KonMari 2016 - The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up

Very frustrating about the coach GQ - do they not have a notification system like airlines where they can text you about any delays or problems? If not, perhaps you should suggest it to them... Good news that your sewing machine is getting to the repair shop sooner though.
I spent yesterday in the garden, so have 8 bags of leaves/moss that I need to deal with at some point - but I've got a work trip coming up so they'll have to wait for a bit. Today will be about doing work and packing up...0 -
OH put the medicine cabinet back on the wall after painting the downstairs loo. So i took the opportunity to kondo many very out of date medicines when putting stuff back in it. Some were over 10 years OOD. All of our rubbish is burned for energy so i just put it in the normal household waste.
Additionally, as he also painted the porch, I will chalk paint the shoe cupboard that lives in there this week, and shift some old shoes of DDs (he has OKd this) and DS (who i will ask beforehand), plus some football boots of DS that can go to the chazzer. And his scooter that he hasn't ridden in years (and which lived in the porch) can probably be donated to the chazzer. It's all stuff out, so that's good. Embarrassingly the vast majority of shoes in the shoe cupboard are mineI didn't think i had many, but it seems i do....... I'd better have a shoe amnesty for a bit. I do wear them out as i walk everywhere, but still there are a lot
My rotary washing line is dead so that's been put out for the scrap metal man, I am currently using a spare (honestly, who has a spare washing line?) It had a cover on it that is also a bit dead - i probably would have made it go on a bit longer, but it won't fit the spare airer (hence the reason i had to get a new line, the spare didn't fit any of the rotaire covers). But I will probably just cope for a bit - I am home much more these days so can juggle the washing around the weather.
Right, I need to Kondo some work today ready for a meeting on weds......

lol, mewell I got worried in case my winter system, a two line cassette on a wall would not be available in future, I had googled and an identical one was initially hard to find, so I have a spare
Shoesagain, omg I cannot even wear heels and fashion shoes but I have dozens in my extra wide size, they all fit well and are (relatively) nice. I wear the same two pairs all the time but know that when they wear out, I will always have a spare pair. I went to a table sale once, they had loads of brand new shoes still in boxes, the owner was going into a care home. Sad but I do like shoes and wish I could totter in stilettoes.

Yesterday I suddenly noticed a small truck with a lot of scrap metal parked in front of the neighbours', I ran outside and asked if they could also take ours, and yes, they could. Old cross country trainer from the bottom of the garden and some metal drawers now gone! The trainer was too bulky to fit in either of our cars, so I'm really happy it's gone.
Hoping to kondo a guest soon. It's a friend of dh's who has business to do in our town and is staying over for a few days. It's a nice guy, but he has a deep voice and talks very slowly and all the time. There's no getting away from that voice, you can hear it upstairs, in the hallway, even in the garage....Are you wombling, too, in '22? € 58,96 = £ 52.09Wombling in Restrictive Times (2021) € 2.138,82 = £ 1,813.15Wombabeluba 2020! € 453,22 = £ 403.842019's wi-wa-wombles € 2.244,20 = £ 1,909.46Wombling to wealth 2018 € 972,97 = £ 879.54Still a womble 2017 #25 € 7.116,68 = £ 6,309.50Wombling Free 2016 #2 € 3.484,31 = £ 3,104.590 -
Yesterday I had a trawl through the deep corner cupboard (floor unit) it has a carousel fitted, but it is now difficult for me to reach the lower level:( One or two more cans for the FB and found some opened duplicate and/or replacement items, so managed to combine 2 into 1 of a few. OOD cough mixture and vitamin type stuff now gone and containers in re-cycling ready for tomorrow. An OOD tin of potatoes and red kidney beans have been earmarked to get used up quickly. I did find some bread making flour that had been put away in the wrong place, need to check it and throw any that might have weevils and pop the rest into the freezer, including the new bag of granary bought yesterday after having kondoed the remains of the previous bag into the bread maker for OH breakfast toast today:D
Going out for the day for a little jaunt to small town an hour's drive away with OH today, must not bring anything much back except for some GF foods from M&S foodshop. I make most of my GF food, but like to have some crackers/savoury biscuits to hand for light lunches, hard to get anything that is not artisan made and costing an arm and a leg here:eek:The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. I am giving in this afternoon, did an MK on some battery operated candles, lost the remote ages ago and also on some old sheets. Nose is sneezing and I am feeling cold although the house is warm enough, so vit c time release has been taken, good lunch eaten as in veg, nuts and fruit. Plenty of hot drinks today and timer set to turn to a film on 61 at 3. I know when to give in and green MK book has arrived so a hedonistic afternoon ahead0

