Forgot to mention earlier that dd7 and I went through her half of the wardrobe and took out the items she assured me she would never ever wear. We took out about half, and there are still plenty left. She is a skirts and dresses girl, and wanted to keep just the one pair of jeans. I insisted she kerp two more pairs that make me feel joyful when I look at her when she is wearing them :)

  • I've had a V-shaped pillow for years, my sister had one when nursing her first baby and we discovered how great they are for reading in bed. I couldn't manage without it now, as I read every night before I go to sleep.

I bought a memory foam pillow but it's too firm and I can't sleep on it. I'm still searching for the ultimate pillow.

Been reading along but no time to contribute (RL!).

But I had to relate my pillow event this week.... I came home from work to find DH had placed a pillow on the kitchen table. Questioning revealed that he was preparing to release it because it was very old and stained and a while ago I bought him a tempur one. Tempur one is absolutely the best I have ever had. I could not believe I spent that much on a pillow but as said above, what price a good nights' sleep?! I confess that I take my pillow away with me.

Anyway, back to the issue..... DH explained that he would dispose of old pillow but added that he was going to buy 'a spare one'. I nearly wet myself, hysterically asking him what sort of pillow emergency he thought this 2 person household might have, bearing in mind there's a 24hr supermarket less than 5 miles away. Even he laughed, just after he rushed for a mop n bucket! I think he got the message
though. As GQ said, no spare pillows needed.

Good luck with the hunt, everyone who is seeking ultimate comfort. If you sleep on your side, get a thicker one so your head is still correctly aligned even though your shoulder is boosting the appropriate gap twixt bed and ear. People who sleep on their backs probably need a slightly less thick pillow. I like fairly firm (but a soft bed!), but definitely not solid (sorry MK, couldn't dotraditional Japanese neck rest!).

Planning to re-tackle clothing at the weekend, wish me luck!

I also once dismantled a defunct stainless steel kettle of Mum's be removing the element and busting off the plastic handle, so all which was left was the stainless steel bit, which I put in the metal recycling bit up at the HWRC. But then, I'm a bit bonkers............:rotfl:

    .

That will make of us then - I can dismantle/deconstruct most things into their component recyclable parts. I also tend to buy stuff in glass bottles/jars where I can as I was told glass is easier to recycle than plastic - dont know how true that is but it appeals to my inner recycle demon :)

Pillows: memory foam here, but am researching a change ATM

:) I'm now getting a touch excited about pillow-shopping, shame I have to go do a day's work first. JL have a bit on their website dividing pillows into suitability for those who sleep on their side (like me), front-sleepers and back-sleepers.

I'm going to spending my Xmas pressie money on the pillow. I hadn't found anything I wanted/ needed to buy and think it would be an excellent use of the cash. Good sleep is priceless, without it you feel miserable.

Going to the parents' place for the weekend. Most of Saturday (and in two-thirds) will be taken up with visiting my Nan, so Mum will be too tired after that to declutter, but I have made an achievable plan for a particular area of her sitting-room which is most defiantely a clutter hot-spot and impacting on quality of life, so will aim to tackle that on the Sunday. Might even get into some other areas, I'm like a terrier with a rabbit warren once I get going.:rotfl:

    Morning all.
I completely finished the ironing yesterday. All that is in the basket is a pile of coat hangers and a length of iron on hem turn up stuff (to repair as I go). My cunning plan is that once both the laundry basket and the ironing basket are both empty next week I will be able to release the spare coat hangers into the recycling bin at the local supermarket. I'm still tempted to replace mine with the huggable hanger that a both slimmer and look like the clothes stay on them.

Busy all day today so no real kondoing will be done. Reading the pillow convo I'm tempted to get mil a triangle/V pillow for Mother's Day, I used to love the one I had when the kids were babies (I got it for night feeds) and found it brill for sitting up reading in bed. Mil piles her chair with cushions and has them wedged in at all angles trying to get support in the right places so one of these might help her.

    Have a joyful day all.

:) I would defiantely recommend the V shaped pillow for your MIL, after she's used that, she'll never want to go back to the old way. They really are excellent ideas.

  • I'm off to research tempur pillows! Thanks for the tip MF007.

I don't know if I sleep on my back or my side, I think it changes during the night? A useful tip, I found that sleeping on my front gave me back pain. I trained myself not to sleep in that position by putting a pillow (ordinary one!) between my knees before going to sleep. Might be helpful to anyone else with this problem.

I have to ask a question thats burning at me! With those triangular pillows .... they look like they don't support your back at all? My dad had one when he was bed-bound, and my mum threw it out, he disliked it so much. What are we doing wrong? Its obviously really popular, there's a trick thats passed by my whole family :o
