Well said Soolin. EBay have so many glitches that are resulting in sellers defects and don't want to know when you raise any issues.

Like you I am coming to the conclusion that you can't win and excellent customer service can't stop the defects (especially the late delivery one)

Hold the front page! I went back to ebay about my neutral as I had originally phoned them when it all happened in November and was told I should be fine if I just offered a refund on return. I then assumed that since I heard nothing else until I got the neutral today, that the buyer had realised how foolish they were being and had decided to just leave it.

So I got a different CS rep, explained that buyer bought a (for instance) WH smith notepad , branded WH Smith showing WH Smith in photo and item descriptions and item specifics and had refused to return it even when I offered return postage. This time within 30 seconds of my explaining the problem and confirming all the half dozen or so emails went through the ebay system- she removed the feedback. CS did mention though that as buyer had deliberately waited 6 weeks or so since threatening a neg and had refused to return item that helped with the decision to remove as it showed it was malicious.

Still worried about the issue of lates though as how can we tell how we are doing when it is not real time and hasn't updated since 31stDec.

As far as I'm concerned now ebay do not reward good sellers, they blatantly allow false and malicious feedback to be left as well as laughably poor feedback which I can prove is untrue.

I'm surprised this is news to you.

Ebay has been like this for years, a classic example is when item tracking shows a item has been delivered within the timeframe, and you get 1 star for dispatch. That must bave been going on for years, and is has only been addressed in the last couple of months with 'objective' measures.

Ebay has always been about 'buyer opinion' and while you may get the odd feedback removed, it's never worth the multiple contact attempts and going round the bushes. You time should be more valuable then that.

I disagree. If I had accepted every unfair defect I would have lost my TRS long ago. It is a pain having to keep fighting with EBay, but you accept defects at your peril.

It all depends on the seller. Some sellers seem dead set on having zero defects, and it seems to cause them a massive amount of stress constantly arguing with CS to get them removed.

I've never had 0%, but I've never been above 1% either - I've got the odd one reduced when it's beeen obvious but I'd much rather do something more productive that run to ebay everytime someone leaves me a black mark

(Nothing directed towards Soolin directly, more based towards comments from the powerseller forum)

I haven't looked at eBay's own forum for many years. is it worth the effort or are they over "moderated" ??

Think I have another neutral / neg looming. Buyer bought something and it was sent second class Monday with an expected delivery Thursday / Friday. Get a message this morning saying where is it as she needs it on Tuesday Why tell me today ? if she had let me know on Friday she would definitely have got a replacement in time.

Will send another by first class on Monday but it may not get there on time.

I'm no longer replacing lost items, if ebay wish us to downgrade services to disadvantage the buyers then so be it- for me protecting my account takes precedent. Opening an INR case will no longer disadvantage us from February under the new rules so that's what I tell them to do.

As for the discussion about protecting ourselves- I am trying to retain my TRS so concentrate more on the bits that will count come Feb. The reason I was upset with the neg and the neutral and the two false positives is that they say something about my service or goods that might be detrimental to future sales. The neg for instance states I never sent goods and that they could not get a refund through ebay- that implies I am no compliant with business regs , which I am. The neutral told a lie about my goods (luckily now removed) and the two positives mentioned not sending goods for several days and goods not being as per the description (both were wrong).
