Lizzie - I think you've hit the nail on the head for me. My lists do help with the mental chaos and surely that must be a little bit of Kondo!.
Juliebunny - so agree - I took my friend out for lunch on Friday and we had a look round a few of the major stores - neither of us bought anything! The colours and styles were so uninspiring, we commented on the way home that nothing had even sparked a flicker of joy. I did see a nice skirt in a CS but decided it was a want not a need so put it back.

Another gorgeous sunny day coming up. Definitely going out on the bike again, had to keep my mouth tight shut yesterday as there were clouds of small flies, ughh, they banged against my face and my fleece was covered in them. Swarm after swarm, I can`t wait for the swallows and house martins to come back and deal with them. Was really horrible, dense clouds, time after time

I stupidly carried on kondo when I went up to bed, picked up two beaded necklaces, tiny beads, which fell apart all over the floor, ended up picking zillions of beads up for the bin. I now have a basket of jewellery and hair items for the grandaughters, will do for bribery purposes for a few months :D but I could not get to sleep,my fault, should have known better

That emptied some lovely acrylic storage boxes
    http://www.muji.eu/pages/online.asp?qmde=pr&qprd=236
which will be re-used for make up, at a glance, in drawer storage. Empty bedroom drawer, nice for a makeup area :)

Those at the bottom, the pp boxes are the ones in my bathroom, ten of the open topped larger ones in the cupboard and a few assorted pots elsewhere, holding creams etc. They are very nice

The empty small baskets in my snug, in a storage unit, they will house electricals like tablets and wires, hopefully then reducing the jumble in living room drawers

No real list today, nothing much needs doing, just pleasurable stuff

Lovely sunny morning here, OH tells me it will be warm in front garden so going out there for a while, then come in and shower the aches away.

A while back, think it was on here, there was some discussion about weeds/plants in the wrong place? A big herbacious/shrub border here is being taken over by Bluebells, I don't mind a few, but they are so dammed invasive, I am sure someone said that they were managing to get to grips with them at last, sorry cannot remember who, but if you see this how did you get rid of the dammed things please?

I have tried digging them up, but they seem to be deep and it is hard to get purchase under the shrubs and with painful joints too.

:rotfl: Yesterday I was breathing through my mouth as though it was through a straw because my nose was not always enough. Would have gone by now but I think it will help to go about lunchtime. The moors lane was nice, open spaces each side and no flies. I could feel them going bang all over my face and neck when I went into the swarms, they are little, like fruit flies

I could not easily reach tinned tomatoes this morning, hands and knees and the two tins were right at the back. It isn`t ideal to store spare food in a low cupboard at my age but I am not ready for final placements yet. I will have to eat more first. When I do store finally, I will make a laminated tick list for replacements I am already thinking to swap into a pullout shelving unit on r side of dw. I have two such shelves and they are very strong, will carry lots of tins but later, something to think about

Kittie I love that Japanese range, I have several items! A shallow tray/box thing I used to have make up in, has been repurposed now to the kitchen and holds all my spices. It's just the right size plus as it's easy to pull out, I put them on a higher shelf.i just lift it down when cooking. Much easier than scrambling through the jars in the cupboard as I used to.

  • LizzieR thank you so much for that link. It's the first time I've really understood what 'bullet journal' is about - I've seen it referred to in various places but I thought it meant you had to buy a special system, I know some people use books with stickers etc and I really don't want to spend money acquiring Stuff! I have umpteen unused notebooks however ... far too many.

I have commented before that I find it difficult to manage my time effectively now I'm self-employed and working from home. I never miss an essential work deadline but it's hard to schedule in time for 'fun' stuff like baking, sewing etc - it always gets pushed to the end of the list. I might give this a try - it'll cost nothing after all. Thanks very much.

I had thought that they were Spanish ones, they really are acting in a very thuggish way too, as I remember from a previous garden our native ones there seemed to stay in check much better?

Probably. I've been digging out spanish ones for three years and they still keep coming back... I've even sprayed them and they don't seem bothered. The only thing I can suggest is digging out or cutting down so the bulbs eventually starve. Someone else may have other ideas.

My natives, of course, as very shy and not multiplying at the rate I'd like!
