I agree, I have done them in the past but never again, I would rather donate0

Ouch, bet that hurt GQ.
I've had the plumber in and he changed the kitchen tap, hurahh, no more dripping. He also took off the trap from the basin in our en-suite and we cleared that out as it was starting to block again. Tap will not be thanked on its way, failed long before it should have done, and no spare cartridges sold by B&Q who still sell the useless thing to purchase new. I never did like these taps, I just bought them as the previous one (lasting 15 years) was dripping badly and no replacement parts for that either. Not wild about the replacement but it won't be ours forever. It comes with a 5 years guarantee, I will make sure to print off and file paperwork in the receipts folder.Make £2025 in 2025

Tiny spark of joy today. I bought a second 99p basket for my desk. The 2 matching baskets, placed side-by-side, are a perfect fit and hold the essentials. It also means i can release an unloved basket that is too big for efficient use of the desk top
Today's work involved ( besides cleaning)
helping order a jacket online,
finding a cordless phone handset that had been mislaid,
undoing international call blocking on another phone, to allow client's relative to get through from abroad,
planting a lupin,
explaining why a tv keeps turning off 'all by itself' (client puts it on one channel and leaves it for ages so it powers down after FOUR hours!)
and listening to a bible reading.
Makes for an interesting day, one way or another!I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.0 -
One hour today with my daughter continuing the arts and crafts condo. We now have lots of containers (recycled containers at the mo) for different items.
- Box for paints and paint brushes
- Shoe box for glue, tape and string
- Glass for freshly sharpened coloured pencils and normal pencils
- Old rowntrees three part tub (got at christmas), one containing scissors including all the craft ones that cut out in different patterns, one for sharpies in all different colours, and one for felt tips.
- Tiny glass for small coloured pencils
- Tiny glass for white chalk
- Plastic tray (came with fruit) for stencils etc
- Small plastic tray (came with fruit) for tubes of glitter etc etc
She has started to take to the organising, and has been readily adding the excess pens etc to a ziplock bag for donation. It is strangely therapeutic actually seeing what you have.
She has been complaining re no glue, and now we have three pritt sticks, some PVA glue and two other misc glues! It is scary how unless you get everything together you can think you have run out of something and yet have loads! How entirely wasteful.
I think if we can get straight as while I was at work today and she was at home with OH who is on holiday, she made loads of stuff and had put everything we had already sorted back. I was very proud of her

This stuff comes in a sheet, cut a piece to fit under rug / square feet of sofa. It is sort of tacky fleecey stuff. Works a treat. Just in case the table does not work.
Still not kondo'd the tickly cough!
Thank you MMF007, I will take a look at this, there is a John Lewis a train ride away.
I've got a cough too, and a very sore throat which I got from my daughter who had it week before flying to Tenerife. I haven't yet heard how she is, and whether she has managed to kondo it.
Frogletina, would the solution to the sliding sofa be something like putting rubber under the feet? You can get sheets of rubbery textured 'cloth' in the poundstores and it's very useful because stuff doesn't slide around on it.
I will take a look in Poundland when I am feeling better.
Feel like death warmed up today which is why I am awake so early. Not easy to lie down when it makes you cough.

Spent yesterday kondoing my ex's cupboard under the stairs for a new electric meter to be installed. There was so much concrete dust and detritus in there which didn't help my cough one little bit.
I only put some of the things back in there, the rest need getting rid of. Some stuff was left there by my son at least 10 years ago.
My ex has just been diagnosed with alzheimers which we already suspected. Yesterday he went out twice to get teabags and came back without them. For now he can live in his home with some support, but I wonder for how long.

Morning all - not been here for a while. Real life and all that...
Visited dad yesterday - i still have a mission to reduce his clutter, but it's going to take a while. however, i went into the spare room (the room i usually sleep in) and there was noticeably stuff gone :T The bulkhead for the stairs is in there and, rather than having a cupboard as most do (and mine here does), it is a flat, raised, platform - ideal place for clutter to accumulate (as, indeed, it did). This is much clearer than it was (and stuff is gone - not pushed back, including a large picture of a now defunct pop group, why anyone wants to keep that is beyond me). Anyhow, all i could manage this time was a couple of circulars (letters) and two books that went straight to the chazzer on my way to the train. But out is out... I am hoping that when they (brothers mainly) start to notice how much better it is, they will do some decluttering themselves. I am hopeful this is starting to work, but not holding my breath.
One thing i noticed was a "Six Million Dollar Man" jigsaw puzzle... 1970 what? :rotfl: But it was in an obvious place so brother would notice if it went. If it's still there next time, it will go - probably straight to the bin as i can't believe even the chazzer could sell it.
Need to tidy my own house today and have a quick dust as we are away for a week from tomorrow. This 'cleaning the house before you go away' is new for me, but i really appreciated it last time i did it.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -

Maybe we should send GQ round to deal with your dad and brothers, since she appears to be an unstoppable force...0 -
One of the things with having the tap changed yesterday, I had to pull out all the stuff under the sink. I managed to find the tin of fly spray I couldn't find last year and had bought a replacement for....... Second tin has been moved to our sun room which is the main place we get flys coming in when the door is opened. At least I will be able to put my hands on it immediately.
I have also discovered I need a container for my dusters as they creep all over the place. I'll keep my eye open for a mushroom box or similar. I need to put back in the stuff from the top shelf, only bottom shelf went back last night. Good excuse for a tidy up though. Sadly, this isn't all of the under sink carp, there's a box in the garage with a load more duplicates I'm trying to use up. Need to clean more often so I can get rid of it........... Hmmm........... have to think on that one!Make £2025 in 2025
