  • Some paperwork sorted and recycled etc. Home help noticed a difference at last so hope that's the corner turned and it's downhill all the way to joydom.

More of the same today and planning for next week and hope to have some rare leisure time with OH tomorrow to recharge our batteries to get us through the next couple of busy weeks.

Both good points, Siebrie, and one of them *was* giving me grief when I saw the name, you're right. Safely gone now.
Which charity shop is the one to donate "old" (i.e. no longer the right prescription) specs to please?
    Would that be Oxfam?
Thanks to Hobsons Choice for the question, and VJsmum for answering - we have at least half a dozen old pairs of spectacles of my mum's that need to go, and I hadn't had time to work out where to take them.

Today - still kondoing in the garden :o it's shocking.

  • nice helpful answers yet again, thank you. I cannot believe how much I have done in 2 1/2 hours but had to have a break now, enjoyed my weekend croissant and the last of my whittard flavoured coffees :D so that is the six boxes now gone for good

Yes I have taken all bar one peruvian tepestry out and the spinning wheels plus two electrical items destined to be rehomed on monday and the room already looks far lighter, this room has a complete window wall, I left the dark owl wallhanging for now but am planning on sorting another but very light one to replace it. Somethings have a time and place but its time and place are now over. I have no regrets as I have supported artisan peruvian craftspeople by buying the tepestries directly from them. I will be storing the tapestries in an empty space in a decluttered empty storage box, one is a strong rug but not big and would just be clutter as a rug. One day they will go to oxfam, who get good money for special items, one at a time though.

As expected, my other room is now a complete mess and oh and the dust fluff was on all out of reach edges, hardly surprising as I have been spinning in the snug for weeks. All clean now, bottomed as they used to say. Sockets, I have 5 in there but I have re-vamped and hammered a short length of socket cable with large cable grips and using a small head hammer. I hate messy cables. I had labelled everything so quickly found the three items :D

Break is over, so back to it. Must get finished by lunchtime as I have sourdough urgently needing my attention
  • Spent some time yesterday sorting out the cupboard under the sink. I had a load of cleaning stuff in there, as well as a bag of stuff that was elsewhere in the kitchen. It's one of those awkward cupboards that you can get at half of but the rest is in the corner of the kitchen, so things just seems to huddle in the corner where I can't reach them. Found an empty box which now includes all the bottles and which I can slide out easily, and have used a small trug to put all the cloths, and funny shaped bits in. Everything is now easy to see and reach, which should make life easier. I keep opening the cupboard door just to look at it all - I know a lot of you will totally understand :)

  • Finished, snug now gives me a joyful feeling. I am not thinking about my very messy craft room, I dumped stuff in there, I know I did. Another day for that, there is a limit to what a body can do in a day

Has anyone on here ever managed to keep every room tidy after the de-clutter?

Slow and steady here, full of cold. Still washing the holiday clothes. My plan for my slim clothes and holiday clothes is to wash, iron and photograph them and add a comment on each picture of the size, then create an online photo album. Fans of the film Clueless may recognise this as getting Cher's computer wardrobe!!!!! All of this stuff was edited last year and again last week, so it really is just the good stuff I'm holding on to.
Since the Kondo of the main wardrobe I've found it much easier to manage and nicer to shop. I saw a lovely dress which I bought the other week and realised I have a party next month so that's the outfit sorted. Between cleaning I am messing about with my eye make up experimenting to find a mix to wear with the dress. This is much joy for me. Also it's nice to be so organised ahead of time!

    Afternoon,

I'm de-lurking to ask your advice on runner beans seeing as quite few of you are avid growers ... I can get vigorous plants but not much in the way of actual runner beans, what am I doing ring?

I have the red flowered variety (can't recall their name) and I get them germinated ok and then plant them on into a big plastic pot with a saucer underneath, my mum told me to feed them with chicken poo pellets and tomorite which I do, they have plenty of sun as I have a south facing garden and I can move the pot if I need to ... but still not much to write home about.

    Anything obvious? Thanks muchly

If you are getting flowers and no beans than you have pollination problem is my guess. Plant some flowers/plants that attract bees nearby that might help. I was also advised once to lightly 'shower' flowers with hosepipe to aid pollination but cant vouch for that as never had an issue. I do know runners are heavy drinkers too. My grandmother always use to plant runners in a trench full of well soaked newspaper in the bottom and then well rotted compost on top -always had loads of beans!!

  • how do you display photos? Maybe you don`t. I have a small shelf and am not hanging any on the wall and I don`t want a conglomeration of small frames. Should I display photos or not? I am not sure, I don`t need photos to remember my family members, but.....
