    Morning from the Sheffield train.

Cardiff is a no go. We like the city but USW is half an hour by train outside.

OH and i were talking this morning about what we wanted for Christmas and neither of us can really think of anything.....

Oh so not Cardiff uni itself. DD2 looked at Cardiff uni - loved the course but hated the accommodation which we agreed. She had her heart set on Sheffield - not so much the course but the sports facilities and the accommodation was much better - blinking expensive though. In the end decided to go to local uni and live at home for first year........worked well so far and she is saving money to pay her own accommodation next year:D

A couple of bags to 3 charity shops yesterday. My usual one didn't take some the larger items I had so I spread the love a little :D

Yesterday we hung the new mirror above the fireplace, only been in the house 4 days so that was a win. Really happy with the way it looks.

Today I've painted the dresser with chalk paint. This lives in the hall which faces north, and in antique pine pulls a lot of light out of the hall. OH isn't entirely sure he likes the result, I've said we'll live with it for a while and if he still doesn't like it, I'll give it a second coat so it looks less 'rustic'. The drawer contents are in 2 boxes, there's an awful lot of crap, I'll be ruthless when we put the dresser back together (next weekend probably) and get rid of most of it I hope. Apart from my sewing/mending kit, and some gloves, there's not much we can't live without I think. Will part with the tapestry I brought back from Australia 21 years ago haven't finished. I'm not sure even if I finished it I'd want it on my wall, so it may as well go!

Zipping through my 'to do' list!
Sorted xmas cards out and realised that some keep getting put to the bottom of the pile because I don't really like them. Have Kondo'd! Made a few into gift tags, salvaged all envelopes and a few are now food for the woodburner :D

Managed some basic sewing and have taken in a fave skirt. It hangs well now and will get this winter out of it :) It is a lovely rich purple and it does spark joy.

Filed receipts, weeded file and reduced to only recent purchases of clothing and other non-guaranteed stuff. Anything with a guarantee or instructions lives in its own file for easy ref.

Nabbed emtpy boot box from DH to cover and use for a food hamper for elderly Aunt.

Wrapped large xmas pressie in leftover wallpaper (paste the wall type so no horrid chemicals on it). It looks very effective and posh because obvs the paper is thick and lush.

On being asked to find a replacement sunglasses case for DH I remembered exactly where I had located my cheap glasses that live in an expensive box (long story) and retrieved said box for him within 15 seconds. Even I was impressed. His glasses fit perfectly and my non-prescription ones are hapy in a nice cloth bag (they are only used in the garden so don't need a tough box to protect them anywhere.

HM soup done, will take to friend tomorrow. It's leek n potato so I can't have any but my taste test indicates it will be good. Only made it to kondo small leek and one spud that were lurking and needed using up. Just added chicken gravy, 1/4 onion, clove of garlic, and thyme and bingo!

Well the car has been cleaned and we went via McDonalds on the way back... a freebie! There was a hot drink cup as we were clearing out so i told dd1 to make sure she put the sticker on the card in my bag and as it filled the another free drink card and the Christmas hot drinks are on the menu she convinced me they should have one!

We also went to a Christmas event this morning and dd2 seemed to have the magic touch on a game. Least it was things we would use. We also picked up some toiletries, there was a stall selling bits people didn't want from toiletries gift packs. No, i have not gone mad. I am doing a reverse advent calendar for a local homeless place and thought i might as well buy the soap etc from the stall as the money raised was going to charity, saving me lining the supermarkets pockets and the bits i bought also go to help others.

just watching saving santa and then we best get on with the chores!

Sounds delish Slinky. I'll get a squash tomorrow because I can have some of that! I do love HM soup, filling, low fat, high fibre but still yummy!

I have just handed over 9 zip lock bags of essentials to one of our neighbours whose church run a soup kitchen every Saturday. Five female & four male - wipes, antibac gel, toothbrush & paste, deodorant, lip balm, tissues, some choc. The female bag also has hand cream & sanitary items. I also gave him some bags of chocolate money and promised him a Christmas cake for next Sunday's post-service social.

Thank you for that info Greenbee I will give them a call later and see if they need anything I have got left as I have to go to Lynn next week at some point so good timing :D

Offered to go out to help a friend deliver leaflets later on she said I can do the posh houses with the very long drives so I can get my 5k run done for the day :rotfl:Nice day for it cold but sun shining so not all bad.

I am getting there now with clothes and feel another cull coming on as I looked in wardrobe this morning and pulled two items off the hangers into the charity bag ;) without even thinking about it as I knew I no longer felt anything for them let alone 'joy' :D

The kittens are still bringing me joy as Lolly has joined them she is now known as Lolly kitten. This morning when I looked out the window 3 of them were in a tree play fighting as they are now learning to climb and the other 2 were sitting at the bottom of the trunk :D and Lolly kitten was on the doorstep waiting for food ;)

No - he isn't academic enough and one of his subjects is a BTEC subsidiary diploma (one A level equivalent). He should get a Distinction* in this (So allegedly A* equivalent) but i think we'd have a job persuading a Russell Group uni of that :p

He liked Sheffield (Hallam) it's third on his list. The application is going in this week so we will see what offers he gets...

He has his driving test today - it's all go in our house :rotfl:

Kondoed one of the lego sets - it sold for 2 - 3 times it's original value.:T DS will use the money for a gig ticket, i expect.
