Hi everyone, count me in too I would love to join you all.
My aims are
1. food shopping only once a week and NO top up shops ! This is my downfall - stern talk to self - if I pop to the shop for milk I will only take enough cash for milk and leave my purse and cards at home
2. no takeaways - I will meal plan and make my own
3. no buying chocolate or biscuits - I am diabetic and must not eat them
Must grow a backbone and get some willpower

Ooooh New Thread! Just the incentive I need right now.
I am mainly a lurker on the boards but love reading all the ideas and amazing success stories.
So I'm definitely in!!!:TUse it up, Wear it out, Make it do, Do without.0 -
Hello, I'm a lurker too, but would love to join in please!
I'm hoping to buy a large item in two years time - a new house! - so anything else I can not buy in the meantime would be great to help me save as much as possible towards it.
We started at our New Year party last night, we had a few friends and kids round and each agreed to provide some food and drink. I made home made cakes with stuff from stores, which went down very well, and provided drink we had been bought for Christmas, so we had a very fab party at no extra cost.
Need to check fridge and freezer today to see what we have leftover and come up with a meal plan to use it up. I've already made a big batch of turkey soup with leftovers so have lots of portions frozen for when I go back to work next week.
Have a great NBI 2016 everybody.0 -
I'ld like to join you please.one off my goals this year is to not buy any unnecessary stuff Inc. Perfume, wax, toiletries etc. I could really do with extending this to other sectors too0

I've pulled everything out of the fridge/bread bin that needs eating up for lunch. I've deleted all the sale emails without opening them. We did purchase a steamer to replace our broken one, we use it a lot so this was a necessary purchase.
Off for a walk soon and then eating up yesterday's casserole for tea along with some garlic bread which also needs eating up.
Looking forward to sailing through the year with you.

Joining you from 2015, we have two large spends this year, a mattress and a car, already accounted for though.
I have explained my thoughts on the NBI to hubby and children and they all appear to be on board. We have been decluttering and making money on Ebay on things we never thought would sell, the stuff that doesn't go after a month is donated to the charity shop.
My Grocery Challenge begins today until 31st. Meal planning, both for dinners and packed lunches will be done today before school goes back.
Happy New Year to you all, now I shall get back to my Ebaying before we have a lovely family tea tonight (trying Aldi's 4 bird roast..bought before Christmas!)January 2024 Grocery Challenge - January 2024 (£65.08/ £150) / Yearly (£65.08 / £3000 (£250/month) )
Mortgage free since 2013! One of our best decisions was to pay the mortgage off early!0 -
Happy New Year to all. Haven't been on here for a while and lurk more than I post but will try harder this yearPeople Say that life's the thing - but I prefer reading

Count me in again. Even though I stopped posting on the last thread, I always popped in for a catch up
What I really loved reading were the posts from those who have stopped the gifting at Christmas , well done
We stopped gifting for anyone other then the grand kids years ago. We still give the kids something they need towards the home and we are very generous with the grand kids, but even then I'm a smart shopper
Hubby and I only give token gifts, just something to open after dinner
Even mum got the message this year and didn't spend silly amounts on things we don't want or need
I think once the message finally gets across to loved ones, they finally breath a sigh of relief that they too can get off the merry go round as well
Anyways I need to cut my cloth even slimmer as I'm no longer working for a wage. We can still manage on one income, but luxury/frivolous expenditure has to stop
We have a wedding to pay for plus I need mother of the bride outfit. Seeing as I live in jeans and jumpers it's going to be expensive as I really have nothing I can make do with
Still we will get through somehow, we always do. I've a freezer full of ys bargains which will see us through this month and next which will give us time to recover from the car tax, electricity bill and an oil fill
On a brighter note, looks like the chooks are thinking about laying again after a long rest
Happy New Year everyone xxx0 -
Happy new year . I am going to join again this year. I have just spent the morning clearing out draws and shredding paper. Found that I was chucking a load of unused MOCs you know the ones spend £40 get £5 off.0

Happy New Year shipmates, I spent a lovely morning putting the tree and decorations away and sorting my wardrobe out, I really dont think I will need to buy any clothes this year other than some winter boots next autumn and I'm loving the uncluttered living room.
My January goals are taking a packed lunch every day, I already meal plan for the family dinners but don't always for lunches which is crazy.
I also have a couple of holidays to save for, one is a visit to see my DD, so this is my motivation. Last year was expensive doing the house up (new boiler and patio), but other than the kitchen needing a lick of paint, which I already have in the garage nothing else should need doing.
I also checked my emails and had 97 which were about sales or offers....I took great pleasure unsubscribing and deleting them.Well Behaved women seldom make history
