(Very) small box of things delivered to CS today - some more Xmas baubles (checked they were ok to take them), a book and a Xmas card bought for my (late) m-I-l which won't work for anyone else I'd send cards to - our local CS sell individual cards and this one is lovely, so am hoping someone buys it
Also posted the last of my cards - both RM and hand deliveries - just those to go with family presents left now (and bestie) Ooh - and a last minute fleabay sale
Last year I had a massive sort out of Xmas stuff - 2 large bags went to CS. Rest went into (released from unwanted (and sold on fleabay) toys) plastic lidded crates with contents of each box detailed on the outside - meant I could put the appropriate box(es) in the appropriate room and then deal with the items inside. (However, we still have 5 large plastic crates, a large (6ft) boxed fake tree and lots of smaller fake trees in a box.... Plus the large wooden tree stand (for the real tree) and a bag of Xmas cushions.... ooh - and all the outside lights in their boxes.... to store in the loft- I like Xmas!! )

Igamogam - I did the same as you last year too. All the light fittings, plugs, timers etc in one box, the baubles in a proper storage box and the door wreath and other trimmings in another one. The two boxes were originally storing clothes that have been Kondoed. It was so nice not to have to ferret through all the tat!
I was going to deliver the last of my cards that were local but again the weather was pants so I bought stamps and posted them!
Just talking to DH about some friends that may be on their own for Christmas - looks like we'll be having a few more round the table on Christmas day, the more the merrier!!Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
The Mirena coil was the best thing EVER! No periods so I have no idea (and care less) when I actually went through the menopause, had it taken out when I was 55, half a dozen hot flushes and that was IT!!
Very MSE when you think what I saved on all those suppliesIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
Last year I also had a good sort out and I put the various crates in storage in reverse order. So the crate with the Advent calendar went in last (DD2 still insists on one) That alone saved so much hassle this yearIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0

Gone early on the Christmas crackers MMF007 and GQ ??:rudolf::snow_laug
I've started on the sloe gin.
You may be interested to know that I'm more lethal with a longbow tipsy than sober. Although the flower of English chivalry (and the ruffianly troops of archers) went into the famous battles of the middle ages pished as f@rts, apparently.
Well, you'd have to be drunk or certifiably insane to do all that sober.
Several baubles have been defenestrated and one snowman got hit inna fork (in-joke for the disc worlders out there). A good time was had by all - hic!:rotfl:
Bit envious of the talk of beautifully ordered Xmas decs. I don't have my own stash, as I'm never here for the actual celebration, plus there's nowhere to keep such things. But, I am Chief Decorating Officer at the parental homestead where the decs have to go up on Xmas Eve and down on Twelth Night. I'm never around for the latter so they get put away any old how.
But I digress. The folks used to have an 8 ft artificial tree which came apart in two sections. Gradual over-stuffing of their house meant that for 20+ years there was no room to put the whole tree up and the upper section only (about 3.5 ft) used. Eventually, the lower bits and the metal stand went to the tip - the upper section sits in a specially cut log.
Soooo, what this means is that the bauble and bead inventory is vastly in excess of the amount of tree. Even with baubles cunningly used in vases and bowls as decorations, there are still about 60% more decs than space. But can any of them go to the chazzer?
Nope. Because. I blame Justin. I will try to suggest a thinning out this year once again, but I expect to be unsucessful, even though my little heart is warmed by the descriptions above of all the beautifully-organised trimmings etc.

My Grinch-like little heart isn't warmed, humph!! I look at them and think I'll have to make sure they go back properly or it will lapse back into chaos again and I just wish I could ignore the whole thing!!!
But the DDs still love Christmas. And I love them. So... peace and goodwill and all that!
I think I need a sweet sherry (beats tea with the vicar!)It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -

Thanks GQ. I can now slink out of the closet and admit, shamefaced, that I quite like sherry. The cheaper and creamer the better. Common as muck, me.

Monna - sherry is back in fashion. Heard it on the radio last weekend... http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p04kpdh20

It's never been out of fashion in my kitchen! Tho I must admit that I drink Lidl's posh sherry rather than Harveys, and I do like Tio Pepe at Christmas!2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇
