elsbell and maddie I hope you are feeling better now that you've had some rest. Now is the season for all those bugs!!!
I forgot to mention some good news - DS has been discharged from the hospital. He is long sighted (poor close vision) and he had a really high prescription. Due to his age, he has been under the care of the hospital, for them to monitor how his eyes are developing. Other than being really long sighted, his vision is otherwise good and so the hospital are discharging him back to the care of the optician. I am so thankful for the NHS.0 -
Good morning ladies,
Another sleepless night and Stephan King is scaring me, so here I am, hey ho :rotfl:
Ells and Maddie I hope you are feeling better?
Ells, I started to use a BB cream last winter and was amazed at the coverage.I stopped wearing foundation many years ago, it was very heavy in those days and my skin suffered.I only use the BB cream if I am going somewhere that requires full war paint
Welcome Squishy, this great thread is on the Solstice's loopsomeone is always here, enjoy.
Twinnie, sorry about the bungalow and town houseyour 'new' home is out there just waiting for you.
Maman, good result today
Sugar and chanie :hello::hello:
I hope you all have a good Monday.

Hope you managed to get some sleep eventually Carmen. I really don't think reading Stephen King was a good idea:eek:.
Good news about your DS chanie and lovely to see you posting Maddie.:)
Hope you're feeling a bit better ellsbel. I've yet to buy a BB cream but I was impressed with the Clarins one on my first visit. I expect it's very expensive to experiment with though so maybe others could recommend a cheaper brand. My favourite mascara is Benefit They're Real. Unfortunately it's a bu**er to take off though and also expensive. In the past I've been perfectly happy with Maybelline. I really would recommend asking for demonstrations at beauty counters before you buy if you live near enough to big stores.
I'm going to put a ban on myself buying any more products until I've used up what I've got. I'll replace anything I absolutely run out of but otherwise no more spending. I'm going to have a sort out of the bathroom cupboards too as I think I'm losing track of which toiletries I have.
I'm feeling very unfab this morning. I've had my shower and creamed myself but not washed my hair so it feels yuk! I've got a hair appointment later for cut, blow dry and highlights and my hair really doesn't benefit from too much washing so I've left it. I'll take my stylist's advice but I think maybe a half head to do the roots and put some caramel colours in might be enough as there's plenty of white blonde in the ends from the summer sun.
It's still 16 degrees with some sunshine here so jeans and my red Reiss long sleeved top will be fine for the hairdressers. Dancing tonight and I think it's still not wintry enough for woollen skirts. I have a dark green, heavy cotton White Stuff skirt that might be OK. It's my reluctance to wear thick tights and dislike of thin ones that's a dilemma.
Hope everyone has a good day.:)0 -
Hello Ladies,
I went for a night of dancing in the pub last night and was so disappointed. The DJ was not terrible, but there was hardly anyone in the pub, so I ended up talking to Wayne and that just made me feel irritated and in the end , I was so bored, I went home very early.Wayne did buy my drinks, so I actually had a completely free night out.
I wore a black pull on skirt, my red vest top with very wide straps and a column of large button decoration on the front of the top. I wore my black Kaleidoscope cardigan with the satin rose and my black patent leather Van Dal sling back shoes. I was carrying my Osprey red patent leather handbag. I wore solid gold earrings, chain and cross, bracelet, Diamonique solitaire ring and a Diamonique eternity ring. No make up, but I layered my perfume with body lotion and body powder.
I had my first G5 Anti cellulite massage today on my thighs. It was via a machine and it was quite a weird feeling of pressure being applied to my thighs, but I hope it did them some good.I did find it relaxing even though I was not expecting the machine. I am looking forward to my 2nd one on Friday and my 3rd one next Monday. I thought it was best to book them while I am not working.

Sugar I've heard good things about the G5 treatment, let us know how you get on with it. Was it a Groupon deal (I know you make the most of them!!!).
I was on a training course today and took detour back to work, via some local shops. My course was in the City and it was quite nice to be amongst the hustle and bustle of the corporate world, as my organisation is more casual.
I tested some perfume and put on some lip gloss, so I came back to work smelling nice. I got to try on a couple of items that I've been eyeing up online and there's one item im interested in.0 -
Strange why the pub was so empty on Sunday sugar. Maybe people are watching the pennies.
The stylist made an excellent job of my hair yesterday and I got compliments when I went dancing last night. The cut is good but having the caramel bits in the highlights makes it look much more natural. It had a decidedly bleachy look after the summer.
I did the promised MK in the bathroom cupboard and it looks much better. It was built specially into a corner, narrow and tall with just enough room for a basket on each shelf. 6 shelves altogether. First aid and cleaning materials on two of them and the rest for me:D. I've sorted them into one for nail things, one for hair and teeth stuff, one for skincare and brushes and the last for make up. Now I need to use them more often. I don't have excessive amounts but I am aware that I have a number of lip colours that I rarely use, too easy to just go for my old favourite.
I love the buzz of the City too chanie. It's about my only regret in life that I didn't either study or work in London. I had three aunts living there when I was a child so I visited quite often. Now I'm barely an hour away though so I visit as often as I can especially when they do offers on the trains:money:.0 -
Good evening ladies,
Ells, I forgot to mention the BB creams is Garnier Skin Naturals.
I chose this brand because of the good reviews, I was too busy to go and ask advice and it was on offer at the time.Having said that, I feel I would benefit from a darker shade for the Winter.I would use the lighter shade in the Spring, before I get my Summer glow
Sugar, sorry your dance evening did not go well, always nicer to have someone to dance with....unless like me only dance when I've had a drink :dance:
How does the G5 treatment work, are pads applied to the area's?
Chanie, good to hear your DS is on the mend
Maman, how did your highlights turn out, are you happy with them?
Another glorious day again, but the temp is starting to drop now.

It's about my only regret in life that I didn't either study or work in London.
It's funny you think that, maman As a Londoner born and bred, I don't see living in London as anything to envy. Don't get me wrong, I love having London on my door step and its where my roots are, but there is so much I dislike:
Commuting to London everyday is stressful and I have to squeeze myself onto train where I can hardly breathe.
House prices.
Living in such a highly densely populated area.
It can be lonely - the population is so transient that it can be difficult to meet people and people often keep to themselves.
The mess and pollution. Even those super mansions look grotty.0 -
Hi ladies:)
I feel a bit of a fraud for posting when I'm feeling and looking so unfab but I'm currently sat in the car in a car park waiting for DS2 who's having an interview for a weekend job, so I thought I'd pop in and say hello.
Welcome squishy - join in anytime:)
Maddie I too love to read and support everyone on here - it's why I like the thread so much; we're all genuinely interested in each other. The bakes sound great:)
Chanie, great news about DS:) you must be so relieved.
Carmen and Maman thanks for your thoughts on the BB cream and mascara. I haven't worn any makeup at all this week to be honest as I feel so grotty, but I've got to pop into town tomorrow so I'm going to pick up the garnier cream and either a maybelline or a bourjois mascara.
Sugar I hope you get to have a good dance this weekend to make up for Sunday's disappointing evening.
Hope you're all well.0 -
Hello Ladies,
I went to a Portuguese restaurant yesterday for lunch with my daughter. It was our 1st visit to a Portuguese restaurant and we really enjoyed our lunch even though I found my chorizo sausage starter under cooked so I did not eat it. My daughter also found hers under cooked and left most of hers on the plate as well. It was grilled and then flambe at the table, so it looked well done. In this instance, the attractive appearance was deceptive. It was a Groupon deal so extremely good value. The white wine I had and the rose wine my daughter had was really good and we actually got a full sized glass of wine. We both had a Mediterranean skewer, fries and a lovely fresh mixed salad. My daughter gave me £5 to tip the waiter with.
Chanie yes my set of 3 G5 massages is a Groupon deal.
Maman the pub was almost empty on Sunday because the Landlord and Landlady of the pub have now cancelled Karaoke on the middle weeks in every month. Karaoke is now only on the 1st and the last Sunday in a month. They are going to live to regret that decision very soon.
Carmen, G5 is a machine with replaceable heads. The heads are plastic nodules of different sizes, which are supposed to help break down the cellulite.
Ellsbel I will get to dance and sing on Sunday as it is a Karaoke night.
I went Karaoke last night which is held in a Caribbean restaurant and I sang 5 songs and had a fun night out. People were very pleased to see me, as I had not been for a while.0
