I too decided that my sanity and happiness was worth more than the pittance I was earning. I also lurked on this thread last year and got some great ideas and inspiration, so thanks to all for that.
I have had to replace my dog walking jacket as my old one had truly died, but I removed the quilted lining, took out the sleeves and now have a light gilet to wear under my new jacket and my posh raincoat as well. I tried it out this morning and was toasty! Very pleased with myself!!
I really like the idea of screen free time and will definitely make an effort to make it happen.
Happy new year.
Well done Nonnadiluca what a good idea. I'm going to ''re-invent' some of my jackets. ThanksLiving a frugal retirement without treading on the planet :T

Hi All,
Lyn it sounds like you're having a very stressful time of it - I hope things get moving in the right direction soon!
Minimised the triffid-like rhubarb yesterday into two crumbles - one for us, one for nan - and some stalks which my aunt was thrilled to have (apparently her garden doesn't like rhubarb). Also managed to freecycle a little tool keyring and have listed some manuscript paper on there. More bits on ebay too, so hopefully they'll be off soon.
Lack of work today has meant plenty of jobs have been done - can I count doing the hand washing as mending?!
Made do with some rather soft potatoes for dinner last night - the mash wasn't great but it was edible!
That's all for now. Have a lovely holiday How Much!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Afternoon all hugs to all that need one and I hope everyone is as well as can be.
Welcome to the new and returning mmmers.
Really busy over the weekend unblocked a storm drain which I think counts as mending, fitted a drain diverter to the down pipe and got the water butt rigged up. Took off and old rotted garage door rehung a new one and stained it using up a tin of stain we had in. Old door chopped up and taken in to DHs works work recycling skip. Minimised a load of junk form mils garage, metal has been put out for scrap man and glass put in recycling bank. Almost felt like I went to work for a rest today.
Going to do salad for tea and while marcella is on I'll do some knitting. Will need to catch up with sewing bee another night as they clash.SPC~12 ot 124

My son unplugged the kitchen sink with sulfuric acid (kitchen still slightly reeks) and a plunger. It ended up costing 10x less that when we had the plumber unstop it before Christmas. Whoopee!!!:j:j:j:j:j:beer::Overprepare, then go with the flow.

Morning all.
Milasavesmoney, I read somewhere that it's good practice to occasionally put a good amount of washing soda crystals into your plug hole and melt them down with enough hot water to dissolve them, then you leave that over night and it keeps any build up of greasy reside to a minimum and minimises risk of blockage.
I do it when I think about it at mine and mils as I clean for her.
Hope all are well.
Not sure yet what my plans are today.SPC~12 ot 124

I did a quick repair on our greenhouse yesterday.
It is a metal frame with polycarbonate 'glass' and someone has given the frame a wallop bending it so that the pane left a big gap down one side.
It must have been the guys putting up the fence last winter I think(they had to use a digger to get a tree out ).
Luckily , I had a tube of silicone in my toolbox so was able to fill in the gap .
Today I am endevouring to mend my little android tablet..Im not holding out much hope but I shall give it my best shot.0 -
Still on holiday so not much MMMing, apart from,
minimizing the delicious salads from my plate,
Making do with the last dregs of sunscreen, as I'm determined not to buy any more for this trip. I I have more at home so I will save my euro's.
Can't really think of anything to Mend until I get home
Hope you are all having a super day:)Living a frugal retirement without treading on the planet :T

Painted the doorframe around the door we hung on the garage at the weekend which sort of counts as a mend. Then I did all the ironing so that's a minimise, the laundry basket was emptied into the wm this morning and that all on the line waiting to dry. Hopefully before tonight's forecast rain comes.
Tea will be salad and new pots that we have in.
Then I'll knit while marcella is on and hopefully catch up with last nights sewing bee.SPC~12 ot 124

Thanks Mrs M, I will start making this suggestion a monthly habit. My son told me to do the same thing, only to unplug it. We tried but it was too stopped up. About a month ago, I had switched to ice tea with lemon wedges and was putting those wedges through the garbage disposal. Between the grease in the line and those lemon grounds it must have created the stoppage. So keeping the grease cleared out is something I need to do regularly. I have no idea why I wasn't putting those wedges in the compost, because I put everything else in there.Overprepare, then go with the flow.

Hi everyone:)
I'm in the midst of another busy week as I've become an exam marker to earn some extra money which will be very useful but on top of a full time job it's proving a challenge - I'm pooped:(
On the plus side, not a spare minute to spend:j
Minimise - got up early and did the ironing before the kids surfaced and the basket is thankfully empty.
Make do - made French toast with some rather dry bread for breakfast which was yummy. Lunch was soup from the freezer with ys rolls and tea was chicken pie using up the left over roast chicken and some pastry odds and ends from the freezer. There was some broccoli and cauliflower cheese left over so I made that into soup and there is enough for two decent lunches.
Mend. - there's plenty to do but not found the time. A drawstring to replace in a laundry bag, a cushion cover with a hole and a torn belt loop on my jeans. Must get it done at the weekend.
Pp xOriginal mortgage £112,000 . Final payment due August 2027.
Mortgage neutral achieved August 2020 - 7 years early!!!0
