Just calling in to say Merry Christmas to all those celebrating, and to wish everyone peace and harmony throughout the winter season and beyond.

My kondo mojo deserted me from mid autumn onwards, although there has been a little quiet progress here and there, but only intermittently and nothing to write home about.

I'm sure, though, that it will form a major part of my NY resolutions, so I look forward to renewing my momentum in early 2017!

Have a lovely festive season. :xmastree:

:p I've only been here since 5 pm and I've already been up that loft. You can't keep a kondo-ite away from clutter, can you? :p

There was a serious mission to track down any random bits of 4-ply black acryclic yarn, as Mum is knitting me a sweater by combining a white 4-ply off a cone and black 4-ply leftover from other projects. We're doing this from her stash, not buying anything.

Anyroad, by the time we'd sat down after tea, she was nearly out of the black and getting fractious. Cue me heading up into the loft to truffle through the yarn bags. Have found relatively small amounts of the required yarn, but it should be sufficient to finish the project, she's done the back and is already one-third of the way up the front.

Whilst up there, I had a little re-arrangement of the yarn stash (more work required, it must be 14 months since I was last at it) and I've spotted some more things which may be able to be freegled, subject to parental agreement.

Nothing gross was found, although I did have to move one of the three cat carry baskets (in a two-cat household) and was amused by the juxtapositon of some objects, such as the 'po, a luggage trolley, the decorating supplies and more yarn than most yarn shops could hope to field on a good day.

No mice, dead birds, spiders or wasps' nests were disturbed during this activity. But I'm here for 8 days and who knows what I may be allowed to get up to? Mwah ha ha. :rotfl:

Delurking to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a healthy, happy and peaceful New Year! I've been missing for a while, though reading most days, Kondo-ing fairly steadily still ;) I'm down to a box of gribble which hasn't got a home yet and some precious things which haven't been repatriated from my son's house.

GQ I admire your loft adventures - I've no head for heights and the loft at my last house was empty for the 23 years I lived there. This one has a loft ladder but I'll be blessed if I'm going to use it:eek: :eek:

:p I always joke that I have a fear of depths; I get very nervous on open-tread stairs, or foot-bridges with slats you can see through (and don't even get me started on suspension foot-bridges, OMG) but I'm unbothered by lofts.

It's pretty cramped up there as you could just about stand upright at one point in the roof if you were a smallish child, for the rest of it it's crawling only. I sometimes take the hook for the hatch up there and use it to haul things out of the shadows. If I'm very well organised, I remember to bring a head-torch from home when I go wandering.

Have just had a nerve-wracking few minutes re-finding a lost present, otherwise tomoz was going to be a tad embarrassing. All is well now.

I will be going into the loft shortly to retrieve the tree, the box of decs and to put a small amount of things back up there, such as the box of cards and some gift-wrap. Think this household is probably SABLE for gift wrap.

Tell it not on the mountain nor publish it abroad to thine enemies, but summat turrible was discovered this lunchtime - we've run out of Br@nston pickle.

 AIIEEEEEEEEEEEE! We were reduced to having HM pickled onions with our cheese sarnies. Of course, this was an hour after the final journey to the supermarket, because that's sod's law, innit?

Never mind, what we haven't got now, we'll do without, a few swigs of sherry cover a multitude of sins.

Have a good time, one and all.

We've just been to Mr M's with a load of dry cleaning. OH's work suits, some jackets and trousers, one of only 2 dry-clean only dresses I own, a couple of my coats and a velvet jacket. 24 items, I think the woman behind the counter was going into meltdown. Kept saying she'd have to split it into smaller lots (fine by us), we'd have to pay for the lots separately (fine by us), it wouldn't be ready until next Friday as they're closed for a few days (fine by us), whoops it comes to £96 (fine by us). Was getting severely stressed when she didn't need to be, it was almost like she was saying we don't want your business!

OH is cleaning inside of both cars and washing the other, I'm off to iron our new curtains so we'll hopefully be hanging them shortly.

May go carol singing later in the village if it's not too cold.

Hope everybody has a great Christmas whatever you're doing, and hope whatever you receive brings you joy.

Random storage location of the year goes to........ my mum for the following:

M in kitchen prepping approx 8000 pigs in blankets, Mum, where are the metal skewers?
Mum, In the drawer in the bedside cabinet in your bedroom.

Silly of me to ask really, I should have known!?

Right, veg prep done, pigs in blankets herded into fridge, chocolate trifle made, sugar free jelly made, timings written down for over-large turkey, present opening time agreed with parents of small children so no fretting need occur. A gin and tonic is being handed to me and all's well.

Wishing everyone a very happy Christmas and a very happy Day if you don't do Christmas, and may all presents be joyous!

    M xx
I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.

Argghhh, having ironed the new curtains and taken down the old ones, the new ones are too short and will have to be returned. No idea why I ordered the wrong size, I measured them twice and still got it wrong!

The only good thing is I've ordered new ones to be delivered, they are now having a sale and we save £32.

MMF, we store the meat plates for the turkey in the divan drawer under the bed. We have 2 of them, they both came from my grandparents home and one gets used each year for a couple of hours, then it's back under the bed again. Don't know how they ended up being stored there, but there's no room in the kitchen and at least we know where they are!

  • Just delurking to wish you :rudolf::xmassign:
I have tried to re-gift almost immediately I'm afraid especially with gifts from work. I know there are adults out there who LOVE snow globes but I'm not one of them so they went to CS last weekend so hopefully sold to someone who will get joy from them. I've given gifts of experiences, and consumables in the main or universal gift vouchers. We've been up North and returned with no harm inflicted by Barbara.
Have a lovely time all. Thanks for holding my hand and looking forward to walking with you in 2017
