So it's the weekend woohoo! I'm having a very frugal month. My last pay day will be in November and it'll only be half a month, so I need to cut back where ever I can. I've stopped drinking for October, haven't really missed it and my purse feels much better. Why do we drink really??!
I'm going to a beer festival with friends tonight...and not drinking!! It'll be a very very cheap night.
This time next month I'll be half way through my adventure tour in Vietnam, and I've got some serious thinking to do about my next steps.
The airbnb ticks along fine, 74% occupied in October and covering the mortgage and all the bills with a little left over. I've had some contractors working locally who have booked some of the week days, which is a great balance to the normally fully booked weekends.
Went to Aldi today, a nice big shop for £44. OH wanted some half tins of baked beans, but they were twice the price of full tins, so he can have them instead.
Off for coffee in my friends canal boat, and to take some photos. I don't think I mentioned I'm doing a photography course, it was through the council, adult education. £34 for 4 weeks, I'm starting to understand about shutter speed and aperture and all that now, but we have to do lots of practice. x

That's interesting, there must be loads of contractors doing the same, I wonder how I can find more of them!

Ummm, find out what sites they work on or what agency they work through? My Dad often gets booked quite far from home as at 66yrs old he's got skills and experience a lot of other candidates don't have, and is able to do the erratic hours with no kids at home etc.

I do wonder why I continually self sabotage my life.
I finish work in just over 1 week, and have no job to go to.
I moved in with what I thought was the man of my dreams, and it turns out he's a bit of a control freak and unable to commit emotionally, how didn't I see that coming???
I don't see my DD any more because I can no longer cope with her behaviour.
I've just turned 50 and I've no idea what I'm going to do with my life, I feel completely derailed.
Finances are ok, for now at least

Oh dear hugs from me sounds like you need to do some thinking and work out what you want to do. Quitting a job before a new one isn't great but what is the chances of the other one happening? If it's 0 and you haven't applied for anything maybe ask your current employers if you can stay on. Maybe go part time gives you time to look elsewhere if they would allow it. If they don't obviously look for work but maybe think is there anything else I would like to try and other type of job. Maybe photography sounds like the course is worthwhile and also you have your big trip coming up.

As for the failed relationship we all make mistakes and because you're kind of at a crossroads you probably feel worse about it.

Relationship with your daughter I'm no expert but sounds like time out of working for you for now who is the say it will stay like that forever.

Hope you don't mind my comments read your diary but more of a lurker usually. Been through a lot of changes myself in the last three years and I'm far more go with the flow now which I never was before. Not a bad thing I don't think.

Hope you get some time to do some thinking and get back on track so to speak. Hugs

Thank you, hugs are good right now. I can't stay on with my current employer, I'd rather go bankrupt. My last salary will last 3 months if I'm careful, I've been paying into a share option which I can cash in which will see me through another 2 months, if the worst comes to the worst I have enough in my business account to take a dividend from that'll last another couple of months. (I don't talk about that on here much, a little ecommerce business that has done OK this year).
My house has enough Airbnb bookings to pay all the bills until the end of January.
However I'm certain I won't be without a job that long.
The holidays is paid for and I have spending money in the bank, which I'll transfer to my Halifax clarity card before I leave to avoid exchange fees etc.
I'm at home this week, caught a rotten cold, and I'm sure not going into work to a job I hate, with people who don't care, feeling ill, So I've called in sick.
Yesterday I went to see a life coach, she was recommended by a friend. I need to get myself back on track, and I need to get this mortgage paid down. So this is my plan so far
Spend time and care on my self
    Find a job
Work on our relationship, we have agreed to try again, doing things differently and talking a lot. We never really talked before, not about important things, but once we actually made our selves do it, we had loads to say, and probably learned more about each other in a couple of hours than we'd ever known before.
My plan B is to move in with a friend, who has a house big enough for me and DS, and she works away during the week anyway. I would aim to keep my outgoings as low as possible so I could crack the mortgage.
Frugal things I will do today
Return 2 Amazon purchases that weren't suitable
Make a list of whats in the freezer
Not frugal but important is printing out my evisa and travel insurance docs for vietnam. I'm going round to a friends later to borrow her rucksack, then I can start packing, getting quite excited now.
When I get back, I promise I will start my mortgage journey!! :o

Oh poor you skinny! You have had a rough time of it lately. But your last post sounds much more positive than the one before and you appear very much under control.

Hugs from me as well and hope things continue to improve with your OH and that you and DD manage to sort things out.
