Good luck on your new diary.

Just had a thought - could you rent out some of your veg garden to someone looking to grow their own, as a way to make extra money?
  • Good luck with it all Steph. With all the debt busting dont undervalue all that you do in your home and on the small holding.
  • Happy new diary Steph! I've subscribed xx

  • Hello Steph XXXXX

    1. Can you temp? through an agency?

    2. Like the veg plot renting idea.

    3. baby sitting service? as in sign up to an agency (CRB check neccessary - also good for any school related job)

    4. Not any school your kids go to but is there a place you could work like a library? Nursery? school? (thinking shorter/part time hours)

    5. Finally my best friend works for a large supermarket. She doesn't love it but it pays ok and is flexible to a point.

    6. Offering cleaning - like you were doing?
    Nevertheless she persisted.

Subscribed too. Fingers crossed 2016 is the year for you.

The job thing is hard - I know you can make some lovely things but often when you cost time as well actually the level of return isn't great. However you have some great skills, the beauty treatments and I think you were talking about trying to become a podiatrist too.

Think Buffy has a point though, if there was a large store near enough to you part time regular hours would give you an income whereas self employment is less consistent. Good luck with whatever you decide to try

Thanks so much for you all finding my new diary and giving me lots to think about.

I will look into contact some temping agencies and see what options are open to me. I used to work at Sainsbobs in the evenings years ago, but they were never overly flexible with dropping shifts etc but times may have changed. Slight annoyance that the nearest large supermarket is 10 miles away but worth exploring.

My B&B cleaning job will start again once their bookings heat up in the spring, that was about £25-£30 per week. Doesn't solve many problems but its a start.

I looked into Podiatry but it involves 3 years at a far away uni so just not feasible with young children.

I could potentially look at renting out some of the veg plot although think that would be only for a tiny amount.

Would love to be able to make something that made me money but I am the same as a million other people out there and with less talent.

I have spent the WHOLE day setting out my new YNAB budget, fine tuning and have managed to log onto my 6....Yes 6 credit card accounts. I have just done a successful balance transfer from my Virgin card to my Barclaycard.
This is fab news as Virgin were getting very snippy about the amount of my payments and were threatening a default on my credit file. So I feel very relieved about that.

That's the update so far. I have some of my craft makes that I am going to try and sell on Ebay & Etsy as a tester to see if they sell. Fingers Crossed. xxx
  • Just finished reading your previous thread and subscribed to the new thread with great interest.

I have just started using YNAB and so far loving it, what were the changes you mentioned where coming today? I literately got it yesterday. Don't think I'll bother with getting nYNAB I don't fancy paying a monthly/yearly fee.
