iamsalt, I am sure you will get more jars from people. I have always made jam and often from the likes of blackcurrants, which I have grown. It took me a long long time to come to terms with the fact that the children had flown the nest, I still bought and catered for five. Then when we moved I took all those lovely jars of blackcurrant and raspberry jams with me but there was no-where decent to keep them in my last house. Dh had not yet built all those lovely narrow shelves under the stairs. I gave them away, to on-site builders and delivery men. It was a pleasure to see their faces but also taught me a lesson.
I still have gorgeous jams, damson and so on from the local hedges here, chutneys galore, except I don`t eat chutney, so they are a slow give-away to my children. They are safe and sound in a cool dark place and properly prepared, so they store well for years. Last hm marmalade from seville oranges was from three winters ago, I gave the big jars away but still use the small jars. The marmalade is so delicious. Just saying that there has to be lines between what is easy to give away, what is easy to give away after a time of storage and what will definitely one day be used and loved for being used again
Today I weighed myself and have lost a little weight, thought so, my tummy has become flatter after new food regime plus cycling. Very slow but a permanent change as it is a lifestyle change. That feelgood feeling made me put on a nice top and skirt today, not my normal about-house clothing. Feeling good is now spiralling into feeling better about me, hence the clothes and the lipstick.
Today I will try on two pairs of trousers that I have not worn in a long time, if they are starting to feel gappy around the waist, then they will be going to the hospice shop. I decided to take all my many (>50) balls of yarn there today, they should easily get £1 a ball as it is worth a lot more than that. Its my way of giving back to the universal flow and a thank you for the karma woo from yesterday.0 -
I have been doing short sessions Kondoing weeds in the back garden. Foxglove self sets in the wrong place, sedges, creeping weeds and many other types too. My wearying illness does not allow for long spells of effort, but Karmacat has unwittingly nudged me into getting started.
We have very large gardens and I could cry at the state of them after 2.1/2 years neglect though my illness, but that wouldn't achieve anything, so softly, softly I hope the monkey will be caught.
Our house will never be minimalist, but the MC thing really is catching and I am finding myself needing to simplify it and open it up somehow, I am hoping that will help my energy continue to recover too.The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
Oh dear lord i have just walked into DDs student flat
So hideous.....I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Hope you recover from the shock VJsmum!
Lovely sunny day here (and last of my sick leave) so am getting lots of washing done. Discovered how dusty the cushions and cushion covers are after all the building work (despite being packed up for large parts of it) so have started putting them through the washing machine. I know I'll have to TD the cushions to make sure they are completely dry, but at least the covers (and the initial drying can happen in the sunshine.
I now have some help with the cleaning, and am finding that this is making me tidier. At some point I'll have to clear out my office and get that clean, as everything seems to be migrating there to be dealt with, but it is certainly helping. I also need to get the garden furniture out of the garage this weekend as the weather is now nice enough, the patio is clean and I need the space for packing up the kitchen!0 -
Great news on the money windfalls. Kittie my dd1 had a horrid woman boss like that, but dd moved to another office and now is senior to her and several pay grades higher, so definite karma:T
I was reading spark joy when I had a lbm, my airing cupboard is large and has 1 narrow shelf in front of boiler, which has my towels on.the area underneath is large , I did ask hubby to shelve it years ago but he's never got round to it. so it meant all bedding sat at the back on the floor with a set of those plastic drawers on wheels sat in front, it is labelled up and holds my toiletries and first aid stuff, next to that is a box holding cleaning stuff for bathroom.
I realised that I could put the bedding for each room in the room the bedding is for as I have a set of 3 wicker drawers in main bedroom that held very little so i re homed what I needed to keep. That now has king sized sets in , and the double sets have gone in a spare plastic crate in wardrobe in other bedroom.:T
I also realised that the basket on the dressing table could be moved to the other room, this stores my makeup bag and deodorant and body lotion. The basket in that room has gone in the airing cupboard to replace the big box with hand towels in, so that big box now holds the spare toilet rolls instead of keeping them in the ugly big packet, as we buy the big 18 roll packs, the downstairs loo has 2 decorative suitcases with spare rolls.
I will debate wether to move the wicker drawers into the airing cupboard but for now am happy with the result much tidier and easier to access.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.0 -
I saw this and thought of you all...

Lovely sunny day here so DH mowed the lawn while I cleaned the greenhouse windows. I also started on power washing the patio - got about 2/3 done before my back started aching. I'll get the rest done later in the week, it looks so much better!Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

The longterm guest is proving quite a handy man! He helped remove the wallpaper yesterday, then replastered a deep floor to ceiling gap in the wall, and today has helped sanding down all the walls. We will paint the ceiling tomorrow afternoon, and only then start wallpapering.
While they were doing that, I have done two loads of laundry, taken the car to the inspection (passed), went to the Vehicle Import office to be turned away as they were not letting anyone in after 14.30 due to the very long queue, cooked dinner.Are you wombling, too, in '22? € 58,96 = £ 52.09Wombling in Restrictive Times (2021) € 2.138,82 = £ 1,813.15Wombabeluba 2020! € 453,22 = £ 403.842019's wi-wa-wombles € 2.244,20 = £ 1,909.46Wombling to wealth 2018 € 972,97 = £ 879.54Still a womble 2017 #25 € 7.116,68 = £ 6,309.50Wombling Free 2016 #2 € 3.484,31 = £ 3,104.590
