Camelot, we have 3 beds & a futon - 2 sets for each bed (2 king, 1 double) and one for the futon and no more! DH had one set for his king size bed when I moved in...fine for a chap that spent 35 weeks of the year away from home, but not so easy when I was at home for 52 weeks!

Thanks for the advice about the clothes - I think packing them up for a couple of months and getting them out when the weather is a bit better and maybe my head is clearer sounds like a plan!

Feel a little better now that a car load of stuff has gone - time for a bit of crochet to celebrate :j
  • Lala1974, feel free to pop in and update us - I love hearing about others' success, it inspires me to do more. Lizzie, I agree - park the clothes question for the moment and go back to it when you feel more decisive.

Kittie your post about the bedding has made me think. We tend to equate cost with satisfaction and the more we pay, the longer we want to keep it. If that bedding had been cheap, you wouldn't have felt so much angst about donating it - yet the price has nothing to do with the pattern/colour/your change in taste. And if you'd used it a lot, you might have felt easier about it - yet in fact, probably one of the reasons it hadn't had much use was because it didn't spark enough joy.

This isn't meant to be a criticism of your decision-making process, more of a general musing on 'value' and how long we expect to go on using things, and why we feel bad (I know I do) when we have to admit that something we bought wasn't really right. And why hanging on to that thing we don't love or want (yes, black Planet jacket, I'm looking at you) is somehow supposed to reverse the bad decision we made. The human mind is a fascinating thing!

Yet another who did a CS run today. Plus new shredder finally got unpacked and put to use, then the shredded paper and the shredder packaging all went to the dump for recycling. Also posted off a gift and hand delivered an item. Also gave my neighbour an unwanted box of chocs and a calendar which I didn't need. This has all freed up mental and physical space, hurray, I feel I can breathe more easily!

I just bought two suitcases - one small cabin one and a matching medium one at the D*****ams sale.

I do need a cabin suitcase for April for a family break and a nice medium one for later in the year as most of mine have been given to DDs - they are £100 cheaper than rrp each and they do "spark joy!"

On considering it I would actually have spent more on "cheap" ones than on the ones I got and they should last longer so it is not a bad decision but I do feel a bit guilty.

The black Planet jacket resonated with me but I do wear mine, got it in a sale and it should be worn for years as should the rest of my wardrobe which has been decluttered and will be pruned down more as I (hopefully) lose weight.

I find it terribly hard to think I have spent so much money and for what? oh well, what goes around comes around

I gave all that bedding away this morning and they may well use it on two hospice beds as it will brighten the rooms :) It wasn`t easy and I didn`t have that magic feelgood factor. I arrived home and made a cup of coffee, went on the internet, looked at my e mails. I have an e mail from premium bonds, I have won £125. Are my angels telling me something?

now I have that elusive joie de vivre :D and just come back from a bike ride in the sun, just long enough to make my heart work a little faster and to get a few lightly puffed-out sessions

I am very focused on trying to reduce stuff in my fridge and freezer, so that is what is for a quick lunch and then I will copy many of you and will MK the summer bedding for my own (single) bed, this afternoon. Cor, I am going to get into bed feeling very virtuous tonight.

This time I will offer stuff to my daughters as they cannot go wrong with pure white single sizes in quality cotton. Sigh, I do have double what I need now as I had enough for my husband too. Two singles, side by side then.

plus I may well, at long last, kiss goodbye to several finely crocheted tray covers, mantle covers etc. My aunt made them 50 years ago and I have never used them.

    Hi everyone!

Keeping on top if it is an ongoing process. On the dining room table today the following items appeared:

    * A letter from the optician to remind DH that he is due an eye test. He already has an appointment booked - it has been binned.

    * A big blue foam finger (you really couldn't make it up :rotfl:)! DS went to watch Superslam Wrestling courtesy of his friend - It has been put in DS room.

    * Tesco club card vouchers - straight into my purse.

Ive also decluttered a Creme Egg from the fridge ;)

    Have a good day everyone!

I have just dragged a cream ottoman downstairs from the big bedroom , where it was not used. It fits really well at the end of my bed and is a good place to put the v shaped pillow and cushions when they are not in use.

The recycling will go out later when I am on the way to the supermarket for meat and veg. Dishwasher is loaded, three portions of home made tomato soup are frozen for dd and am making potato and leek soup this afternoon. The fridge looks so much better now it is clean and tidy and I am rearranging the freezer so I can freeze some of the meat delivery on Tuesday next week.

I seem to be kondoing money this month  but it is all things I will use or an advance payment for a holiday in April. I even applied for an EHIC card which is free and can be done online.

Just realised that the ottoman will be great to hide birthday presents for DD :j

    lala!!! cream egg!!!

Elona I have a pale cream leather ottoman ( new from ebay) bought years ago and mine is now at the foot of my bed too. Handy to sit on, my bed is too high and now filled with throws
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-Real-Genuine-Leather-Brown-Black-Cream-Ottoman-Box-Storage-Footstool-Pouffe-/162375984297?var=&hash=item25ce5ce4a9:m:mSSvVjhfZpPfHynmdoYr6Tg

That exact one but very pale cream and it is lovely, in fact I have two, one also in the hall as a storage seat. The lid stays up for filling and it is something I will never give away. I have a small one from them that exactly fits in an alcove on the landing, now containing my own bedding

I cannot believe me being on a roll today. I sorted all my white single cotton bedding and kept two full sets, if my daughters don`t want the rest then they will go to cs on monday. Pillowcases, not so good, they don`t look white any more

A bit here, a bit there, it is adding up
