Ooh, I took a day off thanks to Doris! Rang my clients at 9am and put appointments off til tomorrow.
Took full advantage of this bonus day at home and kondo'd receipts that are past usefulness, found 4 bits of komono for CS, a book to pass to a friend, updated my 'office' calendar for planned long weekends in spring and summer :D, booked in a new regular client (I really am fully booked now, only took this lady on because I know her and she is lovely!), added my new client to my work calendar and re-shuffled a visit to elderly friend and another flexible visit so I can still go to my art class! Then I devised a new timesheet to record several weekly tasks I now undertake for a family who live elsewhere (the tasks vary and so does the time taken so I need to itemise and bill in detail to be fair to them).

I added a few useful numbers to my phone, deleted lots of txts :rotfl: and added 2 crucial reminders.

Booked an asthma review for end of March (hope to have lost another 6 lbs by then so nurse can confirm 3 stone loss for the 12 months :D:D:D).

Checked my utililies bills and am in credit :D

I did a stock-take of my cleaning supplies for my work and was pleased to note that stocking up when items were on offer means I should have it covered until around Easter :)

All in all, a very satisfying day, finished with a very tasty low carb dinner!
I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.
  • More paper went yesterday (although recycling is still in the house due to bins being scattered around the garden) and more planned for today. Feeling lighter already and there is still a ton - well it feels as much as that - to go.

Plan for today is yet more paper. Need to fill in a form but too tired so will leave it until tomorrow.

Not very exciting but it will make a massive difference to my life to have the piles finally gone.

  • All recycling has gone so I can start again with that

Well done to everyone who's doing so well with their kondoing

Just wanted to pop in with a confirmation about how important deleting texts is! About a month after my mum died (so, no acute emergencies, but lots of low level worry stuff) texts that were being sent to me stopped arriving - I thought it was a problem connected with my sister being in France at first, but after i found two other contacts had also sent me texts I hadn't received, I googled it, and found that I needed to delete texts. Because I don't, ever :o

It was sort of tricky - there's a lot of texts on this phone that I want to keep for legal reasons, so in the end, I went through a whole thread of texts, took photos with my camera of the screen of my mobile phone :o, downloaded and backed up the text photos, and then deleted the texts :o It sounds a lot of shenanigans, but there are legal realities behind it :(

Otherwise, for kondoing, I did huge amounts of paperwork yesterday, I'm finally starting to see some space appear, including getting to my desk. I didn't want to carry on kondoing the overgrown hedging plants during Doris, but I still wanted to do something useful. Today, with this lovely blue sky, I can see how much effect the hedging-kondoing has had - lots of sun where my garden wasn't getting sun this time last year!

Karmacat, If you have to keep the texts for legal reasons, then (1) they are better off your phone and stored somewhere safer (what if you forget your phone on the train?), and (2) you don't want to encounter them unexpectedly and give you grief.

I'm at work, bored with the tasks I should be doing, looking forward to my vacation (those two are very much linked :)). I want to kondo stuff at home, but I need to start packing tonight, because we need to be in the car by 10am tomorrow morning.

    Everyone is doing so well.

I have been Kondo-ing paperwork, which I thought I had taped - but not! Trouble is I have a lot of 'ongoing paperwork' - stuff has to be kept for a certain time for tax and other reasons. One lot was all neatly tidied in one GREAT lump!! Now, in section and date order. Mammoth task. Just got to decide where to keep it so available, but just not in the way.

    Also started on the photos......

    Onwards.

Hello, busy day today, but I managed to grab a couple of my boxes of stored stuff from Mum's and they were easily kondo'd due to water and mouse damage. OH and I also managed to get an old very stained carpet from his dad's to the tip, and as he is out later this evening, I will do make a start on some of the MK categories for my own things.

Not having to make a decision on the damaged items did make it easier, but even just that box of old cards and letters made me feel like I had let go of some of the past.

Siebrie if you come to the uk via Dover be sure to wave if you drive up the A2 towards London!
£400,000 starting Jan 2020 current end date Aug 2041 I would love the end date to be 2027 but will aim first for 2037.

  • I thought I had finished for a while but no, one thing leads to another. I have those cozee home sheets on my bed and yes they are lovely in the cold months but I was hot again last night and it was the sheets. I have swapped them for natural sheets and have taken my electric blanket off and thought `may as well turn the mattress`. What a heave ho, only a single size but a very heavy hypnos, got to do it every 3 months, turn or toss, I numbered each end so I know where I am up to. Then I ended up sorting loads in a bedroom cupboard, poured so many of my liquid herbals down the sink. La, la, la, la oh well black friday deals are not deals if stuff is not used. Lesson learnt. Off to the tip with a boot full again

Honestly all this kondo has made me think twice about what I buy and for that alone, it is a good thing. Reading my feng shui book last night, it links so much with MK. This flow of energy (chi) makes for happiness and a good feeling, it stagnates with clutter and this is oh so true. The feeling of lightness and relief when clutter has gone, it is worth every single step and the sacrifices of chucking out or giving away

I have been watching channel 26 at 7pm, called buying and selling. American programme so the houses are massive but I am seeing many good tips about making a room look good. I think I am getting there with my bedroom, they mention a pop of colour and I have done that with a throw on my buttermilk coloured sheeting. It has made all the difference
