It is huge, measuring about 7x9 feet! But it has repurposed about 3 black bags full of things that would have just sat in the bottom of wardrobes or ottomans being unuseful and waiting to die in storage.

So Fabulous - what a great idea :T:T

    Evening all

It's been a funny day here, beautiful sunshine one minute and snow the next. Thankfully didn't get caught out in the snow. Had a day off work so did a big food shop and went to the library. Plan for this evening is to relax with a book.

Spent some time last night going through my makeup and getting rid of anything that I haven't used for a while or that has gone a bit gunky. Also finally got round to tackling my small mending pile last night as I found my sewing kit.

    Good Morning all,
yesterday I'd dug out a 'meat' looking thing from the freezer ,turned out to be a bit of squashed pork chop which I defrosted and flattened out and had for dinner with some mash.left over bit of cauliflower and some string beans all from the freezer. Also found in the cupboard a strawberry flavoured angel delight sachet (tesco's one :)) which expired in May 2015, but half a pint of milk later it was revived and made up and I had half for my pudding The other half will do for tonight's pud:)I also dug out three packets of what appears to be scotch braising beef and this morning once defrosted will go for a ride in my SC for the day, along with some sliced carrot, diced onions, left over mushrooms a dollop of lazy garlic and a glug of red wine.By tonight it should be nicely mullered into a decent casserole .Some of which I will scoff with some left over mash from last night and the rest will be portioned up for the freezer for meals next week. Can't believe I am making casseroles when its almost May .Blooming cold here still and no sign of the spring or summer as yet.
Making do this week with stuff in store to eat and not going anywhere near a shop if I can help it.I found this stash of packet mixes in the cupboard, and have a couple of butterscotch angel delight type things and also a semolina one.As I have run out of custard powder I am going to use them up before I buy anything else.I still have 7 oranges in the fruit bowl so thats enough for the weekend at least and I may make an orange drizzle cake with one for a change.
Onwards and upwards chums ,no mending at least to do, but probably a bit of minimising of the paper mountain in my study.I wonder why the Halifax keep sending me statement for an account I closed several years ago and haven't used for at least four years. It even says on the Statement 'account closed ' and its just more clutter and paper work to bin Grr.. I am sinking under this flood of junk mail

    Cheers chums

It's a wonder they are not charging you for sending the statement JackieO.

I closed my credit card with them over three years ago but they keep sending me emails saying you have not looked at you statement for three months. Please look at or else. They they send it again 3 months late. There must be a glitch in the programming for statements.

If you go over to online banking you won't get any statements and you can check your balance any time you want to. I have all of my bills on line now no more paperwork to shred any more. Some companies reduce you bill for online statements.

misstara we had weather like that two days ago it was just rain or sleet or hail and bitter cold yesterday and finishing up with a dramatic thunder and lightening storm.

Back to winter food will have a cottage pie today.

    Good afternoon MMMer's,
Well we also are having an odd bag of weather and in 1 day, sun, wind, rain, snow and it's cold so an indoors day. We are still stocked up with food so don't have to go out and the washing is done and dried for this week. It's a sign it's a bank holiday with the weather.
I'm minimising my stash of wool.
I'm making do with food out of the freezer.
I'm going to mend some of DD maternity trousers she needs new button on the elastic waist and I've also go to repair a seam of a baby toy.
Hugs to all of you who need one x
Why pay full price when you may get it YS ;)

I got some YS roasted veg a couple of days ago so added this to diced chicken, chopped tomatoes, cannellini beans, fajita beans and fresh mushrooms with herbs and spices to make a casserole meal for tonight. There should be enough for me and a dd if one pops round plus a couple of portions for freezing.

My new sofa arrived this morning so the old one is in the garage till I can give it away. The old dismantled fitted wardrobe is just being taken away by one of the builders who can find a use for it.

My bathroom is nearly finished as the shower will be put in on Tuesday and there is just grouting and floor tiling to be done.

I have made a list of what I want for the upstairs bathroom and that might be started next week with a bit of luck. My kitchen is about to be ordered with a waiting list of about five weeks so hope to be all done by summer.

  • I was about to post earlier in the week when I looked out of the window to see hailstones pelting down! I rushed out to bring the washing in and put it on the clothes airer in the garage. We went into our town centre yesterday and I was freezing. I'd put my boots away thinking we were leaving the cold behind but I have got them out again this morning.
My new chest freezer was delivered this week so I have been out and about buying YS meat and fish. I started a new inventory of the contents and mum gave me some large re-useable supermarket bags in blue and green to store fish and veg/fruit. I also kept the baskets from my old freezer to organise the contents so I know where things are. I'll be making lots of portioned meals this weekend to freeze.

Well official retirement from work is the middle of July so to celebrate OH and I have booked a holiday for then. Sooo looking forward to it.

Hello everyone, looks like everyone has done well on the food front.

I just want to say woohoo, it's a long weekend. I have started a conversation with my manager about working my full time job as compressed hours over 9days rather than 10, and I was trying this week to see how I might get on with it, as I can get very tired. It's been a bit tiring, but as I get into a routine I think it will get easier, so will keep going for now.
I minimised my car this morning. Shameful that it had sat on my drive for 18 months before I found the roundtuit motivation.
We have managed not to have any takeaway this week, despite me working late and us being out most evenings, although dinners have been random or late in the evening.

jackieo - hope you had a good trip away. Good to see you back, and you have reminded me that there is some angel delight somewhere in my cupboards

Eta - savingpennies - how exciting, the end is in sight!

Looking forward to a busy MMM weekend.
