food in June will go towards my Race for Life fund on 9th July. Some odd mixtures of food ahead of me but its only just sitting there so it will get eaten
    :):):)

    Morning all
Hugs and good wishes to those who need them
Hoe the pusscats are behaving themselves and poorly ones recovering well.

Altered dress to make it fit better so that can count as mending.
Ds1 rather annoyed that broken gut air will cost more to fix than a new one so sadly it will have to be replaced.
Hoping to minimise mo fabric stash by making another dress.
Will make do with something from the freezer or fridge for dinner and tea.

Dd3 popped round last night with a protype wedding favour she'd made, it looked really good so will go into production on those with her nearer the time.

Got some tidying to do before work and Drs appt later to discuss some results.
    Have a good day all

Afternoon everyone. Well it's wet and miserable here so it's indoor stuff today.
I love the dress Mrs M.
I watched Mean queen on Rip of Britain. She really is quite an inspiration.
Minimised: I've put a box in the hall and when I find something I no longer want, I pop it in for a car boot we are hoping to do next month. It's already half full. As I type OH is going through his book shelves to see what he wants to keep and what he doesn't.
Make do: Lots of soup making this morning with leftover/bendy veg: spicy carrot/lentil and leek and potato. I've got all my freezer boxes lined up with soup in. Once they are frozen solid, I transfer them to plastic bags and put in the 'Make do' drawer of the freezer.
Rescued some plastic bottles from my recycling bin to make into little cloches. Bloomin' slugs/snails have twice destroyed my little gem lettuces so far this year:mad: I've realised the bottom bits I cut off could make little beer traps to trap the b******s.
Mending: Still not repaired mine and OH's jackets! I've also got to repair the shower door - one of the wheelie things (technical term!) had snapped off and the manufacturer have sent me two new ones.
    Have a good day everyone.
