kittie! greent! Congratulations to both! Karma roolz ok
Like GQ, I've overdone it a tiny bit, so I'm not doing much today, I'm off to see a friend at the weekend, so I want to be fine for that. And my router is playing upbut the clutter and the dirt are subsiding, as well as the to-do lists, thats all I can ask for really
2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
What a lovely surprise for Kittie & GreenT - enjoy and I'll have a G&T with GQ please!
Just fiddling about today - did clear all the empty pots etc off the top of the fridge that I'd been saving for the freezer Sorted them out - binned some, CS some and the rest tidied away for future garden produce. I also cleared out my redundant Tupperware - got a small collection now to go on Fleabay when I get it all photographed. Got some YS Portobello mushrooms so have stuffed them with some breadcrumbs and a pack of boursin that been lurking in the bottom of the fridge. We'll have those and a stir fry tonight to make sure we have so e veggies!Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Congratulations Kittie and Greent - karma indeed!
You've all got me thinking about my kitchen work tops. I have stuff out that really sparks joy - my stand mixer, my Joseph Joseph bowls and chopping boards, and two pots of spoons, whisks, spatulas etc. which are slightly less joyful. The mixer is used at least every week, the other stuff more often. It is a PITA to clean up though. I have glass worktop savers because the worktop are wooden, and it's hard to keep everything clean. I have no cupboard space - think this needs a major rethink.
LizzieR and Charis, I was able to choose from about six empty notebooks to start my bullet journal (in my defence some of these are gifts that have been personalised with photos, so I couldn't put them in a charity bag). And yes ... I rejected the really nice one as 'too good' ... have I learned nothing? :rotfl: day 2 of bullet journaling and I'm quite impressed. If I'm still doing it after a month, that'll prove its working.Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.0 -
Oh, my! I'd forgotten about Nursie. Don't tell her, I've no wish to see that scary figure approaching Chez Moi. Anyway, it seems that GQ still needs her to be the Henry (or Henri, for our Francophile friends) Monitor.
I've also taken note of the Bullet Journal and think that it might be just the thing for me to get my head round.
Only problem is, what do I do with the multitude of exercise books I have with a few pages used in each. I must have at least 3 Chistmas books which theoretically hold lists of gifts given and received (to make quite sure that no one gets one of their gifts to me sent back to them), various Christmassy recipes and ideas for decorations and crafts.. Then there are the bits of paper and old envelopes (I am very thrifty) for shopping lists and to-do lists. The spiral pads that breed when I take my eyes off them but which are so useful for jotting things down when one of the exercise books has gone AWOL............
Mm. This Jounal thing merits a bit more looking into.
Thanks all of you, you are an inspiration.

I use French exercise books I buy when on holiday - I love the layout of the ruled pages.
I call them my "plot books", where I do all my plotting and planning. They bring back as many memories as a diary when I look back through themIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -

GnT all round tonight. Going to try and take my sensible hat off for a change. Its in the bs for now and I know I will send some back into the ether, that keeps it going around
DD has had a very very bad two years of workplace bullying, I won`t go into detail, suffice to say that she was victim number eight under this woman boss, public company. The other seven left through stress, dd was very much on the verge. DD spent a few weeks de-cluttering her house, so that the kitchen is nice for starters and they eat together as a family. Last week they had an offer on her house and yesterday, nasty vindictive boss left, suddenly. I believe dd has had that karma woo too.
I am in quiet mode today, an accepting mood. Not ambitious for anything and living in the moment. It happens from time to time and as always, I just go with the flow. I had my outdoor time with my bike, I made my bed and hung my clothes up. The kitchen is nice all the time now, all I need do is a quick wipe. I do need to sort bags and get that makeup drawer sorted, the lipstick came today, cool tone and much brighter red than I have ever worn and it looks just right on me. I will be starting to watch her videos this evening, I need to learn and she knows her stuff
btw, I also have notebooks for best, no point, I should use them
Polly I also love my stand mixer and have left it out and my coffee machine and grinder and my breadmaker, which lurks next to a forward cupboard. My precious and heavy ice cream maker is out and I have a hob kettle and a pot of utensils. Silver-grey tea caddies and a tea bag stand in black, for all my herb teas, amazon find and it goes across the corner, softens the corner in reality. Just hand wash left on the sink, in a nice simplehuman dispenser and a small coloured metal bread bin. Thats it. My ice cream maker would be away but is too heavy, anyway I love a dollop of hm real ice cream. I have a narrower dark grey sink bowl and a dish rack stands in there, to come out if needed. Its a joseph joseph wash n drain from lakeland. One of my best buys0 -
Just come of the phone with the folks. They've decided to come to the city on Sunday and bring me my scaffolding poles. Because Nat Hexpress prolly don't want me dragging them across the county on the bus.
The scaffolding poles (2) were in my Nan's garden forming the ends of the permanant row for the runner beans, with a length of steel linen line between them. When we cleared her bungalow and its garden last autumn, I asked that they be saved for my allotment, which happened.
Mum has also decided that a random Ornamental Object from her sis-in-law which was an Xmas gift can go bootsaling, as can a couple of unopened gifts from the previous year from same person (who'd won them as draw prizes and didn't want them herself - I wonder how many households these have circulated thru unopened?).:rotfl:
Oh and a small Le Crueset saucepan, much battered, which she was going to scrap but which I'll stick out there for a £1 to see if anyone wants it - we can always scrap it later on if necessary. We paid 30p for it at a jumble sale about 20-odd years ago so it doesn't owe us anything.
I'm encouraging Mum to think of any other random things she doesn't want which we can try selling and she seems ameniable to letting a few things go, which is great. We're taking the small car - astra - so can't have incredible quantities of Stuff but as a master (mistress?) of the packing arts, you'd be surprised what I can get in a vehicle.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Sounds like your Mum is doing well GQ. It's often the small odds and ends that need to be cleared rather than the big stuff.
I always find with car boots that I can pack very efficiently to go, but however much I sell, the remainder is always difficult to pack back in as I'm in much more of a rush. Having said that, I've stopped doing them now as I just don't have the time/storage/patience.
Neighbour is going to the tip soon, so hopefully can take some of the stuff the builder keeps failing to remove.0 -

Hello.
How exciting for Kittie and greent
Managed to sort out 3 cubby holes in the wall of cupboards this weekend, which is a big improvement. Most went to recycling, I had saved loads of jam jars for cooking, but I realised that with trying to move and a new job I won't have time this year, and I am sure I can manage with asking friends for jars when I need them. We also managed to paint the porch which needed it a lot. It feels a much happier place to step into, and interestingly, I misread the colour so it's a warmer colour paint than I was expecting but looks much nicer than the cream we had in there before.
Mum had a fall while out last week, only a small broken bone in her hand and lots of bruising but has been a big shock to her and I am having to do a lot for her at the moment. She has been managing to sit quietly to sort through bags of old newspapers so for her there is still some gentle movement of paper outwards, which while isn't an instant wow change, is one of the gentle underlying ones which I hope will help her into the future.
S x£400,000 starting Jan 2020 current end date Aug 2041 I would love the end date to be 2027 but will aim first for 2037.
1% target £4000 so far £20 paid0