Oh thank you Kittie ! I have had a duvet and fitted sheet that I desperately want to be rid of but I bought it from qv@ and it was expensive ! So when I km the airing cupboard. I put it back 😯 even though I was disappointed with the material when it arrived I kept it as it was warm (cosy home) but it reminded me of the horrible bri nylon sheets we had as a child😨 only been on the bed twice !! I'm inspired now and they will be leaving.
Had a couple of decent days weather over here and have filled the green bin with garden waste. And done lots of washing including my long and short feather and down coats which as I'm off work this week ,I knew I could manage without!
Had dd1 and her bf round for tea and when I got out the ice cream for him , could only find very ood syrup to go on it!! So may look at my cupboards this week .
I hate shoes, I have 2 neuroma on my left foot and struggle to find any, I have been looking for 6 months for new work shoes, but things came to a head this week as the pair I've been wearing had gotten so baggy they caused a corn on my little toe.
My podiatrist gave me the name of a shop in another town and dh took me at the weekend, so I finally ordered a pair which he will post to me, this then had me checking the make online and I spotted a nice pair of ankle boots and another pair of shoes for work in the sale ( still not cheap ) but if they are as comfy as the ones in the shop they'll be worth every penny😆
In addition I bought dgson 2 pair of shoes for school! , so plenty of money kondoed this week.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.0 -
Anyone heard from Mavymoo lately?
Items still trickling out, nothing spectacular - just tidying up in the garden when I can get out there.
Managed to get the incinerator on a few days ago so a couple of carrier bags worth of paper went. It seems to collect far quicker than be incinerated though!
Mags still moving out to the recycling gently, nearly at the end of one boxful.
Re-organised the craft stash (nothing much was KM-ed), but am gradually making cards (Very joyfull)ready to send, so they will go out house eventually. Am trying to persuade myself that I do not HAVE to go to all the various shows throughout the year, but try to use what is already there! SABLE stash!
Take care everyone, that lurgy is still pretty active round this neck of the woods.

I've been mia for a few weeks, real life went belly up at the start of the year and things have been difficult to say the least. I have been reading along most days.
GQ, I've enjoyed your adventures in loftland, sorry to hear about your journey from hell!
Wort, you asked about hot flushes. I can recommend a magnet in your knicks, available from Boots or online. It worked well for me, costs about £25 but as I was spending lots on herbal remedies every month it was money well spent. I've since bought several as gifts (one even went to South Africa).
Kondo-ing has recommenced here now that my built in wardrobe has been erected. I took three big bags to the charity shop last week, and today packed the car to the gunnals and went to the HWRC with a load of packaging. There were a few bits not good enough for the chazzer, but the local tip has a walk in container for things to go in the resale shop.
I need to get my arris in gear and start again
Sweetpea xNote to self: I'm a human being, not a human doing! 😊0 -

Whenever you book with National Hexpress (mimes spitting noise) they ask for your mobile number. I've asked several ticketing agents why over the years and been always been told it's so NE can contact you if your coach is running late.
They seem baffled when I point out that several times I've had coaches run one hour plus late and no attempts to contact me whatsoever.
A ticketing agent told me that he knew one occasion when they did contact travellers to say that their coach wouldn't be running but an alternate would, but leaving two hours earlier. They gave passengers 20 mins' notice of its departure time, which ranks as a fat lot of good in most cases.
I despise that company but they're the only provider here, damn their eyes.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.
