    Anyone heard from Mavymoo lately?

Yes, I PM'd Mavvy a week or two ago and she replied the other day. She's OK, busy as usual and her Internet has been down. She has some catching up to do, but will be back when she's got the time.

I have just checked all the clothes I brought on holiday and there are 3 tops and one dress I haven't worn. The dress has remained in the wardrobe because we have not eaten out very often due to high prices in 'posh' restaurants nearby! The tops remain unworn because one only goes with one skirt I have with me; one is, as DH kindly pointed out, too scruffy ( :embarasse ); and the other is a bit boring! The scruffy one has just been binned :) as it is synthetic material and no good as cleaning cloths.

I seem to have temporarily kondo'd the diet but i am not over-eating and only one dessert has passed my lips, very little alcohol at all and no sugar. We have done plenty of walking and swimming so I am happy that we have not lazed around although we have certainly relaxed.

I have bought a pretty notebook to write my 2017 'to do' lists in. Some travel plans are being made, domestic and farther afield, plans to meet up with friends who don't live nearby (including 2 lovely people from Canada who we met on holiday in the Caribbean few years ago and have renewed our acquiantance with this year). Also further KM plans, although this round will require more cooperation from DH :D

I have also been tasked with helping sort out the house of one of my clients who has just moved into a care home so i shall be pretty busy when i get back. I suspect her daughter will get a house clearance firm in to get rid of the almost all the contents of her home because she won't want any of the stuff, and there is 50+ years of accumulated stuff in there.

As we have said many times on this thread, unless it sparks joy why keep it, yet still homes up and down the land have unused multiple dinner services, kitchenailia, books and clothes, etc, etc that will eventually have to be sorted and released by someone:(
I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.

Morning all, I hope everyone is well.
I've not actually fallen off the wagon as only necessary news are coming in but I've not actually been kondoing either.
I must get back on board.

  • Good morning Kondo-ites
A tough couple of weeks at this end, including but not limited to low energy and an ME take over. Despite the obvious low standards which go along with that, the house has been kept in reasonable order and any items needed were stored well and accessible when needed.
No real kondo progress but good to know the foundations are strong and will hold you up even when you have no "spoons" that day

  • I've sort of Kondo'ed a couple of boxes, they were old perfume gift set boxes, which I'd been using to keep as a 'memory box' and to hold theatre , football and rugby league programmes. I've emptied them and put the contents into either a plastic folder or a zip wallet. The folders/wallet takes up a lot less space.

This year, I've decided to do a reverse Kondo with books. Last year, I think I was a bit too quick to put some of the books I read into the charity shop bag. So on occasions, I've re-bought the book because I've convinced myself, that I really wanted to keep it.

So I've got a cardboard box, and am going to put the books that I've purchased and read in there, and then towards the end of the year, go through them and decide whether I do want to keep them or not. It's already making me think about the books I buy, as I now know that I have to keep them if I've bought and read them, rather than read them and just chuck them into the bag for the charity shop.

I am wondering if the low energy is being part of the natural earth cycle, nature is meant to slow down in winter and then slowly awaked in spring. This is definitely me, I do what I need to keep ticking over but not much more, maybe a bit of MK nibbling here and there but certainly not full on. The mood will take me, when the time is right

I have been looking all over for some very precious letters, 47 years old and somewhere safe in my house. MK has been very helpful in that the areas I have kondoed are easy to go through. I have decided to stop fretting over them, they will turn up at some stage. In the process, I took everything out of a bedroom storage pouffe, this holds assorted items but was meant for allotment clothes. I have two lovely canvas smocks, five years old and never worn because the sleeves were too long and the neck too open to the sun. They are not going out, I am shortening sleeves, tacked so far but decided to wash now, being cotton canvas and could shrink. I will finish them later and they did give me a lot of joy, when I held them, knowing that I will wear them. In the meantime I have moved my seven factor 50 sunhats, lol, not mine alone but dh`s and for visiting grandchildren who want to `help` me on the allotment. They are so good as sun safety items. They will be used

Sold and posted a craft book for good money, one down and lots to go, so have started saving some good packing materials

Greenbitterfly, me too re the books. I am managing to stop myself regretting give aways but am only buying certain books that I know I can give back ie phillipa gregory, btw am so enjoying reading her books in bed

Wort: can you please give more information on your online shoe shop? I have to wear orthotics, so am always looking for suitable shoes. I'm desperate for a pair of properly waterproof everyday shoes and trainers. I can source dress shoes and summer shoes, but not for soggy weather. As if it never rains in the UK......

What's the spoon thing? I seem to have missed that reference.

SAD - Seasonal Adjusted Disorder or something like that?

I definitely get less done in the winter. As soon as it gets dark, all I want to do is curl up in front of the telly and not go out.

Fen, I have very wide feet and particularly like db shoes for comfort. This company are very good and they have lots of shoes that fit orthotics

SAD is that winter depression that many people get because of low light levels. The yellow low energy lamps did not help people at all. Some people get a light box which helps, I don`t get it, depression, naturally I sometimes feel that chi (life force) is low but I do whatever is needed to get that back into balance (yin and yang). It might just be a case of resting, if my body says to rest, or to go for a short cycle ride or to just do one of my hobbies. I am in tune with myself, we all have the ability, like we all have intuition. However I can do that as I only have myself to look after these days. Many people have tails that wag the dog, work, children to see to etc
