Happy New Year for tomorrow and 2019 to all. Here's to 2019 being a better year!
I've started my new job, and I really think I'm going to like it a lot, I just can't wait to finish the training in January and get started properly. I am moving back to my own house next weekend, but just for a few months, I'm hoping to buy a little flat for myself & DS and continue to Airbnb my old home. OK so this is going to mean nearly doubling my mortgage commitment, but it makes sense in the long term to have 2 properties bought and paid for by the time I retire rather than 1. It does mean I need to raise a 10% deposit rather quickly, which is my current mission!Pay off Car Loan £17,047 £10580 by Christmas 2022

Well, here's me back posting. Finances are very top of my list right now.
I put an offer in on the flat and it was accepted, I have some of the deposit but not all, so I have until completion to get very financially creative and magic up £15,000. 3 friends have offered to lend me it, which is very humbling that at least 3 people trust me with that much money! But I'd rather not borrow off friends.
I'm currently just getting conveyancing quotes, looks like I'll have to pay the full 3% stamp duty too. It'll be a tricky year, but I'll be better off for it in the long run.
It's now 2 months since I split with x. I was heart broken and I've done a lot of soul searching. The word narcissist arrived in front of me, and when I started to read about it, yes, it was like a light bulb going on. Full of charm and love bombs until you're in over your head. Followed by a systematic assault on your character. It was all very subtle, where you start to doubt your own beliefs, values and even sanity.
However I'm now out the other side and can see it for what it was, it was something that happened to me, and not my fault. I have come out of it wiser, more cautious (is a good thing!) and with a more robust retirement plan with my Airbnb home!!
Today I've been going through my bank accounts, making sure all addresses are changed and any non essential direct debits are curtailed, it's amazing what slips by when you take your eye off the ball!Pay off Car Loan £17,047 £10580 by Christmas 2022

Hi skinny - well done for removing yourself from such a toxic relationship. I can commiserate completely as I went through the same thing some years ago. When I finished the relationship a good friend told me that when I was with the ex it was like an alien had taken over my body!
You've got a good plan going and best of luck with raising the rest of the deposit.
