Oh bless you Indie........how difficult for you all.
I can relate a little ........my mum was happy enough in her own way but she took no responsibility for herself. She was very passive and allowed herself to become something of a doormat. It used to make me very angry.
I got so frustrated when she wouldn't help herself - not even with her diabetes. She wouldn't modify her eating habits or exercise and she paid a terrible price in the end. Same with dad.......his behaviour was monstrous at times and yet she just took it. It was as if she didn't think that she deserved anything better.
On the odd occasion she did remonstrate with him he would mend his ways. I think she just couldn't be bothered with it all and she just gave up.
It still makes my blood boil when I think about it all so I try not to dwell on it. It was her life, her choices but I do think "what a waste of a life".
When I heard that you had walked away from your relationship I felt so relieved for you because I could see a few red flags. I'm so glad you didn't allow yourself to be sucked in to a destructive relationship.
I can appreciate it was hard for you but you have shown great courage and presence of mind. Go and enjoy your holiday, have fun and then come back and rebuild your life again.
The sun has now come out. Time to get out and about.0 -
Just wanted to send massive amounts of respect to both of you, *LL* and *Indie*.
You both come across as so strong and enthusiastic for life and all it had to offer, and it seems that you could have both quite easily retreated a bit and not achieved all that you have x
Just having a quick tea break before finding another chore to get on with!0 -
It seems we have fab strong women on here, on the subject of men, Mr Coppers has said he thinks I'm having a mid life crisis ( & only men are meant to have them not women) because & doing the pampering ect, going to sw & buying fashion magazines, he was smiling when he said it, maybes because I was laughing at him.
Have a great holiday Indie0 -
Maybe Mr Coppers is secretly dead chuffed to see you putting yourself first .....
Maybe he likes having a new glamourous wife.;)
Well that's all the beige banished from my wardrobe.:D All bagged up and in the boot of the car before I'm tempted to relent.
I swept through my bedroom like a dose of salts and kondoed two black bin liners full of stuff, some clothes, photo frames, a few Ornaments. Where does all this "stuff" come from.......I've still got loads......
I will do my toiletries, meds and make up next week.0 -

Plenty of ironing round here if you're stuck for something to do!:rotfl:, Mr Coppers has said he thinks I'm having a mid life crisis ( & only men are meant to have them not women)
Maybe he thinks you're having an affair! That's meant to be a classic sign when men have a mid life crisis.;)
Good conversation on here today. I think we can safely say that none of us are going to end up as cauliflower heads!:D I was going to say that it's a generational thing but I know that sadly it's not true. I know a number of young women who don't have equal relationships with partners. I find that very sad.
I've joined in Fab Friday. I had an early meeting so got myself fabbed up in a purple jersey shift dress with black opaques and black suede heels and then a black cropped cardi as I didn't want to look too formal. It's been a fantastic day here about 11 degrees and really sunny. It was a joy doing my make up this morning with good, natural light.
Did my meal plan and food shop this afternoon and had a bit of a browse in the clothes in Sainsbury's. I didn't want to buy anything just see what sort of styles and colours are around for Spring. They had boyfriend jeans which I think are meant to be replacing skinnies. I'm not sure if I'm ready for those, need to try a pair on. I'll try and get into the city centre this week and browse there too.
It's my birthday tomorrow and I've booked myself a hair appointment. It's just for a small trim and a blow dry. This new stylist has cut my hair much sharper than I used to have it so I want to keep the shape and I know it would be a mess by Easter so I might as well look my best tomorrow. Nothing very special planned but we'll go out to eat in the evening. We have a day out planned for Wednesday as we're off to see Adele at the O2 so we'll make a day of it.
Hope everyone's enjoying their day too. Have a good holiday indie.

Happy birthday for tomorrow maman. From your post, your plans for tomorrow are exactly how birthdays should be spend, in my opinion.
I had a casual day today as I had quite a bit of running around to do. I did manage some perfume, blusher and lipstick, though.0 -
Happy birthday for tomorrow Maman0

Happy Birthday Maman:bdaycake:
Hope you a lovely day.
The sun is shining and I think it might even be warm enough to get out into the garden later. :T
Has Spring finally sprung.!!!
Will do a bit more Kondoing later........0 -
Maman - Happy Birthday from me too, have a great day.
Sunny here too, and warmer than it has been recently, which is great for a cold soul like me:D
Have a good weekend fellow fabbers.
Yesterday I met up with my best friend, I took her a lovely cashmere scarf and some nail polishes and a couple of skincare products, she was delighted. I was simply over the moon when she gave me her red woolen duffle coat, which sadly she has grown out of:( She had mentioned she might take it to the CS shop where she volunteers so I asked if I could try it if she decided not to keep it, she had thought it might be too big for me, but it fits and look great on me. I feel like I have won the lottery:D:DThe best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0
