KonMari 2016 - The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up

Fellow Kondoers, you would have been proud of me today. Been to Ikea (half term week, must be mad) and came away spending less than £10. Went in for a new shower caddy, got that, also got some lime green coloured apple scented candles which will be nice in our lounge (is it possible to visit Ikea and not buy candles?) as we have used up the previous ones. Bought 2 new loo brushes and holders on impulse, but seeing they were 39p each, not much of an expense.
After that I went to Costco (half term week, I am mad) and came away with just the items on my list. It helps I don't like the shop so go and grab the things I want and get out as quickly as I can.Make £2025 in 2025

ooh I am learning so much, liking the digital stuff. My digital brain stopped at word and windows 7. The most advanced I have got is using apache open office (free and good), when I don`t know how the heck to open something. It works
GQ such a good idea re the milk containers for storage. I am going to follow that one
I spent most of today dreaming about a small folding bike, one that is so small it can fit in my boot and light enough for me to lift, so I can expand my horizons and go in the car, park and then ride in safe places. I am going to do it, am getting one and I`ll even make a parking space for it, under a desk. I digress, I did do some kondo, those two drawers in the hall, the ones that hold and attract all sorts. Threw a fair bit of stuff out but the other things have to go somewhere, so a hall drawer will do fine. Sigh still dreaming but this dream is going to come true0 -
Glad you liked the idea, kittie.
There's a brand of folding bike called Br0mpton which seem to be very popular. I've often thought they'd be a useful thing to carry in a car to enable a little pottering around somewhere without having to do a long and dangerous journey on a main road to get to somewhere picturesque.
Went and had a poke around in the chest-of-drawers and have decided that several items of clothing can go. One has gone into the rag-bag, shamefully. Have 'found' several items which I'd forgotten I owned and one of them will be on my back tomorrow at the office to see if it still suits. A few other things are going to live with someone else, will go to the boot sale in the first instance at Easter and then to the chazzer if they don't sell.
My sewing machine has come back from the repair shop to my parents' place today and they will now be coming up on Sunday with it and with some other bits & bobs and taking some of my bits & bobs away, so lots of things need to be organised to take advantage of that trip.
Have sent my MIA freegler a message asking if they still want the appliance and saying offer is still open until the weekend, then it gets offered to someone else. Seven days after the day they said they'd collect seems a reasonable timeframe and I do like to get things gone once I've decided that they're going.
Righty, onwards and upwards. GQ xxEvery increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

3 weeks in the carribean? Envious? Me?
Thanks for the tip GQ, I'll get a milk carton and transfer the soda crystals.
Kondo-ing has slowed down here at the moment, too many hours at work at the moment, my lovely colleague and good friend passed away a couple of weeks ago so I don't have a minute.
I do have a little ornament a friend bought me for looking after her children last year that should make it's way out of the door, it may have to have a little accident!0 -
Yesterday went to put something in shed, just as well it was a nice day, as ended up emptying it Will now be a lot easier to reach garden tools, lawn mower
and retrieve bistro (woooo - get me :rotfl:) set once weather improves
Another little bit done-coathangers-39 off - gone
just because I'm going through my wardrobe (ssssss)
that's 6 off them, just incase you are wondering
Off to post 2 parcels, another 2 treasures out of house. Oh, and gave my mum my extra iron I had lying around along with a bottle of moisturiser (random items) but out of the house, all the same. Feeling so pleased with myself.Always have 00.00 at the end of your mortgage and one day it will all be 0's :dance:MF[STRIKE] March 2030[/STRIKE] Yes that does say 2030  Mortgage Free 21.12.18 _party_Now a Part Timer from 27.10.190 -
Got my box of seeds out yesterday to see what I had & start planting. Sorted them into categories - garden flowers, veg, salad veg. Some are well past their sell by date but will use them anyway - they've got 2 chances - live or die! I had a problem a few years ago - planted 2 trays of beans and only one or two came up - lost patience & dumped the rest of them into a tray hoping at least 2 or 3 would germinate and they all came up lol. Kondoing planting potatoes this year - I have to plant in tubs but never seem to get much for the effort involved. Looking at perpetual spinach instead.Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

Silva saver I know what you mean, whenever I plant something from seed the seed germinates and I think I'm doing well then something seems to go wrong and I can't !!!!! them out ( bloody Alan titch Marsh makes it look so easy) and pot on . Also when I've bought tomato plants and strawberry plants I never get much from them , it would be cheaper to just buy a punnet!! The only thing I can manage is chillies. So I told hubby not to let me buy any plants this year.
I'm sticking with shrubs and perennials.
Thanks for the stuff on scanners, I suppose what I meant was I don't know how to physically do it!!
Files and stuff I can never find again once it's on the computer.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.0 -
I did my seed sorting just a few days ago and am using a lot of last years seeds, I just sow a few more, just in case. I only bought parsnips and tomato new and counted out 5 tomato seeds, leaving 5 for next year. Only sown tomato and broad bean so far but spring`s energy is arriving at my house, so I am getting winter jobs finished as fast as I can. The only kondo going on today is converting fibre into yarn and in process making a bit more room
I think I was born decisive, spent all last evening researching and have today gone to a cycle shop and ordered a brompton, am getting a few add ons, the main one being the back rack with eazy wheels, which means that I can push it along like a shopping trolley
so any lifting is just in and out of the boot. I am so looking forward to expanding my horizons and can see me cycling along the promenade. It will make the world of difference to me being able to get out and about, rather than looping around the village
I have got to come back down from my high, will be continuing my grounding sourdough bread which will help but looking around and I am seeing a few messy things. Today I will need to give myself a countdown of putting away or it won`t get done. I am so on a high today that I forgot that I have a bootload in the boot for the recycling centre. Went out for the bike and came back home with the boot still full
Gonna start, right now

I have been at the hospital for the last two days having various tests and found out I have blood clots on both lungs again. The last time was seven years ago so thought I was fine.
Looks like taking the new anti coagulants, keeping hydrated and a little gentle sorting out is the most kondoing I will be doing for a few days. Even cutting up a big cardboard box had me tired
Well done on all the clearing out and sorting being done."This site is addictive!"

hugs elona. You do listen to your body, I know that, sometimes you just have to over- rule that thinking brain, the one that does not want to waste any time. Sitting will make it easier on your energy levels, sit and do booger all. Channel 61 has lots of easy watch nothingness, nice for filling the day
I got to the tip and passed over my stuff, including some old books and a good working portable induction hob. One worker there is glad of anything I give him and I am glad to help. I counted down some putting away and tis done. Now I feel no guilt, will be relaxing the rest of the afternoon0
