Afternoon mmmers, hope everyone is as well as can be.
Laundry basket is empty, I'm just about to minimise the ironing pile, the kitchen widow sill has covered in pots has now almost all been planted outside so is looking much tidier. All recycling and shredding done and put out.
Put a bird feeding station together for mil so that counts as a make and the packaging has been put out into her recycling.
Going to make a lasagne for tea using up some sad veggies from the fridge.SPC~12 ot 124

Hi All,
Have now recovered from organising Dad's 60th birthday party at the weekend and are still making do with the left over food (well DH is, I've not really).
Have had lots of success on the minimising front though - sold a couple more bits on ebay and posted them yesterday and this morning have been to the tip with a few bits that, despite trying for several weeks, we've been unable to freecycle.
Lack of work today means I'm determined to crack on with to-do list - tidying the study is next - after a cuppa and kitty cuddles
Have a good day all!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Hello all you fellow MMMer's the weather is absolute rubbishy it's not stopped raining for 2 days and nights, so I've not been able to get the jobs done in the garden. At least I was up to date with the washing and ironing.
Make do: Ordered a sea life entry ticket off Tesco site ready for our break next week DGS will love that, we'll take drinks and a packed lunch with us and use our bus passes to get there. So a good cheap day out.
Minimised: 2 steaks out of the freezer, I got them from the company shop so 8oz x2 for £3.97
Mend: knitting and sewing up

Hello everyone and good morning,
I've had to come to DD she's expecting a delivery. We've had no childcare duties this week as DGS has gone to his Dad's, but we've been looking after the dog at our house.
I've got DGS bag to pack ready for our break on Monday we're off to Suffolk until Friday. The weather forecast seems good and the caravan site is at the side of a lovely beach direct access. We was last there when our children were small, I think it was about 1997 and we saw loads of seals swimming along the waters edge. Fingers crossed DGS will see some this time, Roo loves his little breaks with momma and grandpa. We've been taking him from 9months old and we go several times a year, I'll hate it when he starts school and our breaks will be reduced, we have so much fun and I love giving him different experiences. Oh happy times......
Minimise: the grass finally got cut last night after all the rain.
Make do: I've taken out a pack of B eye burgers, I must have got them for DS when he lived at home, so they need using and free some freezer space. So it's going to be cheese burgers and wedges this evening.
No Mending to do unless something turns up, I'll be knitting of course.
Hugs to all those that may one and here's to the weekend for the workers amongst us. xWhy pay full price when you may get it YS0 -
Hiya
Wow - how things have changed on here - ended up seeing everything in a new style but now Ive logged in properly I am back to the familiar format!! Phew!
You may be wondering what had happened to me - its nearly a month since I ve posted. Well, bottom line its this daft business - remind me, once I am settled never, ever, ever to do anything so stupid again!!! If necessary hog tie me, throw me in a car boot, and take me away to somewhere and repeatedly douse me with cold water should I ever suggest such a thing! PROMISE me now, dear MM&Mers!!!
Without a protracted story - I have been let down by surveyors; solicitors (NEVER EVER use Convey law!!!), my buyer's bank, my buyer for the other house withdrawing his offer and person who had offered to move stuff to my son's house (am downsizing and giving him some of my furniture). Good people: my MK conveyancers (Bridgeman Kettle); my MK Estate Agents (Aztec); my Hayle Estate Agents (Berwicks) all of whom have worked hard to minimise the effects of sheer stupidity on the part of others!!
Sooooo MM&Ming!! Am eating up the very last of stocks - so today ate the last of the cornflakes; my friend came to lunch and we had the last of my carrots (plus chicken in mustard cream sauce and broccoli) plus a can of apricots and pack of crumble mix (a gift - I usually make my own) and am about to eat the last of the frozen crumpets and honey for my tea!
Further minimising - 3 bags of shredding + one bag to the charity shop + 3 tip runs. Had to laugh - minimised my collection of bottles for making wine into the recyling - they made a heck of a racket as they were tipped into the recyling truck and a rather uptight neighbour was walking past at the time and stuck her nose up in the air in disgust!!! :rotfl: Well - I ll be leavin her with somat to talk about at least!
Making do - without a table, one of the sofas and my big unit for filing in. Without all ingredients to make things - very good for me - its making me more inventive!
Mending - nowt as too busy clearing out - just when you think youre done another cupboard full of carp comes and looms at you!!
Glad to see you back Viv - also How much and Jackie O. Welcome new folks - this is a fab friendly place to be!! what with MM&M + reclaiming over the last 18 months I have manged to save £3,000 which is what is allowing me to move house at all. With luck that will be sooner than I currently think! Such inspirational folk on here (BTW I earnt a lot lot less than the National Average wage these past two years!)

Just found this thread and wanted to say I really believe in making do and mending. We would all be so much better off if everyone did... except perhaps the greedy people behind the world of commerce who would like us all to just keep spending. My most recent make do and mend was the patio furniture. Bought about 20 years ago - a plastic set of table and four chairs... did not cost that much when new and after a winter they were looking sad and grimy. For one weak moment I considered taking them to the tip and buying something new but then I was inspired by that BBC program where a woman accosts people throwing away "rubbish" takes it away and creates something new and possibly useful which she sells on and takes the profit back to the original owner. So I thought, if she can breath new life into the most unlikely of objects surely I can do something with my white plastic patio set. In the end it was easy - a scrub down with some bleach and it was sparkling white again and ready for the barbecue season.0
