Oh Lyn you do need one of my hugs (((((Lyn))))) life's real given you a horrid kick. Hope everything comes good in the end. I did think you was busy moving, I was concerned when Viv disappeared too, because we are ladies of a certain age one never knows. But I'm glad you've checked in like Viv did.
Yes getting back to basic it's surprising what amount of money you can get by without spending. I can still admire things but no longer have the need to buy. I've been working my way through the bedroom and I'm shocked by the amount of clothes which still have the price tag still attached, it shows I didn't need them or I would have worn them. I kept kidding myself it was because I had to wear a uniform for work, but I've been finished almost 6 months and they're still there. I've decided I shall wear just a few pair of shoes and then throw them out when they get shabby or worn out. I don't want to give them to the chazz shop because I've paid good money for them, so I'm going to wear them out and then move on to others to cut down on the quantity.
Well I've had a good day at DD the deliver came at 12.15 but I still had to stay there as it was on a pallet outside, so I did the washing for her and even manned to get it all ironed too. I did a good amount of knitting too currently doing a 4 ply matinee coat which grows slowly.
I managed to get DGS clothes packed ready for our break next week, I will do our packing after I've been to the hairdressers tomorrow.
Oh and 2 t shirts of future SIL need a couple of stitches in DD says the washing machine put 2 very small holes in them at the weekend so I'll be taking a needle and thread over on Sunday.
Hug to anyone who needs one and have a nice weekend. xWhy pay full price when you may get it YS0 -

Lyn good to see you back but sorry to hear of the problems you've been having with the move.
HOWMUCH enjoy your break away.
creativemieu welcome to the thread.
Wrote a long post last night and then my laptop decided to freeze so here goes again...
Have continued my wardrobe clearout and now have two bags to take to the charity shop, will try and remember to do that over the weekend. I also did a clear out of my desk, filed everything that needed and have a pile of shredding to do at some point.
Repaired the chipped tile in my kitchen, pleased with my handiwork as DIY is generally not something I'm good at.
Wasn't particularly hungry tonight so just had some poppadoms and dips for tea which used up two jars of dips and has freed up some fridge space. Seem to having issues with my stomach again so trying to be very careful with what I eat. OH got me a gluten free cookbook for my birthday so looking forward to trying some recipes from that.
Made meritaten's peanut butter cookies at the start of the week and will definitely be making again - very yummy
Hope everyone has a good weekend.Mortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500 1.8.25 - £106,362.86
Mortgage overpayment savings - £3.33/£50
Mortgage overpayments so far - £675.980 -
Hi chums ,still eating my way through the freezer and cupboards, haven't been near a shop at all this week as part of the week I was in France for my brothers funeral.Still worn out from the long drive down to the other side of Poitiers and back.
Back home now, and doing my best to not go shopping at the moment ,still got far too much stuff in stock.
I WILL get the blooming freezer emptied even if it means virtually not buying anything at all:):)
So definitely making do with everything I can
Good luck with the move Lynn, I think your very brave I don't think I could move again I am well and truly rooted tiny little cottage (my late OH and I downsized in 1995) best thing we ever did.Moving house is an absolute nightmare with so many things that can go wrong at the last minute, but fingers crossed it will be full steam ahead now.
Hope everyone has a good weekend ,bit cooler this week I think
Cheers JackieO xx0 -
Glad you made it safely back Jackie. Thought of you while you were there.
I made do and minimized by cooking a spaghetti (left over) frittata to go with the chicken cacciatore (made from cheap sale chicken thighs) Both recipes helped used up veggies lurking in the crisper.
I hate to mend.Overprepare, then go with the flow.

Morning All.
Oh Lynn - you've been hit from all sides by the sound of it. Do hope you can get back on an even keel soon.
Busy day yesterday trying to whittle The List down! Finally managed to put the last lot of the washed holiday clothes away. Had a small cull too while I was at it so 3 pairs of cut offs going to the CS. I'll try to get in there today with some other bits too. I did a small pile of mending and some tidying in the garden in between a load of washing. A fairly productive day.
Today DGD is coming to minimise my grey roots and I shall be minimising roots of weeds in the front garden! I need to get a photo done for my driving licence too. I've still got the old green one from '74!!
Have a good day all xSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Good week so far. Two people have got either a birthday or a new baby so I've minimised some of my old gift bags. Just gotta remember to take the label off saying love from mum and dad!
Nearly found a home for our unwanted electric fire and marble hearth but it wasn't wanted. Damn! Any takers?
My friend is a teacher overseas and we're off to see her soon. She's after craft stuff for the kiddies, very hard to get hold of where she is. I sorted through my sewing box and found loads of buttons (quite a few from clothes I've long got rid of! ) plus quite a few bits of ribbon etc. On the hunt for some more now.
Happy Eurovision everyone x0 -
Feel like I've been a little AWOL as I've had a really busy week. I haven't been posting but I have kept up with my MMMing. I've had a lovely quiet hour catching up with everyone's posts and I feel quite inspired!
Today I have packed away my winter clothes. I washed costs, scarves, gloves etc and had my boots re-heeled and they are all in storage bags in the attic. My summer clothes are all hung up or put away except the stuff that needs an iron which I'll do tomorrow.
I did get together a large bag of clothes and shoes that I haven't worn for at least a year. I took it straight to the charity bins at Asda so I didn't fall into the trap of having it cluttering up the hall for weeks so it was a definite minimise.
Mend - a scratch on my car where I scraped it earlier in the week. It cost me a staggering £8.95 for the primer and paint kit but it does look nearly as good as new and a garage would have cost a fortune.
Make do - hm pancakes for breakfast, soup out of the freezer with ys bread for lunch and hm pizza using fridge bits and some doughballs using some of the pizza base dough.
Hope everyone's having a nice weekend

making do with the hotel food
I'm not doing much MENDING but will have a few things to mend when I get home. Lol :rotfl:
There was no Wi-Fi access when I was with my friend, so in a way I'm glad to be back into civilisation and able to post :T

Just minimised several bags of rubbish at the tip, recycled loads of cardboard, wood and plasterboard. Onto the next stage of renovating, twill be nice when it's all done but 2 years of living in a building site is starting to wear thin! (Sigh)
However, when we went to the tip, someone was throwing out a glass topped tv stand/table. Just the right size and shape for the lounge when we've finished it, so I asked the lady who was near it if it was hers and could we have it. Just spent an hour cleaning off the cobwebs and garage dust, (chrome bits smell of toothpaste now as that's what I cleaned them with, worked a treat! ) glass is all shiny shiny, job done! Saved it from landfill, saved us buying one, everyone's a winner!0
