Happy belated birthday VJsmum. Merry Christmas to one and all.
Well its moving day today. Have been up and about what seems like forever.
The carpet cleaner has been and done his bit. The furniture is all ready to go. I'm pleased that I only have about 10 boxes to go in the van.
Just waiting on OH to finish work and pick up the van. I plan on about an hour to load. Near 3 hours to get to the homestead. 3/4 hour to unload.
Then crash in to bed. I'll let you know how I get on.

All the best for the move, TeaLady, I'm sure it's planned down the the micro-dot, thanks to your kondo'd lifestyle. Please drop by in a few days (or whenever you've recovered) and tell us how it went.
I'm getting my life ready for my week's absence at the family home, having a slightly-random meal to use up stuff in the fridge. There will be a small amount of veggies to go with me, plus the leeks off the allotment, but not too much. I was tempted to go to the chippy tonight but thought it would be more MSE to use what I'd already got in.
Have fetched my darling pushbike into the flat, and chained a few things into the shed to the steel shelving unit which is bolted to the breezeblock wall. There have been signs of interference with my shed's latch this past week, and I have had a shed-burglary there before, so the bike will spend the Xmas break in my living room.
I'm not so much paranoid as a realist, but the bike's the only thing of real value in the shed and now it's not there any more.
Hope everyone is having a good time and those lifting big things are minding their backs. GQ xEvery increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Yes, it's 'bottom of the fridge' vegetable curry here tonight, both to use stuff up end also because I try to eat fairly simply this week to make up for the excesses in view at the weekend. It'll be B-o-F soup tomorrow lunchtime for the same reason.
Hope the move went well Tealady.Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.0 -
Arrived safely, drove through sleet, snow and some breezy times, but all is well.
Family all gathered in and kids are excited! As a bonus my brother has bought his little Border terrier who is adorable.I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.0 -
Morning all.
Glad to hear that MMF007 has made it safely to her destination. Hoping travel including weather issues not to bad in the next few days as so many people will be on the move.
Amazingly, I and colleagues who do walking commutes through the city, including up from the direction of the railway station, noted that there were very many fewer bodies walking to work on Thursday, so it seems that some employers may have finished early for the holidays. Not that I'm a bit envious, y'unnerstand. But, if nothing else, it spreads out the demand for roads and for space in the supermarket aisles. I've been studiously avoiding Shopping for many weeks already, apart from buying food and browsing in a couple of chazzers.
I have already kondo'd the 2016 calendar, after fulfilling the last appointment on it, it went into the recycling bin. I'll be buying its replacement in late Jan-Feb as the kind of big art calendars I favour are normally about £6-£8 and I prefer to wait a few weeks until they're reduced to about 50p.:rotfl:

Hope the move went well, tealdy!
Have miraculously managed to get 8 people to agree to main - meal plan for the next 5 days. The reason for planning is that there are 2 birthdays to celebrate for mum and nephew as well as the Big Day. Only one of them will be on the actual birthday so we had to agree what day to party, as well as what food! 12 y.o's idea of a birthday tea is a bit different to a 76 y.o's :rotfl:
Everyone seems very happy and relaxed. Although i don't often see my sil, and we are very different people, from very different backgrounds, we do work well together in the kitchen so we are banishing mum (who despite having a life limiting illness looks after my poorly dad 365) and she can have a week off.
Doing some reverse kondo-ing in 3 hours when Mr T's mobile emporium should, gales permitting, deliver the small supply of extremely healthy victuals.

Tealady, how exciting to be back in your own home for Christmas.
MMF Sounds as though you'll have a lovely time with your family.
Ooooh, GQ is off to visit family for a week. I'm eagerly awaiting the next episode of kondoing tales from the homestead.
No Kondoing here recently as it's too busy with other things however am planning to get stuck into the office asap as had another deskslide this week. It's driving me bonkers.
Still loving my bedroom curtains. If the next stage of Kondoing feels as good I'm not sure I'll be able to handle it :rotfl:
My calendar is still in situ however each page gets torn off and used as scrap paper at the end of the month.Decluttering Awards: 🏅🏅0 -
A colleague gave me a bottle of Georgian wine and two 'sausages' of Georgian candy. I don't know how to describe them otherwise; I've just looked them up and they are called Churchkhela (Wikipedia has a picture of them drying). And what a coincidence: dd1 has a school Christmas party today where they are asked to bring a snack or a drink (alcohol free, as they are only 8y!); I have generously donated one of the sausages
Sliced very thinly, with a note to the name and the content.
Our office closes at 13.00 today, and reopens on 2 January. It's so lovely to be off for a whole week, and not worry about work piling up!
I seem to have kondoed a DirectorThree months ago, a few of my colleague-Assistants were fired, and their work redistributed among the remaining Assistants. Someone had decided that I could add at least an hour's work every day to my tasks by taking on the CFO. Wrong! He is at the other side of the building, never in his office, and leaves early without telling anyone; I could never catch him to discuss the day, the calendar, the minutes, travel, etc. It was very frustrating to not be able to give him the support he warrants in his position, and I felt it reflected unfairly on me. The Executive team have now decided to rearrange tasks between the Assistants, and will let us know after New Year. Why they don't let us figure it out ourselves, I don't understand, but never mind.
