Hi, I'm going to let the house, which will need spending some money on it first! yes, you're right, there needs to be a list of whats acceptable and whats not, so everyone is clear and there are no suprises
So pleased that you and OH are about to move on to the next stage.

Only went through it once when DD was mid-teens - then partner and I bought place together but she always got on with him until we began to break up so I’m not really a lot of help here.

I think dawny is right about the house rules though. It will be his home too. Have you told them yet?

Yes I've told them. DS is fine with it, he likes OH and his house is bigger than ours. It's aso closer to college and his girl friends. DD has more concerns, but his accepting of the situation/ It will need carefully handling, as we've had moves in the past before that have gone wrong and I'm loath to repeat the same mistakes. But I can't put my life on hold indefinately.

I am at home all week, still working my notice, 2 months left and feels like forever. Being very lazy but no-one seems to have noticed! I will make the most of this week, as I have to go abroad next week and do some actual work.

My car is booked in at the end of the week, I managed to drive into a post and dented the wing, so £320 to have that repaired, annoying  Then a service next week too, so an expensive month car wise.

This week I pledge to cook with what we have in the freezer and cupboards only.

Happy frugalling every one, the sun is shining, it's a beautiful day and that's free!

  • Oh, washing machines bust, repair man coming out this afternoon thankfully, but looks like it's going to be an expensive week.

Now, today I found out, from some-one who no longer works for my current company, that I have been replaced, some-one is starting later this month, infact the same person who did the job before me. But I am livid that I had to find out in this way. It's just typical of this company and one of the reasons I'm leaving, very poor poeple managment. I mean am I wrong, or would it not be good manners to keep me informed of whats going on?
I really really cba to do any work for these people now. I'll just sit here doing sweet naff all for the next 2 months, whats the worst they can do, sack me?! Rant over

    Helloooo

The washing machine was £63, better than a new one. It was full of coins which had broken a part - so avoidable. Cheeky man took all the coins with him too :rotfl:

DS is needing some extra work at the moment, so I've put him to good use around the house, getting ready for renting the house. Have cleared the lean to against the house out, and taken it down. I will put a small shed in it's place. The majority of the contents have gone to the skip. If I'd started sorting through it, I'd never have thrown anyting away 'just incase'. So I told DS to get rid of the lot, unless it was very obviously useful or valuble. (Although his idea of valuble or useful may be different to mine!)

  • DS said the washing machine mans coins were perks of the job!

This week I purchased some new boots. I saw them on a tall persons website for £90, then found them on amaz0n for £75 with free delivery. They arrived today, were gorgous and they fitted. Then I had a thought and checked ebay, and hey presto, there were a pair of nearly news ones, same size etc for £40 with free postage. So the amaz0n ones are going back, and I've got the boots I wanted at less than half the original price I saw them at :j

So technically I could have not bought them at all and been £40 up, but that would be boring!! Anyway it's in my clothing budget :A

That's all for today. I've got a candle party tomorrow so no doubt will be buying some overpriced tat for Chrimbo

  • Well done on the boots! That’s certainly a result! Do you use the Long Tall Sally website skinny?

Rather late and tardy reply! But yes it was LTS website I use, although my friend said ASOS also do tall clothes I must have a look.

I did buy an expensive candle and gave it to my daughters friend as a house warming gift :)

Thank you so much, and belated ones to you too! I went to bed early, it's become a theme for new year!!

Soooo, life has changed beyond all recognition. I have moved in with BF, and will be airbnbing my house once it's ready, I don't know if it'll work. but it's worth a go.

I've also started my new job, which is a bit of a shock having to get up at 6am after 3 months virtual garden leave.

I haven't made huge in roads into the CC or the mortgage, but quietly chipping away and certainly not going backwards. I did have all the money and more to pay off the CC (once again!!) but I lent DD some money for a car, and will be spending the rest of the money on the house to get ready for letting. All in a good cause and of course tax deductable!

In my new job I get paid every 4 weeks, which seems a bit awkward, does anyone have any tips for managing this? I'm used to pay going in day 1 and everything going out day 2, I suppose I'll need to keep a bit of a buffer, but on the plus side there will be an extra payday each year. :T

Singature updated and I've dropped below the £120K mark.

I hope everyone else it doing well, I'm trying to catch up with all your diaries, i just don't seem to have any time any more!!

When I was paid fortnightly, I would have my pay deposited into my savings account rather than my current account. Then on regular intervals I would move money over to the current account for the planned spending (I did it weekly, so one big transfer at the start of the month to cover mortgage/DDs, then much smaller ones the rest of the month for groceries/fun money/petrol/etc).

It does require having a buffer so that you can potentially cover the small week + the big week on one paycheck (if it arrives at an awkward time).

Hope that helps. Good luck with everything else, it all sounds positive!
