Be worth it grey queen, just breathe in, and let them tackle it !
On a recycling note how do you decide which bin to use when items have more than one type of fabrication ? Yesterday we finished off a large tub of coffee the body is cardboard, the lid is plastic (easy to take off) but the top and bottom are metal!!!! Tried to cut off but impossible possibly gonna break my scissors, do I just stick it in general waste?

I tend to use my serrated bread knife to take the metal bottoms off those type of tubs but if there's a danger of cutting yourlf or wrecki r knife I'd just bin it.

Hope the work goes smoothly GQ.

Been quilt making again today so more scraps binned. All squares now made and 60/80 sashed and sewn together

    GQ enjoy tackling the Sparks

DH has just noticed the drawers I've KM, with everything neatly folded, and is giggling, saying that I've gone mad.

I've now managed to KM my dresses, bottoms, tops, underwear, shoes and bags. So other than my coats and my jewellery I've almost finished the clothing - well my clothing. And thankfully today is the first day that I'm starting to notice a difference :T
  • My usual cleaning friend came round today, my bedroom is an oasis of peace now! I'll be able to do little bits of kondo'ing and organising tomorrow as I can actually see things and not have to dig thru Stuff.

Wort - my local council takes things as general recycling and then sort it. If you have a general or everything collection it could go in there? I know every council is different though.

I'm always astonished by how much extra rubbish and recycling my flat mate produces, when they're away there's only about a quarter of the usual volume. I have permission to dust their room this week as we both have dust allergies, assuming I can find any surfaces ofc...

:D Loving all the rugby jokes, peeps, you're inspired.

wort, I have been known to dismantle some kinds of packaging to maximise the recycling potential. Mum has coffee in tubs such as you describe and we cut the metal base out of the cardboard body ( I use a serrated veg knife on the cardboard) and the plastic lid goes in separately.

Waste and recycling facilities get upgraded over time and what one council can't handle now, they may be able to handle in future. There should be a list of recyclables on their website or you could email 'em.

I also once dismantled a defunct stainless steel kettle of Mum's be removing the element and busting off the plastic handle, so all which was left was the stainless steel bit, which I put in the metal recycling bit up at the HWRC. But then, I'm a bit bonkers............:rotfl:

Have been a bit anxious about a neck problem which a chance convo with a friend made me realise is caused by elderly and flattened pillow. Got reserve pillow out of airing cupboard and realised is the same as this one I've been using. After work, will shop for a decent pillow and bin these knackered ones. Or, as they are feather, might look at composting the feather and laundering and textile recycling the casings.

Decided in future not to keep spares of things like pillows, haven't really got the space and they tend to die in storage.

A couple of years ago I bought my OH a pillow for his birthday. It may sound strange but it was hugely expensive - when I told the cashier why I was buying it (not randomly, she mentioned it was her favourite of the ones they sold) she said "you can't buy someone anything better than a good night's sleep".

Never a truer word spoken, I think.

Had w lovely surprise yesterday, I did my final final teaching session at old work. When I got back to my desk (I guess not mine any more) I found a card and present from a student. Some lovely words spoken and the present was a bottle of cherry vodka and posh chocolates. :T. Superb choice, nothing to keep, nothing to feel guilty about getting rid of and a thought to last forever...

I have kondoed another mouse from the attic, again, dead in the humane trap. The one we caught earlier in the spring trap was still alive, what do we do wrong?

I have put the rags in a new ragbag, as the mice had completely destroyed the old ragbag; it must have contained food at some point. Everytime I put my hand in the old bag, I was afraid of grabbing a handgul of mouse.

Just realised that due to all my clearing in the bathroom, there is space in one of the four drawers to put the stash that currently lives in a sturdy lidded blue plastic box underneath the drawers. We have the i.kea g.odmorgen stand, and it can contain sooooo much, I love it! All surfaces are clean, because all stuff fits in the drawers.

Edit: it is now 15 minutes later, and it is done! Mind is now racing with the possible uses for the blue lidded plastic box; 'attic' springs to mind a lot :)

I've stuffed old pillows down the back and sides of the hotwater tank in the past - extra free insulation..

GQ - you can always combine the feathers from two pillows into one, but that won't necessarily make it more supportive.

Personally I have 5 pillows on my bed (two of which spend the night on the floor unless I have a cold, but make reading in bed much more comfortable). I bought a new one recently which is microfibre and fabulously soft but still supportive. I store pillows on the beds rather than put away, but I have housewife pillowcases on the ones I sleep on and harder to iron ones on the ones that are more decorative - that way I know which are the well used ones.
