There is a big petition going round about women paying more than men. That is why the debate in parliament. There is also a campaign to stop it as it is on hundreds of things.
Aah - I'm obviously way behind the times as usual! I had no idea till my personal experience of it. I used to get the petitions from Change.org and 38 Degrees via email but unsubscribed in a bid to minimise my inbox so must have missed that one.
CandyGirl - I'm not that lucky with YS either, it's usually only about 10p off when I look! Think you have to go late at night, but I'm in my jamas by about 7pm so no chance of that! My mum nips to her coop about 7.30pm and often gets good reductions.
I have had an NBI day today as have worked from home so not near any shops. Nearly went home via coop on way from dropping kids off at their youth club this pm but it is really rainy and windy and couldn't be bothered so came straight home. Boring old spag with cheese for tea though as a result (can't be bothered to cook either as still have cold/virus thing)0 -
I think it was on Change.org was not too sure which it was but 38 degrees seem to be concentrating on the NHS at the moment. I would sign up again with them both.
I just delete the stuff they send I don't agree with.
I just hope this time they don't just bring men's prices up to Women's, like they brought women's prices up to men's on car insurance.
My chicken bargains were in the market not a SM. You just have to go just before they close when they are selling stuff off. We have quite a big meat and fish department but most do not have much fridge space. Saturday is a good day as they wont be open again until Tuesday. If you have a good food market it is well worth going around 4pm.0 -
evening all
Belated birthday wishes Jackie O
Welcome aboard newbies.
Yesterday I planted my first seeds of the year.
Today was work and now I am too tired to bother with anything else so a bit of pottering and then to sew.
May have to buy petrol tomorrow - first spend since Wednesday.0 -
butterfly2507 isn't it great when you get a little bonus of 'road-kill' i.e. cash found on the road I have a tin in the kitchen that I put odd coins in and every year we use it on holiday for my DGS ice-creams The boys also join in and often when they come home from school I come home with 5ps and coppers that they have found.one year I had almost £80 odd in the tin.One of my DGS Henry has hawkeyes and is always looking out for pennies for the holiday tin

Evening shipmates!
A low spend day today - £1.20 bus fare (OH gave me a lift home), and £3 in P0undland on some snacks for work (always like to keep some snacks in work in case I get peckish - so much cheaper than going to the canteen or using the vending machine).
Have done al my chores so I am settling down to an evening of patchwork and Midsomer Murders. I know how to live!
Have a good evening all.0 -
I haven't spent any money since Friday and even that was only a couple of quid on groceries. Very pleased with myself! The rubbish weather has helped, I must admit... I haven't used the car since Friday either
Hope everyone is well. The sun is shining here today, although it's still cold, but I have to work. Oh well, I don't spend when I'm in work so all good.Never say never0 -

I’m clinging on to a life boat tonight!
Had a lovely night out with some friends at an all you can eat buffet last night, not something we often do so had a good natter and tried lots of different and tasty things. One of the dishes, chicken in oyster sauce, was so good it could have been served on an a la carte menu.
Then tonight, I came incredibly close to a takeaway, even though I didn’t have to cook or wash up last night and in spite of a full freezer and cupboards. And I’ve just been perusing websites thinking of Easter gifts for my niece and newborn gifts for my soon to arrive niece/ nephew, not due until way after Easter! And that’s even with a haircut booked for Saturday too, which will obviously need to be paid for. (No apologies for the haircut, its an indulgence I thoroughly enjoy every 8 weeks.)
Thankfully, I’ve managed to hold on. Dug something quick and easy out of the freezer and inspired by the last few pages on this thread (and not wanting to report my failure!) have closed down the tempting web pages without ordering anything.
I’m getting the hang of the lingo on the thread now… when I first saw someone reporting “shore leave”, I thought they worked in the navy or for a cruise line. :rotfl:August 2016 GC £249.70/£150

I went shopping today, and thoroughly enjoyed it. I have been stuck in the house for three days with a sick daughter, and a 7yr old dd who is bored. Not easy. Today, when dh came in, I went to the shop where we bought the girls' wardrobe to order a new part for a drawer that broke. It turns out to be free; wonderful service! In that shop I also bought a joyful plastic tablecloth, and a sofa cushion, both 50% off + 10% off through a membership card (similar to WI). Then went to the shop next to it and bought a thermos for dh. It contains half a litre and has a wide mouth, so good for soups, pasta dishes, etc for his lunch. It was 20 euros, quite expensive, but if he takes it 5 times, we'll break even. Then, I went to A.ldi to buy a year's supply of dry grated cheese (parmezan or a good knock-off/mix). Then, I went to the library to pick up the next book in the Sister Fidelma series, free through interlibrary loan. And I used dh's company car to drive everywhere
It took two hours, and my batteries are recharged.Are you wombling, too, in '22? € 58,96 = £ 52.09Wombling in Restrictive Times (2021) € 2.138,82 = £ 1,813.15Wombabeluba 2020! € 453,22 = £ 403.842019's wi-wa-wombles € 2.244,20 = £ 1,909.46Wombling to wealth 2018 € 972,97 = £ 879.54Still a womble 2017 #25 € 7.116,68 = £ 6,309.50Wombling Free 2016 #2 € 3.484,31 = £ 3,104.590 -

Well done happytravelling. Getting the balance between being frugal and having a few treats can be a challenge for a lot of us. Looks like you are aware of your spending choices.
I'm happy with my efforts to use food up from the cupboards and freezer. I have managed a spend of less than ten pounds on food this week buying fresh fruit and veg and bread and milk etc. I feel a lot more in control now that I have an inventory and can now meal plan with a lot more ease.
