My house story
My solicitor found out that my house was not owned by the vendor but his deceased father so it took a long time to complete . The vendor was surprised I wanted him out on completion. He left the garage and loft full. It took him weeks to come back and we dumped the contents of the loft on the front garden in the end for him to collect. The place was grimey. There was lots of bodged diy. Wires were just pushed into a socket for the conservatory lights. The conservatory was Diy and when we demolished it a year later the glass window dropped to the floor alarmingly easily.
The funniest thing in the house was an arch to the walk in wardrobe complete with saloon doors. We have been here nearly 16 years.0 -

Afternoon all! No Kondoing for me, I haven't actually cracked open the book yet so that's probably why
I think I might book a day off work next week to finally get going, for some reason I can't get motivated on a weekend or evening but that is just laziness.
I can't believe the house horror stories, I have been 'enjoying' them. Not too many horrors for me here but there were a couple of things left behind in the loft. There was a fluorescent light unit thing and some roller blinds, luckily the loft hatch is near the landing window so things came down the hatch and straight out the window! Also up there were a few rolls of carpet which came out when I had the roof done, god knows how they got them up there in the first place. To round things off there was an unused water tank that had to be cut up to get through the hatch, how did that get in there  I don't have any of my own stuff up there now, it is fully insulated and empty. I wouldn't fancy getting up there anyway but I'm lucky that I share big things like suitcases with my parents so they keep those in their loft, not sure what I'd do if I had big things like that round here though.
Anyway, hopefully I'll get moving soon but in the meantime I will keep seeking inspiration from you all. :T
When OH and I leave here the new people will probably find one of these in the tiny space above the former airing cupboard which housed the central heating header tank:o We replaced the very old CH boiler last year, the hot water tank and header tank now not needed. HW tank taken away, but when the houses were built, the roof tanks were fitted onto the joists and then the ceilings installed and the access traps fitted.:DThe best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. So... Am wide awake. Why oh why on a Monday morning which sees me on my feet until 830 tonight?
I could lie in bed and try to get back to sleep but thought I might as well crack on with tidying etc.Don’t put it down - put it away!

We have been really lucky with our houses. I have been the one late packing as we had terrible house movers one time and I couldn't clean up properly. I did apologise though.
We also left a stuffed crow in one loft as forgot about it.(oh bought it and it frightened the lifeout of me so it went straight up there, he wouldn't throw it away )
One house we moved into was really clean but the front door lock broke when we went out the next day after moving and there was a flea infestation!
Treated myself to a hand held Dyson so have been ko dust from the stairs. As my younger son pointed out years ago cleaning only happens when I get a new gadgetGrocery Challenge Feb 16 £346 /4000 -
Forgot to mention yesterday, a while ago OH got out a box full of matchbox cars that are /were his mothers. So Saturday night I said, come on let's have a look at these and decide what to do with them. Got the first out, well it was rather wonderful, a diddy little ford prefect. OH idly wondered if it was worth anything and checked. We think potentially £60-70  we have around 20 of the things of different sorts :eek:
I realise things are only worth what someone will pay, but potentially there is over £1000 worth there :T. And he is willing to sell.....I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
