Since I have been recovering slowly I have loved my lists, they give me a memory jog and a sense of achievement, but I do not beat myself up when carrying numerous problems until another day, I do not feel the need to justify myself to a list or anyone else, we are all different:D I am just so dammed grateful to be achieving anything at all after so long.:j:j:j (More gently bounce than an energetic leap:D)The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. I met someone today who was clearing her aunt's house and asked how I did it as I had to clear 3 homes in the past. She had cleaned the whole lot and before the house went on the market they looked in the loft. It was full of those old pigskin suitcases covered in stickers from foreign places. All very heavy and all full of never used linens. Think 150 linen napkins etc etc.
I told her I had sold all my grandmothers tablecloths napkins pillow cases all hand embroidered on the bay of E to whoever was daft enough to buy them. They all went to the states and I got the cost of a good holiday with the change:p0 -
I read spark joy to the end today, wasn`t too impressed tbh. There is more, better help on this thread. What put me off her was that she only does tidying, nothing much else. What a life! Thankfully most of us have hobbies that spark more joy than tidying. However, she did get everyone fired up about kondo and that was a very good thing
I had to have a nap after that, eyes felt heavy. Then was revitalised and started stage two of my medicines and supplements. That then took me into the bathroom and a narrow store cupboard off the bedroom. I have brought a load downstairs to binI have a very shallow tall cupboard in the bathroom, floor to ceiling and I had put japanese make-up storage boxes in there, all labelled and I suppose that was stage one. I remember measuring that cupboard so accurately and getting two on a shelf. I still think they are fantastic and todays event only took me a couple of very pleasurable hours

Well OH and I have spent the day visiting the town we plan to move to, looking at the 2 houses we have had offers accepted on in the last week (whoops!) and deciding on which one. It was the one I only saw for 15 mins and OH hadn't seen at all. Fortunately, entirely by chance, the vendors were there starting to clear it out (probate case), the agents hadn't told them we were visiting again today, not expecting anybody to be there. Anyway they seem thoroughly reasonable people so we don't anticipate any games playing. They said they would leave us the fridge/freezer and washer/drier in addition to the dishwasher I had already asked for. We will be renting the house out for a couple of years before we move so it's useful to have the appliances left.
The house will need some rooms painting and some new carpets but other than that looks pretty rentable. The kitchen and bathroom are in good condition.
The agent when she turned up, found us all drinking tea/eating biscuits, said it is a very rentable property and will give us a quote, so that was useful also.
Just got to go back the agent for the other one and let them know we won't be going ahead.Make £2025 in 2025

The second boom-box is at the tip and I have planted half of the spuds - it took quite a time because I had to fork through that whole area of the plot again to deal with the horsetails. Will be back again tomorrow to plant the other 2 kg.
Absolutely flipping glorious weather today, loving it.:DEvery increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Charis, a very good substitute is biona sprouted rye bread. Low carb as such is a nonsense fad, everyone needs carbs but it is the quality that matters. I don`t eat potatoes or sweet potatoes but I do have the likes of wholegrain spelt pasta sometimes. Fat also helps to slow the conversion of starch to sugar so baked potato with butter is not too bad for some. For lunch look for wholegrain wraps
Thank you Kittie, I'll see what I can find in the local health food shop. It's an Aladdins' cave in there and unless I know what I'm looking for it's like shopping in a foreign land. I used to eat wholemeal pitta, had forgotten about that, and wholegrain spelt pasta sounds a lot better than the usual white kind.0 -

Must admit I love my lists but I never put myself under pressure to complete them within a timescale they are more of an aide memoire than anything. Just got home after lift in - all went well and the engineer was there ready to check over my new engine and sign it off. I felt very proud of myself as DH was helping to strop the boats so I took the boat off the quay, helmed her while the engineer did his checks and then I put her on the pontoon .....All by myself!!! I usually have DH or DS1 on hand but not today. One of the older more experienced ladies did compliment me on how much I learned in a short time - didn't tell her I was bricking it at the time lol!
Tomorrow I've a few jobs to do but I'll also have a sort out for some more stuff to go to the charity sale on Easter Monday. I've also got some broad beans to plant out - they didn't make it to my list thoughSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
That's interesting about the Next story. I walked out of Primarni EMPTY handed today. Just didn't need anything and couldn't get excited by it. Unheard of! I need a dress for a summer wedding so now just thinking i might revisit my youth and trawl the chazza shops. Because I could only afford second hand for a long time i then wanted new stuff but seems to have come full circle now.
Ticked off the ballet from my bucket list today and loved it. Unfortunately that means tomorrow is catch up on everything else day.....so looking forward to all the bank holidays off work in in dire need of some days off....Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!
Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!0 -
All this talk of lists, I've always been a list writer, but did sometimes get downhearted by them. About a year ago I read about bullet journals http://bulletjournal.com/get-started/ and found myself a nice notebook to start one. It's been really effective for me - kind of like a diary that you can interrupt with lists, notes, anything random you feel like at any point (unlike a normal diary) all kept in one place. I was a bit skeptical, but it seems to work for me and I don't feel the same pressure to get things done as there's a system for moving them on, and I don't end up writing new lists combining all the incomplete tasks from other lists (if that makes sense...!) What I find quite satisfying is that I can look back at what I have ticked off in previous weeks / months, which when I'm having an unproductive week makes me feel a bit better and generally more capable. It's definitely helped me a bit with my procrastination habit as I sometimes add little notes saying how I feel having done a task I was worried about / putting off eg it was quicker, easier than expected etc, which is quite encouraging when I'm facing something I'm worried about doing. As a logical, fairly intelligent, person I know putting things off causes me stress, but seeing these little notes to myself can help more than the internal dialogue when I'm in the midst of procrastination!
Some folks seem to make their bullet journals look like beautiful works of art but that wouldn't suit me - drawing is not one of my gifts! Mine is a really practical and functional looking little book. I spend about 15 mins on it on a Sunday doing a bit of planning of the week ahead and then update as needed throughout the week. It just helps me get my head prepared for the week ahead and has helped me Kondo a bit of mental chaos :-)0
