Mavvy - clearing my Mum's house after she died (and she was a tidy person!) I found it very difficult as everything had the attachment to her and how she cared for her things. I don't want my family to agonise over anything and I don't want them to have to clear 'stuff'! Making my life simpler is a secondary - the mental and emotional benefit is of more value to me
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

I was planning on trying to sell baby clothes at an NCT sale but they now have a 10 clothing item limit and I don't think I would make enough to hire a table somewhere so I took the slightly gutwrenching decision to charity shop all of the beautiful barely worn baby things this morning.

Only 10 !! Wowzers. Ours is a fully ticketed sale with 50 items per packet of tickets and 3 packs allowed per seller and sellers dont need to attend the sale!

Have you though about using fa*cebk to sell baby stuff?

ETA: oops sorry didnt read on .....you have already tried that!!

These are prototypes, apparently one is required to be wearable the rest are to go on a stick the bread seller carries about with him

I've been asked if the wearable one can be longer and more pointy

That just made me pebble dash the monitor with frothy coffee and shortbread.............so glad I knew what they where:eek: Fab idea!

Just read this and it has made me think :D Why did YOU start this journey ?

What would be YOUR reason to declutter? Big life goal? (Or maybe you just can’t find your favourite black trousers…)

    Mav x

I began this because I was fed up with the stress of constantly living in a mess. Scurrying round to tidy up before visitors. Taking twice as long to clean because of all the stuff in the way. And losing things, including cheques, important documents and time-limited vouchers.

I didn't really believe I could change. My house still isn't perfect but it's been a complete revelation to me- if everything has a place then tidying is easy. And if something doesn't have a place then you have Too Much Stuff. Simple really!
Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.

Haha, just googled that and spluttered my coffee over my laptop! :rotfl:
  • We both had health problems and I feel like my life is so much easier after de-cluttering with the KM method. Everything seems simpler and less stressful, less cleaning, less clutter, and more routine which I find comforting.:)

I can't even remember what my home used to look like but I know we had loads of stuff, even in a small house. The amount we have cleared out was ridiculous, most/all of it was completely useless to us!:p

:) I've had a lifelong fascination with decluttering and organisation. I can remember poring over The Dairy Book of Home Management (cinderella sibling of the famous cookbook) as a very young girl as I tried to work out how to live life sensibly.

This need was because I grew up in a very cluttered and disorganised home which I had no control over. I don't mean that we lived in filth and squalor, kitchen and bathroom were always clean, there were hot meals every day, clothes and persons were washed, but all around me were constant examples of the all extra effort which is caused by having Too Much Stuff. It just made life so much harder than it needed to be.

Then, having developed ME as a 20 y.o. after a viral infection, I was simply a low-energy person who didn't need to waste what little juice I had on flailing around with carp.

Today, I am deep cleaning my bathroom (well, presently about to go back to it, have been having a rest before resuming the next stage). It's tiny room and awkward to clean, but the removal of the items which live in it took all of 30 seconds.
Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.
